Groovy ! I fondly recall watching this show as a kid in the mid-60s. As I recall it was a Saturday morning kiddie game show on the ABC network. The host (Broadway star Stubby Kaye) had kids from the audience to wacky things to win prizes, which were almost always games from the Milton Bradley company (the show's sponsor). Thank you so very much for uploading this delightful "blast from the past" for us Baby Boomers to enjoy ! CHEERS !! :-)
Nice! Watched this all the time as a kid. Notice in the background as Stubby walks, the original "Operation" just like the game, "Sword of Damocles" where I believe the contestant had to answer a question, and if wrong , Sword swung down; "Pie in the Eye", where contestant had to time a throw of a pie into a large eye with an eyelid that kept closing. I even had the Shenanigans Board Game. Wow!
@@anthonyfrail2286 - So cool! Were you hearing the "Shenanigans" theme song in your head as you were playing the game? How did you get the game, was it used or New Old Stock? I can't imagine all the pieces would all still be there. One of my favorite moments in the TV show was when the kid contestants had to take giant steps / leaps to each new square, and you didn't know where they would land until they got there. If I remember correctly, the "Sword of Damocles" plastic pieces setup was beyond my capabilities at the time. And the tiddley wink "Pie in the Eye" was a real challenge.
I used to watch this at my grandmother's house whenever we visited for the weekend. We even bought the game and my siblings and I played it all the time.
You said it. Since this show was shortlived I had the memory of it far back in my mind so that seeing this brief clip was like finding treasure, long hidden away in the corner of a stuffy attic.
Thank you for posting this! I remembered this theme song all these years, nearly 60, and loved Stubby Kaye. Like another poster I also grew up in Boston. Much better times!
Wow.. I had a board game when I was a kid called "Shenanigans" -- with Bowlarama and such... but I had no idea until now that it was based on an actual TV Game Show... how neat!!
Oh man , this brings me back , I was 7 years old when Shenanigans came on and my mom got me the board game for Christmas . Precious memories ! Sniff ! Sniff ! 😊
THIS CHILDREN'S GAME SHOW SHENANIGAN'S WAS NOTHING MORE THAN TO PROMOTE MILTON BRADLEY GAME'S I REMEMBER WATCHING IT ON SATURDAY MORNING'S BACK IN 1964 WHEN I WAS 4 YEAR'S OLD IT'S ONE GREAT GREAT MEMORIE SEEING IT AGAIN.
I loved this show when I was a kid, but I seem to remember the original game having a man-sized hourglass holder for large dice which was turned over to show how many steps the kids were to advance. Is that right? Board game had it too.
