Tommen’s rule does not make me want Joffrey back. Instead it makes me wish Tywin was back in action because he would have never allowed this sparrow shit to happen either. In fact the sparrows didn’t even appear in the city when Tywin was alive.

Actually, the Sparrows did appear before Tywin’s death. It was not very obvious, but the guy preaching against Joffrey and Tyrion (calling him ‘a demon monkey’) in season 2 was one of them. They were always there but they were isolated and mostly ignored.

@@Ashley_e lmfao you clearly weren't paying attention. Several times in the shows Dany mentions that Viserys and her had nothing before Illyrio gave them refuge. Her one dream is to find a stable home again. In the books it's much more prevalent. We even learn when Viserys starts to go mad. It's when he sells their mothers crown for food. They were literally beggars on the streets begging noble families to take care of them as they grew older and usually it ended with them tipping off Robert Baratheon to kill them. U should be happy and proud of Arya's decision, i was so proud but also worried for her at the same time. Arya has always been ARYA STARK at her core and i dont think its a coincidence that Jaquen sent her on Two assassin/faceless men jobs that lead to the first person on her list (Meryn Trant) & then to an actress in a play that shows her fathers being lied about yet again just like she had to before he died to save his daughters. & of course Arya relives her fathers execution while shes in a crowd again. I always believed Jaquen saw Arya as a special student & she definitely got special admission, hence Waif's instant jealously, plus shes also the first highborn to join the faceless men and Jaquen is a master at the game of faces, which means he knows when people are lying & he already told Arya during the game, that he knows she doesnt truly want to be no one, yet he continues to train her and give her special training which was made out to be a punishment too. (great senses due to training blind) The Waif is another clue to this being Arya's real test or purpose, since faceless men aren't meant to be emotional, petty and jealous, which the Waif has shown mulitple times towards Arya.

Sam's family The Tarleys of Horn Hill are a very old and well respected military family in The Reach sworn to House Tyrell. They're one of the oldest houses in the 7 kingdoms. The only battle Robert lost in his Rebellion was to Sam's father. I remember you asking what happened to Edmure after the red wedding, they just had him locked up at the Twins. He apparently knocked his bride up while everyone was getting murdered. Uncle Benjen, Jon and Beric Dondarrion are all "un-dead" they've all died but are still "alive" after being resurrected.

The play Arya sees in Braavos is actually a timely reminder about dynasties built on lies. It mirrors the "chaos and gaping pit" that Varys and Littlefinger talked about way back when: "What happens when we abandon that lie?" The revisionist history in that play is an often overlooked breadcrumb trail that leads you straight to THAT moment in the season finale. When Arya tells the actress how Cersei would've actually reacted to her son's death and she adopts it, that was a nice tweak too.

Honestly though if I wanted Tommen to be under the control of anyone, I would rather have him be under Margaery’s control more than Cersei and the High Sparrow because unlike those 2 I think Margaery actually has good intentions for the realm. She gives the people what they want, unlike Cersei and would probably train Tommen to do that as well. She would be great counsel for Tommen because she is smart, cunning, and knows what she is doing so she could teach Tommen some tips and tricks. Plus I think she could manipulate him into making good decisions as king so that way her and her family would remain popular but I also think she would allow her husband to be popular with the people as well. Even though Margaery is manipulative she isn’t violent. Notice that she has never tried to get Cersei killed, just send her away. And she had no part in Olenna’s plot to kill Joffrey remember? She seemed genuinely shocked that her grandmother would do such a thing? Even though Margaery would be in control I do think she would be able to mold Tommen into a pretty decent king from these reasons that I said. She could have if Cersei hadn’t have gotten in the way of things.

