@@EricEsteppEric what about Kyle Sieg doing a blowover at Michigan? What do you think about nascar’s job with the roof flaps failing to deploy when the car got backwards? Do you think nascar will investigate and fix the problem?
Give me a break about Dillon. It was Dillons race and someone wanted stenhouse to take a dive. To many races being settled by overtime. Best car rarely wins and it is sad.
Yeah, imagine Joey Logano Mickey Mousing his way into 2 wins. I’m so tired of late race cautions and GWC finishes. It’s like if, in football, they tied the score at the 2 minute warning and made it sudden death from there. Either that, or make all GWC overtime’s single file restarts. It will help prevent the whole “rolling advantage” (or just give the cars some horsepower where that doesn’t matter).
@@nathan1sixteenI like the idea of single file restarts. It's only fair to the person who was leading the race, especially the way guys are jumping and rolling restarts. Edit: It's kind of odd to think that Ryan Preece has been the cause of or has been involved in a crash that has resulted in multiple OT finishes this year.
I think Nascar should race to scheduled distance like they used to in the 90s and what every other current motorsport does it like Indycar. F1, etc. No more overtime/GWC. That way it eliminates most of the controversy and the deserving winner wins the race.
I got to meet with Brennan Poole this past Saturday at Michigan. Told him I was a fan of Power Hour. I was rooting for him but I think his engine blew after 60-65 laps.
What would be funny if after all your talk, Creed ends up winning 3 or 4 races in the playoffs and the title. I mean, it's not really a stretch to see it happening since he's consistently in contention.
feels weird eric is dunking on creed so much. called him old n young in the same speech and spoke of him being a top 7 xfinity driver at 26, idk eric gives a lot of guys grace but feels like very heavy criticism for creed a couple times now
I dunno man, the line isn’t clear at all to me. You all keep saying he was 4 car lengths back when you couldn’t have fit two cars between Joey and Austin before corner entry. I personally think the line he crossed is simple: one of the wrecked cars was from Penske, and the other wrecked car was from Gibbs. It matters who you do it to, and you’re lying if you say it doesn’t.
Hearing those 2 drivers complain was the biggest hypocrisy I've seen in a while. Both would have done the same thing in his shoes but act like they wouldn't
KB is right! Drivers dont know where its at because Logano and Hamlin seem to bump, wreck and win whenever they want to. Nothing is ever done to them, nothing. So where is the line? Is it when you make a big stink and burn out on pit road?
Joey has dumped more people at 160-170 in the middle of the corner. What happens when a stock car turn sideways around 160 it could catch air people. People like Larry Mac and Tim Brewer have said so in the past. Hit someone around 90mph big freaking deal. Dillon was not going to have a GWC take his 3 second lead and win away
If Austin Dillon spotter can get suspended for telling him wreck someone, then Austin should get suspended a race for actually wrecking Denny Hamlin. Let alone right hooking him into the wall! RCR appeal should bring this extra suspension on! I feel appealing is adding insult to injury.
The key here is blatantly wrecking TWO cars for the win. I truly believe had he just wrecked Logano for the win nothing would have come of it. But to wreck a second car in the same turn, and to do it by right hooking them into the wall is definitely over the line. It’s interesting that most of the people, that are in the sport, that have given their opinion publicly in support of Dillon have two things in common. 1) they generally only mention the Logano crash and tend to gloss over the right hook. 2) most all of them have current or former ties with RCR. I guarantee if Bush was in Hamlin’s place he’d know exactly where that line is!
Ok bear with me here as I am no Dillon fan at all. Watch the replay of the wreck on this video at 0.25 speed. You will clearly see that Hamlin drove up into him and hits Dillon. Then Dillon turns left right after the contact by Hamlin to try and stabilize himself. That clears him of fault on Hamlin. I love how the car lengths started out at 5 behind Logano the night of the wreck and now it’s down to 3…..which I feel is correct……after many people have reviewed and now realize it was not 5 or 4 car lengths back. This was good hard racing by nascars fault with these silly overtime and win to get in rules. The right call would have been a monetary penalty of $100k split between the 11 and 22.
@extragoogleaccount6061 we all have eyes and hamlin came up and dillon saved himself from wrecking. Also the Logano spin isn't worthy of taking the win. He wasn't that far back. Not close enough for a bump amd run but neither was busch at Chicago and he wrecked Larson for the win and he hit the apron just so he would make it larson
The drivers know where the line is. They know right from wrong. They just say that so they can use it as an excuse to punt the next car out of their way when it suits them.
Listen. If you can get to the leaders bumper and just can't clear them, then I agree with moving them out of the way. But, to blatantly over drive the turn to where your just shy of wrecking yourself just to take out the leader, then you have went to far, Richmond was a perfect storm example of why that should not happen, Hamlin was just a victim of circumstance of Dillon's actions. I know accidents happen, but that whole situation did not start as an accident...
