What type of battery do you use with your Shearwater Perdix/Perdix AI? Normal AA (1.5 Alkaline), 1.5V Photo Lithium, 1.2V NiMH, 3.6V Saft or the 3.7V Li-Ion?

the 1.5v (like Energizer) or the 3.6V Saft?! I used the 3.6 few times, but they are expensive. the 1.5V lithium i used as well, but it is about 20% extra battery life, but the price is more than 20% of the normal alkaline battery. so at the moment i'm using the alkaline. but i'm thinking to change to the 3.7V Li-ion rechargeable, they are a high cost initial, but may be a good choise for the long run...the only downside is that is lower run that an alkaline...

@@PerezAdvent Shearwater could just make a cooperation with some battery manufacturer and sell a rechargeable power supply. better for the environment and for the user on the long run. A bit strange that functions depend on which power source you are using.

Hi @misterx6209, stopping using "single user" battery would be great, but loads of manufactures in many type of activities would need to change. but providing a rechargeable power supply will not help from my point of view. having a sealed rechargeable USB type option would be the preferable, but there are downsides to that. I think the current option allowing you to use multiple battery types is a good balance and you can choose what battery to use. if you think a chargeable option is the best, you probably already have the charger for that. now related the functions depending on the power souce, what you mean?

Always use lithium. They won’t leak if left in too long and have a better output than alkaline. Small price to pay for a much better battery. Plus, they can be recycled unlike alkaline which end up in trash.

fair point on the recycle option
