"She's Been Grilled And Roasted!" Donald Macleod BLASTS Nicola Sturgeon's Covid Policy

Scotland's former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon gave evidence to the UK Covid Inquiry in Edinburgh on Wednesday.
She says none of the decisions she made during the pandemic were based on political considerations or trying to advance the cause of independence.
Sturgeon says: "I was motivated solely by trying to do the best we could to keep people as safe as possible."
The former SNP leader denied that the government's strategy was based on her instincts and that decisions were made by her and a small band of trusted advisers.
Earlier, she fought back tears as she said part of her wished she had not been first minister when the pandemic struck, adding that she did not use informal communications like WhatsApp to reach decisions or to have substantial discussions after admitting to deleting her messages.
TalkTV's Mike Graham is joined by columnist Donald Macleod MBE who slams the former First Minister for her Covid policy.

You don't know how right you are. When Labour set up Holyrood they built an electoral system to keep Tories out (not considering that the SNP would work out how to game it) and put in no checks and balances. There's no second house to ratify/veto legislation and the police and judiciary aren't separate and report directly to the FM. Holyrood is a despot's wet dream.

Anyone worried about missing WA texts needs to get a grip - if they don't exist, you can't judge what's in them or why they were deleted. If a specific policy advises they be deleted as a security measure, then that's all the excuse anyone would need. It's way more likely that 'incriminating' exchanges took place in person and in private. Personally, I think any Social Media or private device text exchanges should be banned. Governments never had this facility in the past, but did use memos which again could be lost or destroyed. If decision-making is now supported by informal electronic chatting, then it should be permanently archived. In the here-and-now, all ministerial/cabinet communications should be on or through an isolated government server, with no delete or auto-delete options.

Before you you very predictably bleat "what about Boris?", I would like to point out everything he did she turned up to 11 and power is much more centralised under the First Minister in Holyrood than it is under the Prime Minister in Westminster.

I havent owned a television for nearly 20 years now. During covid I broke the rules to visit my terminally ill mother across town almost daily. She owned a TV and after a few weeks i coukd not believe Sturgeon basically on every night giving a statement. Just a game of political one upmanship all the while playing with people lives. Made a dogs dinner of it all. She and her party have made Scotland a far worse and more dangerous place to live

i don't think any leader could have dealt with Covid perfectly, but the SNPs secrecy will not earn them the public's trust in the long run. having said that, at least elected politicians are accountable to voters - who are the WHO accountable to?

Nothing will happen to these people. Blair is another example. They are well protected.. her Lawyer Anwar is a family acquaintance, a pal. The Care home deaths are Scotland's crime of the century, the damage is done. A traitor to our people, our children, our Independence movement.
