This type of corruption goes on in every law enforcement department. Small towns especially do things like this and nobody will stand up, like this deputy did.
Daniel Green Perfect example of why the king appointed the coroner to supervise the sheriff and still today coroner has arrest Powers over the sheriff and if at any point the sheriff cannot fulfill his role and has deputy chief it's unavailable the coroner is the acting sheriff of the county.

Kenazzle the internal affairs they are part of the police department through internal affairs they're not going to find that a cop that's in their office a guilty of anything is that is a fact
In most places internal affairs is ran and overseen by the same police department so reporting the cop who wronged you without hard evidence usually backfires and all the piggies go ha ha ha , all the way back to the precinct.

+Eric Jenkins Unfortunately these County Sheriff's have been corrupt as long as I can remember. It is mostly technology, cameras everywhere, and computer records from dispatch that allow these bastards to get caught. Google Former Tennessee Sheriff Robert Arnold. He is a federal prisoner now, his uncle and chief administrator awaiting sentencing on Federal charges. The County Attorney has been placed under house arrest in an unrelated Insider Trading case. The Probation office settled out of court for $14 million due to unlawful imprisonment, criminal conspiracy and more. That is just one county. I could name 2 others as bad or worse but I will wait for the Federal indictments.
Then we the people should remove him. A Sheriff dictatorship? Only public physical action can right that wrong. The good old boys networks are on the ropes.
It's great that the Sheriff got justice served to him, however by and far that is NOT the case. When deputies go against the Sheriff they are putting their career's on the line and they usually lose because the Sheriff is supported by the County board and the corporation counsel. I had a Sheriff whom I had made a complaint about when he was a deputy himself for intentionally damaging people's cars and I was supported by 4 other officers. They did nothing to him at that time but within 3 months they charged one of the witnesses with tampering with evidence. Then the jerk got elected Sheriff and he managed to fire everyone who had made any complaint about him. I was fired 4 times, each time taking it to court and winning, but it took a toll on me and my family and the last time it went all the way to the state Supreme Court and although I won it did not stop them from gigging me for anything they could such as not having my tie on while at coffee ( it was blood splattered from an incident hours before). I went from having the highest department evaluations 8 years in a row to having the worst and lowest scoring evaluations starting the year he was elected. Then when I was seriously injured on the job and had to take a medical retirement he cut off my medical payments for the 4 years it took me to win in court and have them reinstated. THAT is how it usually goes when you try to do the right thing and people have no understanding of these things. They call it the blue line or what ever, we called it survival.
Sheriff Manfre of Flagler county did a similar thing when he got elected. Many outstanding officers were fired because they did not support him in the election and those that did support him got raised. From what I know he is a crooked cop. Actually he was not even a policeman but a politician. He could not even pass the shooting test. After failing more than once he got a private instructor to sign him off. He is also a glory hound posting his name on police vehicles and other places and doing many radio commercials to keep his name out there. There have been many scandals with him and I hope he is not re-elected.

Actually, it's not typical of the way many more honest and good officers that easily outnumber this creep. The "One bad apple" theory does not apply to people.
We investigated our fellow officers and found that, even though they were arguing opposite each other , they were both 100% correct in all ways possible.
"I wanted to show my deputies who the boss is" There is a difference between a boss and a leader. A boss bosses other people for his own benefit. A leader leads for the benefit of those he's in charge of. This "Boss" gave his subordinates a horrible example and his deputies were put in a bad spot: do what's right or do what the "Boss" says. The deputy should be rewarded for standing up and doing right, get his job back with back pay. Where do you get the back pay from? The "Boss's" pocket.

One incident from May 2012 involved Garza getting into a physical altercation with one of his deputies after the deputy refused Garza’s order to let a friend of his off on a DWI. Garza subsequently served a four-month suspension and was placed on one-year suspension by the state Law Enforcement Academy Board. In February, the Attorney General’s Office brought charges of tampering with public records and criminal solicitation, both fourth-degree felonies, stemming from a burglary of approximately 20 firearms. It is that case in which Garza pleaded no contest to tampering with public records. Embattled Mora County Sheriff Thomas Garza resigned last week as part of a plea agreement in which he surrendered his law enforcement certification and pleaded no contest to tampering with public records for having deputies falsify reports in 2012. Fourth Judicial District Court Judge Gerald Baca accepted the plea and issued a year’s deferred sentence with unsupervised probation. If Garza violates his probation, he could be put in jail for the remainder of the sentence. Garza, who began his term as sheriff on Jan. 1, 2011, resigned effective Dec. 12, the same day the plea deal was accepted. As part of the plea, he also agreed never to seek certification again as a sworn law enforcement officer.
Prime example of abuse of power. That is why members of the public think they can do what they want if they know some high ranking officer. That Sheriff does not deserve to wear that badge. It's supposed to be a symbol of public trust, but officers like him is why the public distrust law enforcement.
Yeah I was law enforcement at one time and I also work for a piece of crap Sheriff. I was fired for basically the same reason standing up to the sheriff when he was wrong. Sometimes Sheriff's have friends that donate big money to the Department, it's all politics. I should have sued the SOB! After the sheriff did what he did they tried to talk me into quitting and when that didn't work they wanted to put me at the courthouse take my patrol car and lower my pay by $2 an hour and take my insurance. That's how crooked they were. I did not want to fire me they were afraid that I would sue because I had plenty of evidence. But the truth of the matter is I was just happy to get out of that line of work. 95% of the guys I work with were really good guys and straight up professionals, but there was always that 5%. You couldn't pay me enough money to go back to that line of work been-there-done-that.
