Sheriff, If you are reading this, you should definitely create a Police Ed course and training online for basic police skills and knowledge for all 50 states and then each department sort out the difference in rules and laws in their state. @@nickroth593 not just a great example, he is doing the heavy work and patrolling the streets. Issue Nick is it’s also Location based. The safest city in Florida is Marco Island. Why? It’s a joint effort between the city and the police department. Everyone gets ticketed for speeding, beaches loitering , drunk, etc. I haven’t seen one homeless person, predator, or anything in Marco Island. Now, the city side is tough. Their rules and regulations are beyond crazy. Trash bins moved, cars need to be correctly park in driveway, anything out of the ordinary you get fined. Social nightclubs are non existent, you need to go into the next town. It’s generally a tourist area heavily patrolled and family friendly. Imagine going to a neighborhood where you see all garages are open and doors unlocked. That’s the level of confidence in this city. It’s a joint effort.
Fully agree. I don't agree with Grady Judd's political views one bit but there is one thing you can't ignore no matter what you believe - and that is that this man gets results in his position. He would benefit so many if he was able to implement a training program for LE nationally.

God knows there is enough crime in Polk County to keep this guy supplied with new material for years. He is blessed to be sheriff of a county that has such rampant crime, because it gives him ample opportunity to get in front of the cameras to entertain the masses. I imagine that some sheriffs in other parts of the country with less crime than Florida are envious of the position he is in. Not all of them are so fortunate, because their jurisdictions are so peaceful, orderly and quiet.

Although they made a great effort to arrest these suspects I feel it was carried out very unprofessionally. It is as if this has never happened in their community and need to go out of their way to prove how much better they are than the criminals they arrested. I feel like LAPD and NYPD would arrest people like that on a fairly regular basis
We do too. Ours sucks. We are stuck with a police department of 'good ole boys club'. From the local PD all the way to prosecutors. (I say yhis having no criminal record and never being arrested/jailed.) Polk County is blessed, for sure!

When I here 17 it stings me. I was 17 when I went through some unimaginable things, my mother always told me I was an adult and to toughen up. But I was a child and deserved to be protected, as a 28 year old women. I feel for that little girl inside me who was not protected by there parents of society.

This man is effective in much more than just an official law-enforcement capacity, but as a person who seeks to help those who have been victimized by speaking so forcefully on behalf of the victims. As a sidenote, he did not stammer one single time. True professionalism.
Amen! We need more like him and his team. Hopefully he will get an opportunity to join with other quality Law Enforcement professionals to develop training on best practices such as this. This is the kind of thing that communities are seeking when they talk about restructuring of police departments. It’s not about reducing funding but rather making them more effective and responsive to the needs of the communities they serve so that things like wrap around services and early intervention become the norm rather than the exception. True police reform seeks to strengthen communities and the relationships between police and communities. This is a fine example of the benefits of such a program. Keep up the great work!
