As a diehard Shining fan, having been introduced to you guys through Blackjazz (which is my favorite Shining album) and been part of the Shining fanbase ever since, I have to say that this performance, and album, is one of the best live performances I've ever seen. The production, camera works, arrangement, and everything is just so tight that it blew my mind as much as when I first heard Blackjazz 14 years ago. And the Ihsahn encore is perfect. Love it.
Wow! Thanks a million for that lovely comment! Very glad you like this one, and that we've managed to create a new and fresh version of the Blackjazz album! I always thought it deserved a live version.
Holy cow. I can sort of understand how you can play that album with enough practice, but HOW DO YOU DO IT WITH STROBE LIGHTS CONSTANTLY FLASHING IN YOUR EYES?!?!!?! GENIUS.
I've never seen anything like it... This is for sure, one of the most avant-garde bands in the world. And i like the term Black Jazz.... I've never seen you live, but would not miss the show, if it was near me in Denmark. Skandinavian black artform.. William Blakes dark description of Jehova and his desperate creation, becomes even more fantastic, with this chaos in the background ❤😳🤔🤘❤️
Our age is indecent, to enjoy such content, such quality...FOR FREE! It wasn't even hoped for and yet it far exceeds all expectations, Thank you for this magical gift, which reminds us just how much BLACKJAZZ is a major album in the history of music.
Hehe! Thanks a lot for your lovely comment! Yeah, it's a bit crazy to give such stuff out for free, because it's definitely not free to make, but I guess that's how the world is right now. Very glad you like it!
You can say that I learned about Shining through a feat with Ihsahn. And Ihsahn is a guarantee of quality; Ihsahn will cooperate only with great musicians. I decided to get to know you better. And - oh yes! This is a great genre - blackjazz. And you are simply fantastic, cool, highly professional musicians, virtuoso musicians. And your music is just crazy beautiful. This music is what I've been missing. Thank you for your creativity, for this concert. An hour of incredible space flight. 🤘🔥🎷🎸🎹🥁 I translated it using Google Translate, so sorry if anything is wrong or awkward.
Absolutely amazing. Many times since hearing Blackjazz, I've pondered the myriad ways this music could be married with the visual aesthetic it demands and deserves. Rest assured, boys--with this, you've achieved a hypnotic, brutal & ethereal matrimony. By the power vested in me by Excellentmusicaltaste, I now pronounce you Holy and Fuck.
Glad you dig it! The lineup has changed all the time, and the shows after Blackjazz consisted more of older songs than of Blackjazz. People hated Blackjazz when it came out, hehe! So there's no original Blackjazz concert lineup. But on the album we had Torstein on drums, Even on guitars, Massive on keys, Kreken on bass and myself on the rest. On this version it's Tobias on drums, Sagen on guitar, Eirik on keys, Ole on bass and myself. So everyone is different except me. Hehe! But an awesome lineup nevertheless!
@@ShiningNorway Cool that we can watch and hear both bands play the music! I know it's tightly written, but I'm sure the personalities of the players come out too. Great job!
@@timyoung6535 I agree! It's great to hear the same piece of music being played by a different set of musicians. Then you'll get to hear it from another perspective.
