This song is about how people treat celebrities like they're not really human. "I'm just like you, you're like me, imperfect and human are we" indicates is about how just because Melanie is a celebrity, that doesn't mean she's different from us. She's a human too and she's just like us and doesn't deserve to be treated any differently. "There are strangers taking pictures of me when I ask no more" is about how people take pictures of her without asking and apparently it's viewed as acceptable just because she's a famous celebrity.

"Harsh words if you don't get a pic with me" in 2016 april "fans" were taking pics and videos of her without her consent. She said "It's one thing to ask for a picture, but to just take pictures of me is kinda weird", APOLOGISED, said she doesn't feel comfortable and excused herself. The guy taking the video posted it online and SHE got a lot of backlash and insults for it.

Please I beg, watch the K-12 videos in order since all together its an entire film starring and produced by Melanie. It's truly one of her best works and every song has deep meanings and metaphors. This album is a lot of fans favorites. But truly the entirety of the films and albums story is powerful. I hope you guys enjoy her!

In an interview with Alternative Press Magazine, Melanie revealed that the song was written back in March 2017, when she was performing at Lollapalooza Festival in Brazil. She stated that she was alone in her hotel room, having the feeling of isolation, and being mistreated as a human; she decided to sing and make a voice memo of it, singing only the chorus part. Similarly to Dollhouse, the song is about how celebrities are portrayed as 'perfect' by the public as well as how they're treated in the music industry. The lines, "Harsh words if you don't get a pic with me" and "There are strangers taking pictures of me when I ask "no more", also speak on an incident from 2016 where Melanie stopped fans from taking pictures of her without consent. "Art don't sell" - she published her movie K-12 on RU-vid, available to everyone for free

I love Melanie and I’m so glad you’re reacting to her! Show and tell has always been one of my personal favorites 😊 If i may suggest a new artist? Try Ethel Cain; she’s sososo good, especially her songs American Teenager, Gibson Girl, Western Nights, and Inbred (the song, though Inbred the EP is awesome too.) she’s got this gothic Americana vibe to all her stuff, and her album Preacher’s Daughter has a whole storyline to it.

I hope you guys will get the chance to check out "Strawberry Shortcake" on her K-12 album, or even getting the chance to watch the whole movie. Im so excited for you guys to get through the K-12 era and hear her most recent album as well. all I'll say is that the formulas feel super refreshing and you can REALLY see her growth. it focuses less on calling out issues in society (for the most part) and focuses more on a personal healing journey. it doesnt feel as "circus-y" either, so maybe you'll enjoy that album more ?

Although each song does a wonderful job telling a story on its own, I highly recommend you guys react to any K-12 songs IN ORDER (per the album) due to all of them cohesively telling a story that goes along with her K-12 full length feature film (which is free to watch here on youtube on her YT channel)

Show and tell us such a good song on the k-12 album, if your starting the k-12 album def recommend either Detention or Highschool Sweethearts, those are super good (imo) but if you’re going back an forth between albums also recommend Pity party or Carousel, genuinely just love y’alls reaction videos nonetheless !

with the line about taking pictures of her there was actually an instance where a fan started randomly recording her as she was signing something for a fan and she said that it was weirding her out she said something along the lines of "it's okay to want a pics with me guys but to do it randomly is kinda weird" (not exactly what she said but there's a video somewhere) After this video of her saying this went online people gave her so much hate for it.
