Im on 4 instructor. I was on amd of with my driving with my first driving instructors due to over prioritys. Also my second driving instructor gave up being an instructor for another job. My third driving instructor was a driving trainee who joined his mam driving school. He was the youngest driving instructor in South Tyneside at ags 21. Unfortunately i had bad experience with him. I have dyslexia/dispraxia and it was a specialist school for learning difficulties and disabilitys. This driving instructor had same learning difficulties as me and i got recommended by his mam as he just started. He told me to stop driving and i started to question him how he managed to pass with the same learning difficulties. He told me to stop driving on one bad day i had. He also pulled at my wheel a lot and i have never had problems in the past with gears or steering. I felt his teaching was off to.I also found out he failed part 3 2 weeks ago and is no longer doing doing driving lessons when all the lessons had resumed affter lockdown. Soon afterwards i switching my instructor near Christmas last year. My current instructor been brilliant and has been very unstandble with my learning disabilities. It gives me hope with my confidents being knock down from my experience. Ive spent so much money i don't no how much. All i no is i need to drive as i cont realy on my partner to take me places to see family/work or shopping. Im nervous driver and sometimes instructions go over my head some time.

Lornas photobox, I have dyslexia and I passed my test and I’ve been an instructor for 38 years. I have also taught people with dyslexia so just ask around people for a good instructor who is kind and sympathetic and the best way to do that it’s called them up and keep asking them questions and if they try to get you off the phone they’re not the one for you but if they will talk to you as long as you need maybe to a winner.

I have been driving nine years. Had a couple of instructor's before I found a decent one. And when I was learning with him he couldn't understand why I hadn't been so alot more after 20 lessons with him I was test ready and passed first time. I do feel there are some just take the mick and milking money off some learners.

To be fair in few odd years they will phase out manuals anyways since they plan to ban patrol car and diesel car purchase at 2035. And since electric usually don't have manuals gearbox because there is no need of it just automatic that in addition to it is super simple kind of automatic transmission since they don't really need to change gears.

Reinis Ešenbergs either way there is more manual then automatic and you it isn’t as possible to have automatic as your first car compared to having a manual as your first.
@reinisesenbergs8312
@reinisesenbergs8312 4 года назад
@@T57395 yes it would be a pain in the arse to totally phase it out but it is possible if the electric cars get cheaper and have longer range and by looks of things the range is increasing quite often in innovations in battery technology. And since electric cars don't really have all that many parts that can break. Given that it has way less moving parts than combustion engine. Well, in pure theory there is a possibility of putting a manual gearbox in an electric car tho it will work on different principles than the current one. I think I read some article about one such car but I kinda forgot where and what was it been a while. And getting an automatic car isn't really all that hard anymore with the auto trader I've seen a bunch on thereof used and new cars. And hp thing is also available so it really depends how big will you have to get it. And I am not saying all should now change to automatic or something just saying that there isn't really that big need for manual car like maybe before but now there is literally a bunch and more cars available.

I did that, but I have a learning disability. I did try for about a year and a half driving in a manual and attempting tests, but just couldn't pass. Went for automatic in the end and passed first time. I've never struggled to find a small affordable car.

Hi there! A learning driver from Russia here, this came to my suggested videos =). From my experience, a decent instructor needs to have a thorough understanding that driving is scary and stressful, and different people need different amount of time and practice to feel confident enough. I am normally nowhere near being an anxious person, and now that I have discovered how difficult driving can be (driving in Moscow is mentally exhausting), I understand why there are so many people out there who genuinely think they won't ever be able to make it. Unfortunately, there are so many driving instructors out there who don't have the understanding, the patience, and the approach to help people who have high anxiety levels, or who don't feel confident enough, or who need to talk all the particular details through. That's why stories like this happen, and it seems that there are lots of people ending up in such a situation. It's great to see that Lilly is not giving up after such tremendous efforts. From what I saw here, she seems to have most of it, and she's going to get there. Good luck with the lessons!

Talking about the loyalty she has showed to her previous instructors but despite this she determined then ever to go down a different path, to find a method, a strategy that suits her needs and cannot think of a better driving school than go2. I can Relate to her in many ways I got anxiety, lack of confidence etc and I am currently learning to drive with M4 Motoring with Mark Hudson and he has reinvigorating the confidence I knew that I didn't have. So much respect and gratitude goes out to lily and all your hard work and perseverance will pay off. good luck lily!!

After watching several of Matt's videos, they have enhanced my driving lessons. I'm 35 and I'm now learning to drive for the 3rd time. My 1st time was when I was 17 and I was quite scared of the roads so I stopped. The 2nd time was when I was 25 but I had to stop as I suffered from severe hyperemesis gravidarum. But, now that I'm older, I'm much more focused and very determined to get my driving licence. I want to wish Lilly loads of luck and now know she will do well, under Matt's tuition. I'm looking forward to watching these videos. My jaw literally dropped when she said how much she has spent on driving lessons to date!

