That church is very well attended. It is also part of our British heritage as you know. The other building that you pointed out at the start of your video, is getting a more and more common sight. In fact, it's documented that the Muslim communities up and down the country, are buying old abandoned churches and converting them into mosques. It's our fault. We've let it happen.
Good video Tim, you summed it up in your opening shots. We have lost our Judeo/Christian foundations. The opening shot of your video shows what is filling the void.
Played in there as a kid was full of grave stones Mum was born and lived on St Johns road in 1920 now blocked off. Family had the corner shop at the bottom junction with cricket inn road. Good memories "cheers Tim".
Thanks for doing the video of this area because my brother lives in park hill flats and I have not seen the area for years. In 2006 I attended services at the church which has a very nice interior. Glad to hear services are going well. In 2006 I noticed the church was used by christians who did not have English as their native language. If churches are having trouble, then they should let the church building be used by other Christians who do not have English as their first language so the church building can still exist as a Christian church.
that's what I was saying on the video you did about Kelham no green spaces no where to sit or eat outside,but I lived on the park hill flats and they had a balcony and I used to go and sunbathe on the slope behind the station but it's overgrown now,and they used to have a greyhound track behind the Hyde park flats,as for the mosque no what can you say without a back lash
I have seen the images of the flats on Sheffield is moving forward in the 70s, looked fantastic with all the flats and green space, why weren't they maintained. As for the comparison we don't need to say a thing do we.
@timawells don't no I left in 85 and I think it was in the 90s they neglected the grass on the hill just let it grow ,but they were really good inside the flats all the rooms on one level and some on different levels but as per usual they started to down hill with the people they were putting in the flats same with Hyde park but enjoyed my time there nice people good old fashioned shops and pubs on the complex
