Sample: diameter 2.92
What does the test show?
The friction test is to show the oil film's resistance to tearing (oil film strength).
Metal parts in the engine during operation (friction, e.g. pistons) can lead to scratches and nicks. The better the oil quality, the better it should protect the engine against their formation.

How does the test work?
A new sample is subjected to metal to metal friction under a 1kg load for 5 minutes. The diameter of the specimen is then measured at its lowest point. Each new sample has a diameter of 2.92. The lower the result the better.

Guys any advice, I have BMW 640xD 2014. Last night info display shows me to add 1l of oil, I stop at a nearest gas station and buy this oil and top up. My service is due in 15 days, can I drive the car with this oil untill then?

Для 0 раунда хорошие показатели от 0.01 до 0.05, у этого средний результат

@@bofor7493 Which engine oil is excellent? When you get nice friction results, we don't know how it behaves in the engine at different temperatures. Typically when used in diesel engines how fast it clogs DPF and in gasoline GPF engines. Which is most important how long it is used in the engine. Oils with the worst friction test protects truck engines for many millions of Km.