Great reaction. Don't worry, you're not the only one enjoying it. This is basically the reaction of most new reactors who go into it blind without any notions about all the online negativity. Remember that the Asoiaf purists who hate watch these reactions was a tiny percentage of everyone who was watching GoT back then. The casual viewers couldn't care less about what was in the books. Check the IMDB ratings, the unbelievable viewership numbers, the record breaking list of awards, all the articles, the insane popularity during that time...and you will get a much better estimation of just how big GoT was in the seasons after S4 than the hyper criticism of the Asoiaf purists. Everybody was watching this shit and I mean everybody. But they drove away pretty much the entire casual fanbase in the final season. The only ones who remained are the ones who've always dunked on the show, and that's how the purist "everything trash after s4" narrative became the dominant narrative. Cause nowdays you don't wanna get clowned for saying you once liked the show and everyone love to pretend they were reading the books since 2002. But back then it was a different story when this season and the next one was winning 20 something odd Emmys combined. End of the day, if you love it that's all that matters. "HBO’s “Game of Thrones” has been nominated for several Emmys this year, including outstanding drama series. Many have said this season is the best yet, and I have to agree. The spectacle of it all, the character development, the unfolding of the plot, the various themes from religious intrigue to political alliances have captivated audiences from beginning to end." Quoting the first stanza of a typical GoT review from the time of S6. This one's from Time Magazine I think. After S6 aired, many were saying it was one of the best seasons yet. All you have to do is google the reviews from that time to see just how incredibly complimentary the perception was back then.

You have to look at the Faceless Men like this. They serve the God of Death. In their view, if someone comes to them to hire them as an assassin, their God is sending that person to them. It is not theirs to question who the God sends to them to hire their services, nor is it their job to judge the person they are killing. Their job is to kill who ever is sent to them by their God period. Which is why they keep telling Arya she has to surrender her very self and whatever vengeance she still holds towards specific people.

This is a pretty good episode with a healthy balance between moments of bravado and moments of politics and scheming, all coming to a head with the curveball at the Sept as the Lannister-Tyrell plan goes tits up. An iconic ending last time, with a solid follow-up, Not bad, no bad. Sam's sweet nature/rational behavior is what gives him humility and insight into what the enemy is thinking(UnDead didn't waste time killing him) cause it wasn't his time to Die,they didn't see him a threat. If he had a weapon they might have had a different reaction(and in this instance,Sam Knew what they were thinking) I can't stand Ceresi,lol but she is who She is(but she's playing the short game plotting and scheming). Jothrey is just weird in some many words,but he's fearless. Arya,is making worrisome decisions however she's playing that role(if I were her,I wouldn't come back until I've got a crew of loyal followers) in words of Lord Aragon from LOTR's: " *Keep the enemy on yourself,While all other things Move!!* "

As one of Mace Tyrell's bannermen, Randyll fought in Robert's Rebellion on the side of House Targaryen. He defeated Robert Baratheon's forces at the Battle of Ashford. He is the only person to Defeat Robert Baratheon, so yea he's kind of a Hard Ass. If you recall Robert Talking about kills he mentions a Tarly boy he killed. How can Sam be brave if he's scared? That's the only time Sam CAN be Brave. The last Time you seen Edmure was s3 ep9. (His wedding)

Some awesome moments in this one. Last episode Baelish makes an off hand remark about rumors of Blackfish having retaken Riverrun and this episode we get the full picture with the return of the Late Walder Frey and Edmure, and the Lannisters themselves tangled up with Tommen appointing Jaime head of the army with the mission to take back Riverrun. Daario tells Dany it'll take a thousand ships to carry her invasion armada across the Narrow Sea and last episode we hear Euron Greyjoy telling the Ironborn "build me a thousand ships and I will give you this world". The seeds are first planted and then it's expanded upon, for the paths of all these personalities to intertwine. Back in the capital High Sparrow outmaneuvers the royals yet again. When Dany gives her grand spiel my mind races way back to the seventh episode, I hear Drogo saying "Anha vazhak maan Rhaeshis Andahl". I will give you the Land of the Andals. It definitely makes me feel some type of way. An epic ending and maybe premonition of things to come! The last shot with the dragon letting out a primal scream as it flaps its wings covering the length and breadth of the Dothraki below is imposing imagery. It's a clip worthy moment.

