As a visual artist, I often talk about hitting that point between being enigmatic and accessible. Pink Floyd at their best do that at an extremely high level. Even though they were around in my youth, I have only really listened to them in recent years, and like you, I am struck by how moving their music is. Nothing is in a hurry to reveal itself, every part is given its own time to evolve, and their sense of dynamics in the arrangements is phenomenal. Shine on, Sarah!
It is great to see someone feel the music. You feel it like a lot of us lucky ones do. Simply watching you be moved by the music brings a little water to the eye
Im a young guy. ive only been listening to it for 40 years, but I relate. Seems the older i get, the more emotional i get over most of their songs. My daughter just looks at me like WTH is wrong with you. Shes only thirteen so shes clueless.
So many people would love to hear these songs for the first time again. I think some of us don't realize that after so many years, songs grow and change for us. People love these kind of vids because it brings them home again. Thanks for the vids!
I’m an old dude, but I’ll always remember where i was in my teens when i listened to this masterpiece for the first time…. It blew my mind… All the different feelings and emotions you go through listening to this is crazy…. This is music for the soul. Loved your reaction to this.
I think people tend to forget there's a part 6-9. Even when seeing Pink Floyd 'live' in concert.... ( 5 times over the decades )....they only play parts 1-5. It's just as unique & wonderful in its own way. Thankyou for reacting to it.
Lovely reaction, when you said 'something beautiful to grow old with' sums Pink Floyd up . Doesn't matter what age you first hear them , once you do there is no backing out lol
My lovely love. Its so heart warming to know that the sound of Floyd lives on with the next generation.. I was raised I the Floyd era and still today I find myself swep up as when I was❤
"Thanks to have learned music to grow old with. Forever hooked." What a great pleasure to see someone having the same feeling as myself fifty years ago. Beware, Sarah, you are not just growing old with this band and its music, you'll take it with you after life. Wherever that is. Yeah, Echoes!! Looking forward to it.
In 1976 French composer Jean-Michel Jarre release the album "Oxygen" which got quite some notice.... However when you listen to the last few Parts of SOYCD I can't help think Pink Floyd had already done it a little over a year earlier..... Still I guess everything is builds on what's been done before 😊
Sarah..as usual, your appreciation of music is obvious from your reaction while listening, and your analysis following the song. The Pink Floyd experience is both revelatory and immersive. So happy to see you are exploring their work! Thank you. And please, do not let the moving process stress you out. Because it is a series of steps, you can only accomplish one thing at a time...then move on. If you work the task at hand, you will concentrate on your progress, rather than be overwhelmed with all that has yet to be done.🙏❤
Sarah, so happy to see that you are doing a reaction to the second part of this piece.....have to wait until later to watch, I can't wait. If you want to try another Pink Floyd journey, another really good one is "Dogs" and I would recommend the studio version w/lyrics. Thank you so much for doing this reaction. :)
It's not the only song Pink Floyd remembered Syd Barrett. For example, the title song "Wish You Were Here" is on this album. Wonderful thing. Listen to...
I've seen them 3 times and Roger Watters once solo....some of the highlights of my long varied concert goings since ELP in 1971...there's another killer group Sarah...Emerson Lake and Palmer...will totally blow your mind
Your comment something amazing to grow old with, how wonderful, very life affirming and as with those of us that appreciate Pink Floyd a real treasure to have in our lives
Don't get me wrong: "Shine On" is a masterpiece from the beginning to the end. But I must point out that the first part (I-V), the most famous, is mainly a slow, contemplative and, I have to be frank, pretty conventional blues, while it is this second, overlooked part, VI-IX, that carries the fire for real! Much more energy, much more crazyness. This is the real treasure! By far the best piece in this album.
Still remember i was 10 years old when i first heard this LP. And i was blown away. I am one of the lucky humanbeings who saw them live. 6th of august 1994 in Basel/Switzerland. That was an out of body experience. One of a kind band that i will listen to, til i die.
Watching it touch you was a joy. So powerful, so thought provoking right! - no one is quite like them for doing this. Close your eyes and listen to the full album. When you reopen them you’ll be changed. Enjoy your reactions Sarah

Everyone has their own favourite Floyd albums but for me it's Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and Animals which were the soundtrack of my teenage years. You can really hear the new direction that the band was taking in the Meddle album with tracks like "One of These Days" and "Echoes" and yet it still retains some of the English quirkiness of the early Floyd. There's a beautiful recording of the last time that David Gilmour and Rick Wright played Echoes together here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zrProK5R7ms.html Or you could go back in time to this version when Gilmour and Waters were still friends: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y-E7_VHLvkE.html at Pompeii
I have probably never agreed with a comment more. Those are the only PF albums for me. Before Meddle they were a bit too unrefined, and after Animals they just tried to out-do their previous masterpieces. Personally I can't stand the Wall.
@@brandbird Absolutely agree about The Wall - four sides of navel gazing, whinging and mother issues. Its only redeeming feature was Comfortably Numb...
@@keeffyg Yes, The Wall. I tried to like it, because everybody says it´s a masterpiece. Can´t get it though. It´s not for me. I find it bombastic and dare I say pretentious. Couple of songs I like are Mother and Young Lust. Comfortably Numb I realy do not like. Maybe I heard it too often or it´s just that I find it not interesting, too boring. To each his own I guess. Personally I would like to ad The Division Bell as a great album. Yes, it´s a different sound and perhaps a bit too poppy for some, but at least it´s good pop.
