Not surprising. Most of the people in the crowd are broke college kids who have nothing to lose and can only go to Shine because they're all too broke to afford to go to any other Smash tournament. I doubt most of these kids are actual Mango fans and only wanted Mango to win for the hype.

Because people doesn't like that one character/player that makes top level Melee look like Smash 4, myself included, although I do not hate Hbox by any means, I just hate the character that is Jigglypuff. Kind of sucks out the fun of watching Melee. I get that some people find it extremely hype, and I don't fault them for that. I just find it boring as hell and usually skip Hbox sets entirely these days. Again, nothing against Hbox, but its just not entertaining to watch.

There are some people that like entertainment and flashy and then there are some people that like winning and pure competition. Flashy and the "exciting" part of melee is just surface level IMO. I find this set very entertaining just because of the underlying reading/counter fights going on. But most people just wanna see the no-depth surface level flashy momentum playing. And probs to hbox, honestly while watching this set I was thinking damn puff is just so bad compared to fox, and I thought that amongst other clear reasons because hbox wasn't using its biggest strength, which is ledge camping and he still won! He played mangos game against fox! He didn't even play his own usual game and still fucking won. Listen mango may be hype sometime and also win in an amazing ways but he's not about winning. Mango is all about emotional momentum that's why his fan base is so big cause who doesn't like that emotional spike you get from this. But this separates people some play it to win and for the competition and some play it for the emotions. And those people watching/playing for emotions cannot appreciate hboxs style because he's about winning. Hbox has all the social power and confidence stand against him, like obviously mango is more popular and hbox is even hated by a lot of people. Just ask yourself if you could play your best if half the people hate you and most cheer for your opponent, but hbox doesn't give a shit about it and still wins. Not many people would have that willpower and phycological strength to do that and yet mangos ass gets more respect than hbox.( I don't hate mango btw, I understand and respect what he is about) People are fucking stupid honestly. If mango was in that position he wouldn't do shit. He would cry and go home. The people that talk the loudest are rarely the ones that win the most just remember that. The quiet ones focused on their game are the ones that win and succeed.

that's so funny because when hbox isn't ledgecamping constantly in a game i find his sets to be just as hype. Sure some of them can be very long and drawn out but i'm always anticipating a rest and hbox's combos are filthy

I honestly think it was more of a fan thing. Not only the hype but a "it's possible if you convert" hope for other falco mains. Respect to him and hopefully PP makes a comeback soon. His play style is much needed in the scene.

Exactly, Mango was testing out Falco to prove to other Falco's who just lazily switch to Fox because it's easier that this match up is possible for Falco, and they need to pick up the slack. Westballz is one of these people.

Hbox reacted, worked to slow the map down, and adjusted to the Fox play. Notice HBox towards the last two matches (that he won) added in more neutral airs and less ground game that went well against Falco. I don't think it really proved anything about how Fox was that much better than Falco here. Are you certain he is just "wow, he should always play Fox vs Puff", based on such a set of circumstances? If he masters the Falco play, he might actually be better off.
