Yes, Masahiko Yoshimura (the original composer), rearranged not only this tune, but all the tunes from the game with this orchestral quality for the official OST released in Japan back then. A charm. And if you search hard enough, you could find this OST in mp3 format somewhere on the web by the name of "Shining and the Darkness" (notice the "and", not "in", as in the name of the game in Japan :)
This arranged version is from the official OST CD of the game composed by Masahiko Yoshimura and released in Japan back then. It includes all the themes from the MegaDrive game in arranged orchestral version. I managed to find it somewhere on the web in mp3 format. It's really great and sounds absolutely epic for who played the game. Notice that the OST is named "Shining AND the Darkness", not "Shining IN the Darkness", because it was the original name of the game in Japan.
@shiloushilou I'm all for that! I'd rather play a re-imagined version of Shining In The Darkness instead of those so-called RPG's like the Elder Scrolls games.
@tigereye04 Agreed! I remember when I first got this game back in 1992, I was about 11 couldn't get into it at the time, because I had also gotten Final Fantasy 3, Zelda a Link to the Past, and Wanderers from Ys. It was very difficult, and then in 93 during the end summer I started playing it, and got to the end during the fall, after I had sent away to get those much needed maps lol. Felt so good to get so strong and then beat this game, loved it, and then I got hooked on Shining Force series