I feel like ppl are too hard on Tommen, lol. He's a kid with the most manipulative mother in the world always trying to tell him what he should and shouldn't do (even without the game of thrones world, a mother like Cersei would cause psychological strongholds that most ppl wouldn't overpower in their whole life, let alone at like 15 or whatever Tommen is). And not to mention, EVERYONE is trying to manipulate him, he truly has no one to turn to or trust. And I think this poor kid is doing his best to figure out what he should be doing, even though he has no idea what that is and no one he can really trust. And even being a clueless kid, he's still kind, and better than Joffrey ever was. K those are my thoughts on Tommen, lol.

For now... nobody in the story knows about Brandon Stark except for his current travel companions. Most characters protect him simply because he's one of the Stark children. Lineage of the Kings in the North. That makes most houses in the North loyal to the Stark family. Hodor protected him because he watched Brandon growing up. And you're right, Hodor is and isn't a Stark... he is a child belonging to one of the Stark servants/workers in Winterfel Edit: What you said in the end, regarding the way the books relate to the show... Season 6 and beyond are a little different from the rest. Prior to season 6 the show was an adaptation of the books, leaving out minor stuff, and beyond... the books were being written during the show's production. The last of the books came out after the show concluded, so the producers, who were in direct contact with the author, had SOME grey area to play. I haven't read the conclusion myself yet... but I'd imagine that there are quite a few differences. I'm not even sure if it ends the same way.

Your edits make me laugh so much lolol. We all have tongue twisters happen; especially when riled up. This show does a great job of riding us up. Uncle Benjen is like a half wight. He cannot go past the wall now due to the magic that prevents them from doing so, so he does what he can in the North. I like to think of the Dothrakis who value & respect power more than anything, respected Dany already for killing all the Khals & taking control, but then to see her mount is a HUGE, ferocious Dragon lol. Any that might have questioned following her were all in then.

For a second when Dario was looking at Danny you could see his admiration but deeper than that his fear and hesitation at her clear bloodlust and need to conquer.... Dario is underrated as heck as a chararcter in the show imo and the recast was very good as this new one is a much better actor than the original Dario.

EXACTLY! Infuriating! I want to squeeze Tommen! I know he’s a kid…BUT. No, Joffrey would never allow it. YET this is Cersei’s mess. But I can’t hold it against her🙁. I put myself, as a woman, in her shoes. Her father was killed. Tywin was her protector. He held the kingdom together. Then POOF she’s alone. I’d feel better the need to have strength at my disposal and in Westeros history the militant did operate with the Crown. Cersei tried. Failed. Now her own son is against her. Tragic tbh.

Tommen hates confrontation and takes whatever he feels is the easier way to keep the peace, he's also very gullible and meek, so The Sparrow manipulating him was easy and borderline effortless. I also do believe The Sparrow fully intended not to have Margery do the walk, but with Jaime and The Tyrell army showing up, it worked especially well in his favor and made him look benevolent when compared to those against him. The Freys are incompetent and cowadly, but you knew that already. With Roose and Tywin gone, Walder is entirely on his own as The Lannisters don't really care about him and Ramsay wouldn't lift a finger to assist them even in spite of both of them having their own problems to deal with (The Sparrows and Jon Snow/Sansa respectively. That Blackfish could round up enough support and take back Riverrun all on his own is telling of how much of a badass he is. Cersei is kind of an anti-heroine in this conflict, obviously she's done many terrible things and The Sparrows are a mess she herself made, and of course Jaime is much more likeable than she is, but the narrative makes her seem like the one to root for. If nothing else its easier to root against the Sparrows rather than Cersei :)