Lilly, I watch the video from start to finish. The thing I noticed in my opinion is you worry too much about the small things which will sort themselves out with time and the help of Matt. But you failed to notice you’re driving which was absolutely beautiful. What I mean how you dealt with the van and the car that cut the corner at the junction, that is real driving and all sorted by you alone. I also watch your feet and they were totally perfect in control, slow and steady and when you went to pulled away at one point towards the end you just squeeze the clutch back in a little bit to stop it moving without even thinking about it. I also noted you made a comment about not getting into second quick enough and this is just a little pointer I give to my pupils. Make pulling away and changing into second gear like one. Pull away and then don’t take your foot away from the clutch pedal just hover over the clutch so it’s ready to go straight back down and into second. I’ve seen it over the years so many pupils sit back and admire/criticising their pulling away and by then they should be in second. Just a thought. My 38 years of experience tells me you are going to make a great driver once you let yourself just drive and stop worrying about the small things. I was talking to one of my pupils today whose girlfriend tried to learn to ride a moped. The Instructor spent all this time shouting at her and put you off. I told him to tell her it says more about the instructor that does the pupil. The job of the drive instructor is to find the key to unlocking the pupils potential. You are in good hands with Matt. I would much rather teach a pupil like you any number of cocky young lads. Great start look forward to watching again.

OMG same! I did manual lessons and struggled with changing the gears. After 15 lessons with this one instructor he kept putting me down saying how rubbish I was etc, saying I needed to do Automatic. Thiz really hurt me, but I went on to do Automatic lessons with another instructor who kept eating my money saying I was never ready. When I made mistakes he shouted at me and got frustrated with me at times he even said I was one of the students I had the longest in his driving school. :( I felt like I was constantly paying for his holidays (as he went on trips alot) for me paying for my lessons in cash and I felt like he never wanted me to do well While I did my theory test and failed he told me to leave it and just carry on with lessons but I didn't give up. Finally, after 4 failed tests I finally passed my theory! Me thinking I was going to do my practical test and finish ended up being another 9 months of practising and more lessons tp be test ready. I kept getting nervous and anxious trying to be perfect (as I had loads of lessons in the Automatic car 🚗) and since at this point I spent about £3000 I just wanted to do well Everyone around me kept looking at me funny thinking I'm stupid for taking ages with my lessons so I just didn't talk about it anymore with anyone. Pandemic came, I changed instructors and still didn't help, another £1000 later... Oncw I passed my theory again 1st time (after Covid 19), I wasn't happy thinking if only this happened the 1st time round I wouldn't be in this situation. I was planning on doing an intensive driving course but couldn't face myself to pay even more money for lessons as I was feeling extremely anxious and nervous at the thought of driving the car on my own. Now I'm 27, its 2023 and I do want to go back and learn and pass this time! One day, in secret (I think when I'm married lol) I will do manual lessons and get there (I'm just sick of people judging me for taking forever to drive!). For now, I will just cycle everywhere but next :I want to start learning again (just so I can feel completely ()

Lilly firstly, you will be fine. This proves how vital it is to have an understanding of how the car works and to try various scenarios in the early lessons. It sounds like you have been put completely out of your depth through no fault of your own in the past. 60mph roads and dual Carraigeways and you are struggling to get the car moving at a decent rate should not have happened. It's all well and good driving for 2 hours but if you are not learning anything and there are basic issues cropping up you should be taken back to basics like Matt is doing with you now. The knowledge and control will build your confidence. Good luck and I'm looking forward to watching your journey in the lessons.

I had a similar experience as Lilly, nervous driver and several failed tests & instructors. l paid for 20 block hours at a time with 1st instructor who was friendly but made it clear driving lessons was a side job. After 40hrs I realised she had been controlling my clutch rather than explain how it worked! I gave up learning for a year, after failing my test several times then I tried again. I realised each instructor was trying to teach me "their" manoeuvres and it was confusing. My last instructor stepped in 2 weeks before my test, he basically assessed my knowledge then used the lessons to brush up my weak points and I passed with 2 minor faults, I was soo relieved as I was about to give up for good! That was in 2008 & it took me nearly 2 years to pass but I've been safely driving around the UK since. It's about the confidence of the driver, and a good driving instructor will help you to build your confidence, I just wish my last instructor was my 1st one and I may have passed alot sooner! One day I may feel confident enough to drive in other countries that drive on the other side of the road....

When I first started learning to drive, my instructor and I both said ok this may take awhile. Overall it took just under a year to pass, with a fair share of hurdles thrown in. Including about 3.5 months over lockdown where we couldnt have any lessons. The key is sticking with it, I found that after some time alot of it just clicked into place. Another thing is dont rush into anything, ask all of the questions you need to ask. Even if you've already asked it and you jsut want to clarify. I passed my test about 3 weeks ago, with 3 minor faults and I'm loving the freedom.

My first instructor was one for teaching the "how" but not the "why" and like this Lady i was one for needing to know the "why" you do something just so i had some context for when i should do x,y,z in a given situation. My Second instructor would give the "why" as well which was helpful to gel it all together in my head. And to be honest if it was not for the combination of my second instructor and the various instructors that post helpful RU-vid videos i probably would not have passed on my second go at the driving test :D It has been a year now and I still continue to watch these videos from them all as they can be very informative and may potentially show a scenario i have yet to be in myself.

Hi Lilly, I understand the stopping work to learn to drive, I have alot of anxiety too and get stressed if I rush home from work for a lesson. I've managed to schedule at least an hour between work and a lesson to calm my nerves. I've found the Head Space app very useful. Being in a better frame of mind at the start of my lessons has helped me to perform better and be able to take more in, which means I now feel more confident and don't need so much time to actively make myself calm.

If the car is in first gear and the engine down to idle speed you cannot slow further without depressing the clutch, if you brake more with the clutch up a stall will result. Do not forget that when you actually stop, a couple of car lengths before becoming stationary you fully depress the clutch to prevent the engine from stalling.
