very smart man to buy a left handed reel. Only makes sense so you don't have to be switching hands! you bought a sweet reel. enjoy it! I have two too!!
It's a great reel, much better overall then the 200k and a slight step up from the SLX XT. Shimano did a very good job with this one as far as performance and price point
Yeah man I like it a lot. 😎 I was throwing a 1/4oz dropshot in some serious wind the other day and it was getting out there good. I want that SLX XT also! Might grab one of those next! Lol 😂
@@WhereWeWild indeed I have a handful of both the 150 and the SLX XT. If you are not a huge tackle Junkie like I am then my honest opinion is save the money by more SLX XT. They fish above their price point and they're right there as far as performance of the 150 Shimano curado
@@makcatchem9614 Cool man I appreciate the info… 👊🏽 Unfortunately though, I am also a huge tackle junkie! 🤦🏻♂️😂😂😂😂 (As I’m replying to this comment, I am modifying an old Zara Spook adding split rings and new hooks.) 😂🎣🤙🏽
You will get a better & far more distance if use 15lb/20lb braided line, set a centrifugal 1 on 5 off & outside dial set to number 2.. will get distance more than 50metre if use 6ft 3inch rod 👍🏼
@@FZMHMD11 This reel bombs now that it’s broken in 😎🤙🏽 I don’t really like braid on casting reels because it can often dig into itself, lock up the reel and send your lure into space 🚀🤦🏻♂️🤣
My suggestion is to adjust the tension knob to the point where the spool has barely any side to side play even if it the lure falls fast it increased my distance a lot more
@baliton is right. If youre loosening that tension knob, in thinking that it might increase your casting distance, its true, but if the spool loose much more at some point it can "rattling" during lure thrown in the air, somehow the castability is just not there. That "rattling" kinda give a little bit resistance if i can say..
Thanks man! 👊🏽😊 Yeah haha Shimano is the only brand I put on my rods. 😂 Diawa makes some really great reels too obviously, but I’m just a Shimano guy. 🤷🏻♂️😎
I bought one and love it. Mine didn’t come with the Bantam oil. I called Shimano USA and they told me they stopped including it in the box. Dirty 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah it’s so weird, haha sometimes they have oil in the box when I get a new reel and sometimes they don’t 🤷🏻♂️😂 But regardless I mostly like to use Lucas Reel oil anyway, good stuff. 😊🤙🏽
Hello, I just picked up this reel. Does your star drag feel like it moves in and out; almost as if it wants to spring out? It’s not the handle i tried to tighten it. Is mine just defective . Thanks
Hmmm that’s weird yeah mine is solid. I was going to say make sure everything is tightened all the way but if you tried I’m not sure. Maybe you did just get a defective one and should try to get a replacement if you can to see. It’s a great reel I love it. I’m sorry you’re having some bad luck with yours, sometimes that’s just how it goes unfortunately buying stuff 🤦🏻♂️
I chipped a little bit of the paint of the tiny screw when trying to tighten it… hopefully bass pro doesn’t make a big deal about it. Thanks for the reassurance.
12lb ande's mono for smaller crankbaits, 12lb sunline fluoro for jerkbaits and finesse jigs. i never run braid on a baitcaster unless its 65lb on a punch/frog rod and thats not what this reel is for. i run mine on a 6 foot 6 daiwa procyon medium fast and can pitch some really small baits with ease on it.
Sorry I never saw this comment! Like my dude above said it all depends on what baits and techniques you’re trying to throw. But the majority of my casting reels have either mono or flouro, as braid likes to dig into itself a lot on casters and can send your lure soaring into space, haha plus I like having a little stretch. It’s a lot of personal preference and technique specific and simply what you have confidence in. 🤙🏽
Bought mine couple days ago, haven’t tried it yet, but plan to go to the lake soon, planning to put braid 20 pounds on it, I have a rod rated for 1/8 to 3/4 oz 7 foot, I wonder if I am overdoing it with the line
@@expomm Test it out! Should be fine. If not you can always try something different. Here where I fish I have to use a clear leader cause the fish are really finicky, so on all my spinning rods I have 20lb-50lb braid to an 8lb-17lb mono or fluoro leader depending on what I’m throwing and trying to catch. So on this casting reel I decided to just go straight 8lb-10lb mono and it’s been great. I throw mostly lighter stuff on it. I love braid but it can dig into itself sometimes on a bait caster and your lure ends up flying the furthest you ever seen one go! 🚀😂
It’s really up to you brother whatever you like using! And it also depends what type of baits you’re trying to fish and what conditions you’re fishing. Most would probably have braid to a mono or fluoro leader though I’d think. Right now I actually just have straight mono on this reel and it’s been great! 😂