Major I realise you still have a way to go on thrones & I am loving every minute of it! But when it does come to an end would you please consider doing the Last Kingdom? It's a great show set in the era when the Vikings are raiding Britain and looking to completely take over. It follows the main character who was raised by Vikings as he tries to reclaim his birthright and along the way meets and helps Alfred the Great in his mission to form a single kingdom under a single King. TFW when you, like so many millions of fans, watched this season without knowing anything about the bad faith cynicism and pettiness of the online Asoiaf fandom, the forums and subreddits. See how great of an emotional reaction it brings out of you? It had the same effect on millions and was being showered with universal acclaim by critics back then. That's why I always get a kick out of the hindsight fault findings of the purists. It was always more about them expecting things to go in certain directions and then being furious that it didn't. How dare it not be predictable. This wasn't a fuckin netflix fantasy show. It was never gonna go down the beaten path. This was never about making you happy by giving the protagonists easy dubs. What it was gonna give you was a gripping tale that would take you to hell and back. That is why audiences all over the world were captivated. That is why they got an unprecedented number of emmys. That is why it's one of the most watched shows of all time and no amount of post season 8 rewriting history is gonna change that. Purists have a knee jerk reaction to hate everything that is critically acclaimed. To them it's almost as if GRRM's greatness cannot be established unless you go out of your way to shit on everything else. Some of the things they whine about is stupefyingly petty. Yet these 'experts' have the most remedial and shallownunderstanding of psychology which they try to hide by wishful Appeal To GRRM's unwritten work! I've seen toxic fandoms, but the pettiness and sycophancy of the freefolks sub type Asoiaf purists hellbent on discrediting even all the good stuff is next level psychotic.

@DKPseude

"He makes me wish Joffrey was back and I hate feeling that way." Joffrey was the perfect example based on numerous real historical figures of a ruler who was a sadistic psychopath. He embodied just how terrible it was to live under such a ruler, and Joffrey was just getting started before his death. Tommen shows the other extreme. He displays another frequent figure from real world history- the ruler who was too mild and kind. It's not as easy to grasp, especially for modern people. But a weak king who doesn't want to hurt and offend anyone is just as bad to live under as a cruel king like Joffrey. The show perfectly illustrates here why that's the case- a weak king doesn't harm his kingdom or subjects intentionally but in the end the results are undeniable.

@najeewattz2646
@najeewattz2646 2 года назад
I really don’t find Tommen weak. He is just young. He started asserting himself more when he got closer to Margery and trying to free her from the High Sparrow. I don’t feel like him wanting peace makes him weak. I’m sure if faced with the decision to go to war to defend Kings Landing he would. But he’s not even being threatened from the outside. Everyone is coming at him from within. His parents just want to use him to do their bidding. They didn’t have to worry about Joffrey because he loved the chaos just as much as they did. Tommen is trying to be for the people and bring peace to the realm. That’s not weak to me. But he was easily manipulated. Even though he now seems to have made up his mind to stick by Margery.
@garibaldstark3248
@garibaldstark3248 2 года назад
I know Tommen loves Margaery but do you think she loves for him? I say no she doesn’t love him but I think she genuinely likes him and cares for him because whenever Margaery manipulated Tommen she gave him win win solutions as well. When she manipulated him into sending Cersei away, yes it would benefit her because she would have more control over him but that result would benefit Tommen as well because I think Margaery would be good counsel for him don’t you think? She would influence him to make good decent decisions so they can become popular. I think they could have been good rulers so long as Tommen took Margaery’s advice. Same with the sparrow fiasco when Margaery got Tommen to side with the faith. Yes it would benefit her and Loras because their safety would be secured. But that benefited Tommen as well because when he made his speech the people of king’s landing were cheering were they not? That mean they were happy with what Margaery and Tommen did and they loved Tommen now because of that and not just Margaery now. Plus Tommen was more safer due to the fact that he was on the sparrow’s good side and on the people’s good side. I think even though Margaery‘s true loyalty is to her family, I also think she is somewhat loyal to Tommen despite him being weak because he is a sweet kind person, no different than Myrcella and Shireen is he not?

lets not forget that it's Cersei's fault that that high sept has taken over in the first place.