Of course, all the Dillon-style nonsense would be eliminated if they just got rid of the "win and in" qualifier. I am not a fan of playoffs in motorsport but if NASCAR thinks they have to have them, take the top 10 or 12 guys on points after the designated number of races and there are your playoff drivers. Then the playoffs would mean something by rewarding the top teams and drivers for season long excellence. Now, some clown circulating at the back can fluke a win and, poof, he's in the playoffs. Ridiculous.
Also, overtime. There are too many back markers who race WAY too hard for 25th making stupid aggressive move with less than 10 laps to go. They do it purely because they know they have an opportunity make up spots on a restart,m, and they also know that cautions breed cautions, and there’s an opportunity to improve their finishing position purely based on late race attrition and/or fuel mileage (you burn more fuel running up front). Get rid of both the playoffs and overtime, and a lot of this BS will end.
Eric, you yourself have said NASCAR is consistently inconsistent. Brad Keselowski’s comment is honestly likely the most accurate to describe what will happen in the future. I don’t think the line is as clear as you seem to think it is.
Right rear hooking is crossing a line. A line that wasn’t helped by the caution that preceded it, I rewatched it and it’s clear NASCAR needs to deal with late race cautions that probably could be avoided.
@@23lacrossyes, but with that, if intentionally wrecking people is now penalized, Stenhouse should’ve also been penalized as he just drove through Preece there to bring out the caution. Like, he made Dillon look like he nailed the corner on the last lap. Stenhouse didn’t even touch the brakes before wrecking Preece and destroying his own car. It’s it’s illegal to do it for 1st place, it’s illegal to do it for 21st place.
They love the late race cautions, they won't do anything!! They just absolutely love the shit that comes with promoting all the chaos even if it gives racing a black eye
@@nathan1sixteen Stenhouse obviously didn’t intentionally take out Preece. He was trying to stay on the lead lap and overshot the corner. Yeah he intentionally wanted to finish 30 something and not 16th. Jeez you guys are so weird.
Martin Truex Jr took 10 years to win his 3rd NASCAR Cup Series race. If it was not 10 years in between his first and second win in the series. MTJ must be glad that NASCAR Judgements via RU-vid once were not a thing
Austin crossed the line as he came from so far back at full speed and then wrecked Denny of course too an then there was his jerk spotter adding to Austin's decision. ALL over the line and rightfully penalized.
Eric ...With rain delays, maybe the racing can be started on East coast, than go west that has better weather at the end of season. Tickets cost $$$$ to be rained out. Go east at 1st start of season, than head west for the ending season. East weather always seem to get delayed, at end of season. Just a thought.
I think going to Bowman Grey is the worst pick they've made for a clash venue in a long time. LA colosseum was a bit of a novelty, but more importantly it broke into a new market, even if it didn't pan as well when the SuperBowl wasn't in town. They have the opportunity to either try a new track type or expand into a new market, and going to Bowman Grey does neither. I would rather see them return to Daytona if only to save the teams the extra headache of relocating in 2 weeks back for the 500 if we aren't doing something new. The only upside to Bowman Grey is its in NASCAR's backyard, but there's half a dozen tracks that fit that description, and all would be a better venue then "the madhouse." North Carolina is also typically moist and wet in February, so good chance it gets rained/snowed out.
Hey Eric, IDK if you’re reading this comment or not but i just wanted to say… #1 good vid and… #2 could you maybe share your thoughts on the finish of the Xfinity race from Saturday in like a shorts or something like that cuz that Kyle Sieg flip was WILD. I’m glad he’s alright after that cuz that was crazy, especially due to the fact that Sieg’s roof flaps didn’t even deploy.
If Creed doesn't finish top two the rest of the year, 1/9th of his starts as a full-time driver will have resulted in a second place finish. Currently, at 87 starts as a full-timer, he's had a little over 1/8th of his starts result in a second place finish. I don't care if he can't win, that excites me if I'm looking for talent
I could see it getting overturned purely on the premise of “NASCAR didn’t deem the action bad enough to strip the trophy/money from him, so how did they determine it was bad enough for him not to make the playoffs”. In my opinion, NASCAR tried to have its cake and eat it too with their penalty. You can’t say both “what you did was so bad we’re stripping you of playoff eligibility over it” and “you can keep the win” in the same breathe. You either have to take all of it or none of it. NASCAR obviously didn’t think it was bad enough to take all of it, so, they shouldn’t take any of it. It feels super arbitrary how they determined the penalty, which is why I feel there is a chance it gets overturned.
@@nathan1sixteenI agree. he can keep the trophy, the win, and the money but not the playoff side, that’s pretty hypocritical on nascars part. It wasn’t bad enough to dq but was bad enough to take the playoff eligibility?
I think Austin Dillon should win the appeal. I just think you have to take everything into account when making a crazy decision like this. The dude was 2 laps away from winning straight up when a d bag racing for 30th wrecked for no reason. If he would've been 3rd all night and never lead I'd agree with it, I think Austin Dillon deserves the playof spot it's not like it's a real thing... whoever gets the spot is gonna be out in the first round.
