SHINING A PAIR OF VINTAGE ALLEN EDMONDS-Sanford in Walnut Shine Tutorial 

HI, PRESTON!! This Wednesday, I'll be losing my left leg, as I've already lost my right leg. I'm sitting here in kind of a pity party, wondering what I'll be able to do, physically, until I get prosthetics in a year. I saw that you posted video, and had to watch! I'm thinking about making jewelry for ladies, and shining shoes for the men. I don't want to feel useless, either financially or around the house. I'll still be able to do the dishes, laundry, sweep, etc., but at least I'm over my pity party, thanks to you! I use to shine my ex-husband's military boots and shoes, and always accomplished a mirror shine, but I've learned so much from you and your videos! Thank you, Preston, for being here to encourage me to do something I use to really enjoy doing! ❤️

In case you haven't figured it out yet, so many of us watch you shine shoes because it's almost as cathartic as shining them ourselves. I find shining shoes quite relaxing, but I don't have so many pairs to shine.

I’ve got two pair of five eyelet Sanfords! One is walnut, and it’s more orange than modern walnut.

Perhaps you could gift us with a video on lacing options. Apparently I'm a boring diagonal lacer, but this pair presented with horizontal lacing raises intriguing possibilities.

Good job! I noticed you used Saphir colored wax after you use the shoe cream. Do you ever use a neutral wax instead? It can get pricey to get every color cream and wax in Saphir products but if it’s a lot better I’ll make the investment.

Beautiful. I have the newer Sanfords. I like the 5 hole versus the 4 hole. Still a very nice shoe. Very comfortable

Is there a maximum amount of layers of the renovator? I ask because I’ve been using it on a new pair of liane shoes and it’s just soaking up each layer. It leaves the finish very dull and even with brushing the best I get is a sheen. Just waiting for the medal creamer to come. I’ve tried mirror gloss and water previously but can’t get anything like the shine you get. Great videos 👍

Hello Preston! I’m about to buy some Saphir because you’ve sold me on it but an idea for a future video would be showing us the products you use and the different uses they have. For example you could say wax for a high shine or cream to cover up scratches. Thank you!

Do you notice any big differences in quality between older Allen Edmonds and newer ones?

Crazy how much walnut has changed. Now its a pale yellow instead of a more chestnut-like color like in the video

/looks at feet Wait, I'm wearing a pair of light brown (maybe walnut) AE Sanfords with ...1, 2, 3, 4, 5! eyelets. Second hands and didn't realize how vintage they might be... Anyone want to unroll the numbers: 8D 83033 7 then 5267 Comb. 3952 //looks up current Sanfords Yup. 4 on the new stuff.

Back when Allen Edmonds took their quality control seriously.

My cobbler told me today that Allen Edmonds was just purchased by a Chinese company. Not sure it’s true but I hope not.
