Really insightful video, first time I was replacing a cable by myself and it helped a ton. Every detail is covered, hats off.

Thank you for doing this video. I had the exact same problem but I didn't remember how to replace the cable in the shifter. You showed exactly what to do which allowed me to pull out the broken end of the cable and put in the new cable. Fixing broken Dura Ace shifter cables can be a real PITA. Your video helped me do it correctly without breaking the shifter. Thanks!!

Brilliant…I didn’t have the confidence before to do this kind of maintenance myself…now following your videos I’ve just replaced the gear cable successfully! Cheers and keep up the good work👍

Thank you! Your videos are absolutely the best. This one helped me today. This is my first time working on a gravel bike I didn't know about that bottom screw on the shifter and couldn't remove the old cable until I saw your video. Many thanks!

Thank you thank you thank you. I've been having trouble with this before and sending my bike to a shop every time but tried it myself and thanks to the details in opening up the handle was able to get it right (finally). It was a matter of resetting the shifter to the right place.

Great video with very thorough instructions on how to replace a shifter cable. I need to buy all the tools and work stand. It will be a piecemeal affair one tool at a time.

Fun to watch! For me - just by playing the ST lever in-between gears is enough to fish the cable out of the lever, without disassembling entire piece. But hey, you're sure there's no leftovers and gunk inside.

Maybe it's just rose tinted glasses but my old 9 speed dura ace 7700 was the lightest shifting system I've ever had. Changing a cable was a 5 min job. I even used to carry a spare in my seat bag so I could fix it at the roadside. No chance these days, its a big job, as you've clearly shown.

Great channel very professional. You can save some money by using an old length of inner gear and brake cable for guides just peel away the outer shell and you have both sizes of inner sleeve so you can use whichever cable you are changing

Just the best instruction videos. Thanks again for all you do. Is this tubing available from bike shops or Amazon etc?

@@FreeToCycle I see stuff on Ebay described as lubed cable housing for internally routed cables, but is that what you were using or something else? The tubing you were using looked narrower to me.

Do not try to do this yourself. Save your self the frustration and throw your bike on the trash.
