Hmmm. 2 years after Maggie came to power 50,000 people in Sheffield had lost skilled engineering jobs. It probably explains why the enthusiasm for Sheffield was so high pre Maggie.

I think by the end of the 70's & into the 80's it was in decline. Pity.
