When someone cleans for you, there's no exhaustion or lessons learned. She needs challenging on her decisions, like her son was doing. Chronic scoliosis and she's keeping those heeled boots? She needs to look after the bear, needs 5x pairs of summer sandals. She can't throw her cans away, you think she's going to steam her furniture? Guarantee if that steamer has been used it was once. Such a tough thing to overcome without therapeutical help.

I also thought that the heeled boots would be way too dangerous for her to wear, if she wears them at all. I think there were some definite hoarding tendencies there. It wasn't exactly rocket science either to have a bin near her desk for her empty soft drink cans. The son could have done that ages ago. I also wonder about the cats. There was no mention of cat litter trays, so do they go outside to do their business? If they can go out, she needs a cat door so they can go in and out as they need to. They grey cat looked very old and frail to me. I hope it's not suffering. Wouldn't she qualify for a subsidised cleaner once a week? Or the family can pay for one. It would be well worth it. A lot can be done by a good cleaner in an hour or so.

I also think it took so much for her to open her doors not only to strangers, but the world. That would have been so hard for her to do. She's frail, but she's not that frail- yet. Not putting those cans in the bin after they'd done all that work was insulting - in my opinion. It's not a mobility issue, that's laziness, she was capable of getting them in the first place, they weren't brought to her. Yannow? They have to play their part as well. The cats are another issue. You're absolutely right something needs to be done about setting up litter trays, but someone needs to clean them regularly as well. I really wish her well. My expectations aren't as high as my hope for her future

She's a hoarder and will probably hoard again even after it's been cleared; 90% of hoarders continue to hoard and re hoard for the rest of their lives.

My mother was a hoarder albeit not as bad as this one. I cleared out some of her house several times but it all came back. She didn't think she had a problem.

Hoarding requires a person who collects items. Looks like she has just quit cleaning and things are put everywhere and anywhere. I know this well. My house was so clean you could eat off the floors, I’m ill now so stuff is not being cleaned or put away. It’s so frustrating and I’m glad I have not gotten to her level!

Cats are very clean animals and they will go outside the litter box if it's not kept clean! If you have pets, it is your responsibility to take care of them properly or find someone else who will.

Honestly, I feel sorry for the cats. If the lady can't even put cans in the bin I can't imagine how their toilet looks. Also I am pretty sure there is not enough toilets for them considering I haven't even seen any cat beds or trees to climb and scratch on. Not even toys. Amount of toilets should usually be amount of cats+1 especially if you don't clean it daily. I have two cats and they have one toilet but I also clean their toilet 1-2x every day. They never pooed or peed anywhere outside their litter box cause it's always nice and clean. They never go to poo while there is another poo in the toilet. Idk why the lady blames the cats for the mess, it's absolutely not their fault. Horders shouldn't have pets period.

Cleaning someone's home is great but unless you treat the under-lining issues, it won't stay that way. I believe counseling could help. I hope good things for Anita and her family.

Depression in the elderly is a helluva thing. Hopefully she's getting some emotional support as well as maybe a cleaning lady once a month?

Best clean yet. She can buy a robot cat litter box that only needs to be cleaned once a week. Cats love them. Nice to see that the yard was mowed as well. She has really nice things, it's good to show them off. I have a similar back problem and I wheel around in my office chair to do minor cleans and at one time I did get overwhelmed, so my son hired a cleaner for every two weeks for a re-set and that seems to have done the trick.

I just love this show! Loved Haley on the obessive cleaners show and really appreciate how firm, practical, and kind she and the guys are on this show. I can tell she truly wants to improve the lives of these people. Hope she keeps this up for many years! And if she ever wants to jaunt across the pond, I'm in West Virginia USA and have a basement, garage, and den that could really use her help!

Omg your leaving those gorgeous dishes out for the cats to break..im nervous for those dishes and she should get an automatic litter box. Expensive but worth it especially for us older folk.

I think in this case that it is time for the family to decide whether an assisted living facility may be the best choice for this lady since she is having trouble with the basics of daily living. Unfortunately she can’t take proper care of those poor cats in her condition. It’s hard work to scoop multiple litter boxes every day, let alone changing the litter and hauling out the garbage bags. I took over my MIL’s 3 cats when we had an addiction built on to our house, and I already had 5 of my own. Thankfully I have a big house with a large property so they weren’t all inside all the time. Well except for the harsh Canadian winters…

I'm always amazed that hoarders can bring the stuff in, but refuse to take things out. Which is nothing more than just the opposite of bringing it in. Hire a cleaner. When people do that they tend to keep their home in much better condition, to avoid feeling embarrassed what the cleaner might think .

For me it's crafting supplies. I have the hobby of card making-- and the one for collecting items to do it with (far more than I need) They are very neat and organized though. I need to work on purging and stop acquiring. I didn't buy anything during the last 2 24-hour Craft Event on Home Shopping Network. I am proud of that-- but it still nags me what did I miss out on. Ya know that pesky little voice?

I get that her physical problem hinders her from vacuuming easily and all, but not putting a can in a trashcan is pure laziness. I hope she does better. Her son really should have to be the one doing anything in her house. He has his own home and a family and a job.

Why is Haley acting like the cats are the problem? I actually feel sorry for them. They need multiple litter boxes cleaned daily. What else are they supposed to do? This woman seems like a hoarder and someone with severe depression (and no motivation to clean, as a result.) She needs therapy and possibly meds for that.

She needs a weekly cleaner, that would solve this problem. She's doing what she can. Having been at one time in a wheelchair, I can empathize. Keeping the floors clear is essential. It seems like the show's hosts were doing a lot of time standing around looking at the cats, but that may be a misconception. I appreciate their efforts, but it seems like they would have been better off removing all the furniture from the bedroom, sort and box, clean, and then put the furniture back in. I wonder if the kitchen and bathroom were cleaned as well. The son is great. The cleaning caddy, though, ugly eyesore. Should not be out, in my opinion. I love the attitude here of kindness and help. Great job.
