Shift Register in digital electronics
A shift register is a digital circuit that stores and shifts binary data. It consists of a series of flip-flops connected in a chain, where each flip-flop represents a bit.
Types of shift registers:
1. Serial-in-serial-out (SISO): Data is shifted in and out one bit at a time.
2. Serial-in-parallel-out (SIPO): Data is shifted in one bit at a time, but output is parallel.
3. Parallel-in-serial-out (PISO): Data is input in parallel, but output is one bit at a time.
4. Parallel-in-parallel-out (PIPO): Data is input and output in parallel.
