Personally phys costing hp is also a good balancing tool for phys. phys is usually busted strength wise but with paying hp its riskier to use and not just free like in smt v

I would agree with you, but in Nocturne full heal spells were dirt cheap and easy to speed-tune. So basically every turn was tanking the enemy's damage, spending just a little more HP on physical skills, then healing back to full. Basically no risk
