My son is 22 and just out with his girlfriend. I'm starting to get the ball rolling. I'm looking for land large enough to have my tiny home/RV and a good size farm. I've wanted to do this for a long time. I think I'm more excited than a child on Christmas morning. 😜🤩

Me too!!! I told my son's as soon as they go off to college I'm selling my house and going tiny.

Unfortunately, many of these aren't at all cheap, tho.

Also, I know some folks with really big homes mostly because they grew up in really small ones. So, you can't blame them for wanting something different and if they work for it, they should get it.

To each their own, eh? Nothing wrong with having things you actually use and love. The race to own more and more and keep up with appearances is different but I love my cooking pans, my kitchen aid. Art I’ve brought home from various travels. Mementos from my daughter’s childhood. As I get older, I do pare down but I don’t fault anyone for not being able to live tiny. I’d love to see people who’ve done this for 5+ years(non-COVID enforced).

I agree and I'm still fairly youngish (39), I know If I have to take a bathroom break in the middle of the night while I'm groggy I wouldn't be too happy using a latter back and forth.

membear I don’t like the new trend of land and wealth consolidation to the top, and leaving the middle to low class with no options besides tiny homes, RVs, packed together, or homelessness . But hey at least the rich are getting richer.

@@jordanabeaulieu2530 i have watched a lot of videos on tiny homes and there are others that have a balcony or a deck, some right on the roof. the only issue here is you have to crawl out the window to get to it. sometimes we as people think that we could do that or live with that, but then when it becomes an everyday day to day thing our perspective changes. i am not trying to be negative here or to dishearten anyone. its just that after 61 years of life i have become a little bit more of a realist. you have to look at it realistically, right?

people have been eating dried fruit for 'a million years,' all over the world. it's not weird at all & a very common & practical way of preserving fruits & vegetables, as you know. I even remember our local co-op back in the 1970's had an additional shop space next door just for selling dried fruit, nuts + a few other bulk items..& most health food stores + many green grocers still sell some amount of dried fruit. don't let you ignorant friends make you believe it's odd in any way, just because they don't live that way. & yes, most western households don't have counter-top or larger dehydrators in the home anymore [you & I are surely among that shrinking number]..but many vegetarians, also gourmet & also 'regular' raw foodists do...but then not everyone wants or can make use of them anyway: like people who live where drying foods is a part of their routine re: survival, most don't use commercial dehydrators, they do it the old-fashioned way re: lack of access or lack or consistent access to such items and also electricity. but even in the west some doctors still prescribe 'prunes' & 'prune 'juice' to the mildly constipated elder folk [including some of the MD's I've worked with]. because it's fairly inexpensive compared to Rx or over-the-counter laxatives + they're much more likely to remember to buy &/or take it.👍

I've seen people even use buckets w/toilet seats on top. There are canister toilets that you have to dump somewhere. True toilets seem to be the exception for the more mobile tiny homes.

except we dont know how tall she is. her head was basically touching the ceiling. i am 6'1" and i wonder if i could actually stand up in there? it is a very nice home. to me that is the biggest drawback to many tiny homes is that the "bedroom" is usually a loft that you cannot stand up in. then you have to crawl around in them which is not really doable for someone like me who has arthritis in both knees, ouch!

Is it Dallas? Because I think she says Lake Dallas at 9:20 and that’s about half an hour north of Dallas. So I looked it up and turns out there’s a tiny home community in Dallas AND Lake Dallas. I was curious because I’ve lived in both and am currently 15 minutes from Lake Dallas 😊 I think it’s awesome more places like these are popping up.

It's liberating!

It's not difficult. It's a mindset. Do this: for every clothing that you wear, turn the hanger inside out on the hangar, keep it like that while keeping the other unworn clothing the same. At the end of the year, count how many are facing out vs facing in. Those that have not been touch can be thrown out, donated or sold. That is your first and very easy step to minimalism. You can apply this technique on just about everything you have in your house/apartment. Try it, it is really liberating and a whole lot of fun. Not to mention you make a few quick bucks at it as well, funds you can save it towards retirement. Materialistic lifestyle and the constant bombardment from media and companies isnt doing anything for you.