@@praapje Something about the feel of Comfortably Numb resonates with me and feels very familiar. The guitar solos are pretty good too (as are those on the live versions of Hey You). Each to their own I guess. I quite like The Division Bell but although Gilmour writes some really nice tunes his lyrics rarely seem to have the depth and emotion of Waters' work. The Final Cut isn't particularly memorable but there is an edge to Gilmour's guitar solos that always makes me feel that it was his way of expressing his emotions as things fell apart. There's a nice dance between the bitterness of Waters' words and the bite of the guitar as it cuts in. However you look at it they made a lot of good music over the years and with their light shows and sound systems they were a pretty impressive sight in a big stadium long before many others could put on that sort of show.
Something amazing to grow old with…yes, indeed Sarah. I have been a devoted Pink Floyd fan since I was in high school 50 years ago. Time, Great Gig in the Sky, and Shine On You Crazy Diamond will be played at my funeral, whenever and wherever that takes place. You and I will grow old and die one day, but their music never will.
Remember hearing for the first time and comparing the start of part 6 to One of these Days, as it continues you can hear more of that Meddle track, music magnificence right there, love seeing it so appreciated by a much younger person too.
We are all blessed and the better for it for likes of Pink Floyd to of graced themslelves in our time and presence !Your summation of this epic track with 9 parts is heartfelt and right on. No matter what one's doing PF can come on in any day and change it for the better, many thanks.
The Sarah Dengler Pink Floyd Channel returns finally! You appeared way more happy after listening to Pink Floyd than you were at the start of the video :) Just saying.....!
Hi Sarah, another great Pink Floyd reaction. I know you appreciate the audience and we appreciate your genuine and very natural reactions. I liked how you picked up on the repeated guitar sound from parts 1-5. This is the perfect music to play to in the background when moving house as people come and go. I helped my mother move many times in my teens all the way into my 30's, right up until a couple of years before she passed away. My parents had divorced so I sort of became her adult male helper, moving things around as required. On moving day she always got very emotional and would be in tears. I always had to put things down and help her think positively, while trying to pack everything last minute before the removal guys came. I sense your emotion. You are never alone. I wish you all the best for a positive day. God bless you and your little family.
Always like your Floyd vids, gives me time to sit and relax to the old greats again. Dave's first guitar solo is done on lap steel (slide) that he plays sometimes. Cool Clavinet licks from Rick Wright towards the end. Edit: good luck on your move!
Very nice choice - and you found the way to listen to their music: headphones, eyes closed, maybe dim the light down and let them get you. I understand this is not well usable for reactions, but sometimes you can do what's best for you and not for us.
So lovely to watch you getting into this track Sarah, yes it is very beautiful with wonderful tones and colours and moods all creatively entwined into one masterpiece. I have come to the opinion that this album is even better than Dark Side of the moon. I luv Dark Side don't get me wrong but the production and layers of perfectly chosen tones and musical motifs, are improved and just brilliant and so satisfying..
Moving is NO fun, that's for sure, so thanx for taking the time to entertain us with your reaction to side 2 of Wish You Were Here! Regarding "the start" of part 6, you may remember that the blowing wind actually begins at the end of part 5... It is indeed "all connected"! IMO, every lp as a whole, beginning at least with Ummagumma and going all the way to The Wall, is a total experience that you will enjoy equally... Further, The Wall was made into a feature length rock-opera film, with many of the individual songs available on YT. Check out the film version of Comfortably Numb to see what's available there! Wishing you and your partner happiness in your new home.
Sweet reaction Sarah. Looking forward to more. You should try David Gilmours "On an Island", "High Hopes" and "Smile". I think you will love "Smile". David's wife Polly wrote the lyrics.
I like the fact that you project the lyrics in semi-transparency. Well done. I don't know why I identify myself with the cover of this album? But one thing is certain, this song always warms me up, even though it gives me chills.
There is another band from the same time period (early 70's) called YES.....any studio versions of the songs "Roundabout" "Starship Trooper" .... "And You And I" ... "Heart of the Sunrise" ... "Yours Is No Disgrace" ... and the long 20 minute track "Close To The Edge" any of those are really great tracks. Yes is also progressive rock and they use all kind of electronic goodies to enhance their songs.....you could check those out at some point....
Dark Side Of The Moon & Wish You Were Here (this track is from there) are masterpieces, treat yourself to some cd's & listen in your own time, absorb what I enjoyed in my 20's
Keep in mind that the Echoes live in Pompeii is broken into two parts/videos. Many reactors only react to the first part/video and never react to the rest of the song.
I hope you are ok. I will be praying for God's protection over you, all the way from Santa rosa, California USA. God bless you. Have faith. I pray those floods end and you are safe.
13:30 -- The very last notes of this are from one of their first singles with former leader Syd Barrett, whom "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is all about, entitled "See Emily Play." ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7c0EDM-Yu9o.html
Sarah, I enjoyed your reaction to both halves of this Pink Floyd masterpiece so much! I wish you much success and happiness on your channel, and would appreciate it if you could consider one day reacting to "Love Of My Life" by Queen, live at Wembley Stadium, 1986! We are glad you were introduced to Pink Floyd too! Take care,
Sometimes human beings can surprise you with great beauty in our artworks. I pray when the ET's come here this is the part of humanity that can give them hope we can progress from a species of stumble demented child-kings.
13:31 You can hear Richard Write quote from “See Emily Play” which was a very early Syd Barrett song from Pink Floyd. music.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HwV3aTh6pi8.html&feature=share The band`s work with Syd puts everything they did up to Animals into perspective and makes the experience that much richer.
