While I can absolutely see the advantage in an off grid situation have you worked out how long it will take for the unit to pay for itself with savings in power usage compared with getting a separate supply from your home?

Having to deal with the fun of health and safety at work, I just loved the sign on the machinery.. “ Not to be operated by fuckwits” …biggest laugh I ‘ve had in ages.🤣 You need to make some of those stickers. Great music choice too Gemma.😍

I remember an apprentice at the power station being given a sledgehammer for the first time during a turbine strip-down. He was supposed to hit a heavy duty (flogging) spanner but he let go of the hammer. It sailed serenely into the air and arched 50 feet down to the loading bay. Thankfully, nobody was hurt but he should have been trained properly in a safe environment. Even 40 years ago that was obvious.

Got a few stories like that: it's instructive that 'common sense' is retrospective, because in hindsight you didn't think anybody would need a 'don't do that' sticker, but a near miss or a hospital trip demonstrate that nothing's foolproof if there's a big enough fool around. Particularly remember one yopper requiring a trip to the eye hospital to have his peepers cleaned out and inspected, after he'd looked down the exhaust of a generator to see if it was coming on!

The Larch Clad Wood Company was first rate - their provided wood looks so great in your shop. The Eco Flow was fantastic and the level of power it could provide, almost unbelievable. This was the first episode I think I watched where your clothes and shoes were not covered in paint and caulk. I noticed on the long side walls you maintained a Roman Bond where cuts were made which to me looked great. The lights are so good and flooring is fantastic. I look forward to the decisions you will need to make to get the proper size power tools in this smaller workshop - at the other one you have such nice size saws and such which will require some painful decisions to be made. I am loving these Shed Happens episodes which so complement Ship Happens - you both are just great.

Your shot wandering merrily through the trees reminded me of an incident that happened to us in Taka Puna beach in New Zealand. It was a Friday evening and the place was full of trendy young people,we were just strolling along looking for a bar to have a drink in when a young lady in her twenties ran across the street exclaiming “ oh it is so nice to see old people holding hands”. We laughed out loud and told her we are only 50! Not that you two are anywhere near that age!

I've got a workshop of a similar size and all the units are on lockable castors so I can move them around - having the flexibility to have a chop saw in the middle of the room or some other piece of equipment really gives you more flexibility with the length and shape of wood etc that you're trying to work with.... keep up the good work - excellent build! 🙂

That was such a relaxing and fun video to watch. I think YT vids with construction are the most relaxing to watch. However, I can imagine they must be a pain in the arse to have to keep stopping and change the camera angle. I guess having 2 people makes it easier when one can do the job and the other can film. Great video guys love it. Wish my workshop build went up as quick as yours I’m just about a year into mine.

Nightclub ceiling with rustic cabin in the woods walls and a bright red floor, what a great mashup. The door looks so much better with the vertical cladding (sorry, Gemma). With horizontal cladding it would have felt claustrophobic. Definitely get a table saw, what we call a contractor saw in the states. Sturdy, accurate and portable. In fact, all your large tools should be on wheels. The space is so small you need to maximize flexibility. I would put a bandsaw low on the list.

Two points: 1) Need to avoid dust getting into your EcoFlow because they rely on free flowing air to keep cool. Maintain ambient temperature within manufacturer's specified limits. 2) Suggest using only oil filled radiators from a reputable manufacturer to heat the wooden shed as they are safer in that environment; also they can be controlled by inbuilt timer so as to be toasty for your arrival! (Avoid glowing heating element type heaters as they could start a fire if there were flamable vapours near, paint, varnish, petrol, spirits, etc.)

Simon assumed everyone knows what that black plastic is for. It’s not to keep the weather out. It’s to prevent (relatively) damp warm air from creeping into the insulation and condensing within the wall. It’s extremely important to avoid your structure getting damp and mouldy.
@dframeIII
@dframeIII 4 месяца назад
That depends on the climate and the direction of vapor pressure given the predominate climate conditions of the region. Here in Texas the vapor barrier goes on the outside of the wall, never the inside. From previous episodes did I also see a vapor barrier on the exterior of wall? If so, moisture is getting trapped somewhere.

Here is an Ecoflow question. So you have a small extension cord coming from the house (grid power) that is insufficient for powering your tools. The Ecoflow has the capacity to run your tools - so your tools are running on Ecoflow battery power. So here is the question; Can you plug your small extension cord into the Ecoflow to charge the batteries at the same time the batteries are running your tools? Why would you want to do that? To extend the operating cycle of the Ecoflow and to prevent drawing the batteries down below their rated lower limit. I would appreciate if you could answer that question. If the answer is yes, you can use the Ecoflow on Sarinda and charge it simultaneously with your solar panels. Love you guys! 😊👍

Get a good track saw. I think they’re more flexible than a small table saw. I think you need that coming from your current table saw. I have both but I don’t like using my small table saw on big panels. If I had to choose one…it’d be the track saw.

To go fast you need lots of power and multiple blades, or a two sided blade. Very expensive vertical(either band or circular) setups that needs lots of wood. Don't see many anymore big ones now-a-days as there are lots of people using smaller mills running 1000 to 3000 board feet a day. We used to have a 52" circular saw that ran an average of 5000 bf a day with 5 men, but our logs were in a pond to keep dirt off them which dulled the teeth. We ran the mill including the jack ladder off a 33hp Petter diesel