What about when Elliott blew the corner at bristol and wrecked joey why doesn't anyone talk about that its only when its a driver people hate that they remember
Meh. NASCAR has taken wins away before for taking out the leader, and that didn't sink the sport. In fact, most people don't even recall the last time it happened.
Another RU-vidr put out a video saying we need to go back to points and I highly agree. I wish you could touch on that subject and see what people think we’ve gotten so far away from the original NASCAR a win doesn’t mean as much anymore in the same way.
I cannot wait for the Clash at Bowman Gray. So, NASCAR is not totally out of touch with things like this, bringing back Rockingham and North Wilkesboro Speedway.
February 2 at Bowman Gray has a high probability of cold weather with snow possible. Could be the factor in having the schedule nuked like it was in LA knowing NASCAR’s prowess with meteorology.
@@CPO-Snarky And it could be fine. We will not know when we get to February 2. I was for putting the all-star race at Boman Gray, not the clash. Stop being negative and just be happy that Nascar is racing at Bowman Gray, again.
Creed and Mayer maybe have a clearer path to cup with Ford but Haas won't perform as well as JRM and JGR. Still want Jones swapped out for Kvapil full-time at JRM. All for a 1 or 2 off Bowman Gray Clash. Brazil 🇧🇷 idea is very interesting though.
Was it room to pass at LA . Did you enjoy watching the race at LA. Bowman Gray race will be no different than LA same size track same racing grove it will be a lot of bump and run but it works this will save nascar owners a ton of money in fuel and other expenses BGS is only a hour away from Charlotte so no hotel expenses everyone can sleep in there own bed no cross country driving all you need use is a half of tank of fuel to get there and back ,These drivers already competed at BGS in the k&N pro series chase Elliot Kyle Lawson William Byron Bubba Wallace Daniel Suarez and many others that’s in one of nascar top series right now. You can still watch those K&N races in its entirety at BGS on RU-vid just type in Hall of fame 150 at Bowman Gray Stadium
I think everyine forgott kyle petty in the all star 1992 i think when he spun out dale sr and davey allison and in the process hurt davey allison with concussion , i dont remember nascar penalize him with that and it is similar who we see last week
Once again another wrong take on Sheldon with and 7th and points no stage points and lead laps. How many times has he started from the rear because of engines and adjustments where he starts at the back. How many DNFs does he have because of blown engines and broken parts. That is why he doesn't have stage points that is why he's 7th and points
Sam Mayer needs to more consistent maybe win a Xfinity championship before moving to Cup. JR Motorsports is the best team in the Xfinity series so why leave it.
It doesn’t matter if he wins a xfinity championship just because you win a xfinity championship doesn’t mean you’ll win a cup championship cup is different from xfinity!
The line should be, you can't wreck the leader coming to the checkered flag! Also adding glow lights under the cars or wheels would be totally awesome!! 💯
Eric, true or false, Briscoe sending it in under Reddick at Bristol Dirt for the win, taking them both out, was the SAME as what Dillion did at least to Lagano, and literally no one was even mad and said “had to go for it”. ???
So, is the new line “you can wreck 1 guy for the win and we’ll turn a blind eye, but if you wreck 2 you’ve gone too far”? Or is the line “you can’t intentionally wreck someone for the win”. You keep saying “you can’t intentionally wreck someone for the win, but intentionally wrecking for the win has been a thing in NASCAR for a long time. The “Bump and Run” is essentially trying to wreck someone for the win. What Logano did to Byron at Darlington the other year, Bowman did to Hamlin (this one was late in the race, but not last lap, so maybe not), Joey did to Kyle Busch, Newman did to Kyle Larson. Those were all intentional wrecks. As Denny Hamlin said last year (paraphrased), “the outcome of the action shouldn’t dictate whether NASCAR takes action”. Wrecking someone is wrecking someone. How you do it or the time of the race you do it shouldn’t make a difference. According to this logic, Ricky Stenhouse Jr should be penalized for wrecking Ryan Preece with 2 laps to go. He went into the corner with no intention of making it and literally just drove through Preece. If it’s illegal for Dillon to do it for 1st, it’s illegal for Stenhouse to do it for 21st.
McDowell nailed it. A back of the field team wrecking the leader to win is just wrong. It's black and white. Especially with all the information that's available showing what the driver was doing at the time.
I think mayor and creed can help eachother a lot I feel creeds a very steady driver and mayors more of a pop off then drop off I think they can learn from eachother it may be a great thing or I may be way off
I don't know If they know the line. Remebrt when Harvick tried to spin someone at Martinsville to try to get in to the final 4. Like granted we don't talk about it bc it never came to vision for Harvick but the line could have been drawn a couple of years ago.....
I like Creed and nothing wrong with him staying in Xfinity for his career. Not sure why he would want to move from JGR in the Xfinity series. They have such strong cars! And Mayer leaving JRM for Haas factory is quite ridiculous. If he wants to go Cup racing he needs to be auditioning at every race. Like you said Eric, perhaps he was not invited back to JRM.
