I love how both times George stood up were important for his change to happen. With Biff, he stumbles into the situation and chooses to stand his ground. While with the dance floor jerk, George had to muster the courage to choose to go into a confrontation and stand his ground. Both instances take different kind of guts to do.

There is a fan theory that Doc was actually suicidal and he was gonna take Marty with him. Long story short, prior to the time machine Doc Brown had been down on his luck as his house had burned down, many of his previous inventions weren't successful, and he was living in a garage (these and other subtle details were shown in the opening). So, the Time Machine was Doc's last attempt to create something successful, but he was worried it wouldn't, so he figured he'd kill himself should it fail, but he didn't want to die alone which is why he and Marry stood infront of the thing when they tested it in the mall parking lot. If it worked, Doc, Marty, and Einstein would have lived, if it didn't, then the car would have crashed into them at 88 miles per hour and killed them. Its a very depressing yet possible fan theory.

The original Back to the Future was intended as a stand-alone film, and the "To be continued..." was meant as a joke. It wasn't until it became so popular that plans for sequels were raised by the studio. Robert Zemekis has said if he knew he was going to make further sequels, he would NOT have put Jennifer in the DeLorean at the end of the first film because it tied their hands on what could be done in later installments. Once the studio greenlit a BttF sequel, Parts II and III were written and shot back to back and released six months apart in 1989 and 1990.

Most of the exterior shots for Hill Valley in all the Back To the Future trilogy were filmed entirely on the Unviersal Studios backlot. It's still in use today, which is pretty cool, actually. Recently it had been used for the Westview Square set in Wandavision.

I... get the temptation to say that, it really does look like that backlot, but I agree with the above reply, there is NO way Universal would let Disney use that lot without heavy costs. I think it was actually the Warner Brothers set (the same one they used in Gilmore Girls). For instance, “New York Street” from Seinfeld is on the CBS lot and has been used in severalTV shows.

They didn’t hook up that fast. It only meant that they would be together in the future. Unless you think a kiss is hooking up🤣 Also, I could have a kid that, when I was 40, looked like a dude I knew for a few days back in high school and I’d have no memory of that. @@susanmaggiora4800 think back to the story of how his parents met. had it been George who woke up in that situation and not Marty. if the physical contact can get you in trouble while in a relationsip. then any kind of physical contact can count as hooking up. .unless you're also one of those people that doesn't consider anal as sexual intercourse.

The car flying at the end was a joke. But then everyone loved it and basically demanded a sequel. The director said if sequels were planned they wouldn’t have ended it the way they did with Jennifer in the car

Billy Zane played one of Biff's bully friends. I can't wait for you guys to get to part two! It's my favorite in the series.👍

It is funny how you said "What a square" to the guy saying "you're just too darn loud" That is actually Huey Lewis from the 80s rock band Huey Lewis and the News... who sang the song "It's Hip to be Square" LOL

The Twin Pines Mall sign is on display inside the mall where it was filmed, Puente Hills mall, City of Industry, CA. I like taking walks on the street where George and Lorraines 1955 homes are, it's 1800 block of Bushnell Ave in South Pasadena and Doc Browns house is a famous home in Pasadena, I like driving by there. I love living right near where everything was filmed. In fact, today I passed by the Burger King where he skateboards by in the begining. That's in Burbank :)

Billy Zane was in Biff's crew. He was in the diner/manure sequence and helped throw Marty in the trunk. There was no sequel intended for this movie, the end was meant to be a joke. Part 2 and 3 where and filmed at the same time.

There's actually a cool theory that since 1955, Doc's essentially a Time Lord until he dies. As in, this movie shows that while Doc didn't interact with himself, or even tell himself what was going on, he managed to plant the seed in Young Doc's mind: Something's off about him. And then, Marty helps, and even shows YD how to get the Time Travel to work, when Marty gets YD to help him back to the Future. Doc has been time traveling the whole time. But knows that to be able to start on the first place, he had to befriend Marty. It's both a slight mindfuck, and self-fullfilling prophecy.

The mall is called Twin Pines Mall in the beginning of the movie. When Marty flees the farm after going to the past he runs over one of two pine trees. At the end of the movie the mall is called Lone Pine Mall.

"The butterfly effect" Yes, I say that about this film all the time. Marty disturbed the butterfly effect and must restore it

Just for clarification, it wasn't a 'bootleg' Van Halen cassette that Marty had. It was pretty routine to copy original cassettes/vinyl (and CD's when they came out) to give to friends, regardless of the legality (record companies would have not bothered with all that) so they were never referred to as bootlegs. That term was exclusively used for if the tapes were mass produced with dodgy covers and sold. I mean, I'm not saying such behaviour didn't have 'some' effect on sales, but tbh, even if the record companies were bothered by it, it was un-policeable, the equipment required was fairly cheep and very common in most homes by this time. And speaking from personal experience, I ended up buying my own legit copy if I liked it anyway, I'm sure most people were like that.

Actual reason for the labeling of that tape was that the band would not give permission, but Eddie gave personal permission to use his name and even wrote and performed the riff heard in the scene.
