Making him OP was such an ingenious move, you'll get attached to him both in and outside of combat, before he transferred to the big kitchen in the sky
He's also useful in the dungeon area that shows up weakness wise too. The also do this with Junpei in reverse, in the story when Mitsuru becomes a party member, fire-weak enemies become rarer and that lines up with his insecurities if being overshadowed and weak, until Chidori powers him up, after which he gets over it and becomes extremely relevant to weaknesses. The progression of the gameplay syncing with character development feels pretty unique tbh
@@bloodyidit4506 I think it's less deep than that lol. When you get a new party member enemies with said weaknesses show up. I highly doubt fire-weak enemies not showing up has anything to do with Junpei and moreso that Mitsuru showing up means that that block is now filled with Ice-weak enemies.
Devs: We have heard the community's feedback and are currently working on a balance patch. This update will be released on October 4th, thank you for playing our game.
Oh my god, I searched up that date to see if anything happened on that date in P3 and it turns out it's the date of Shinji's death. I swear, if they actually did that, they'd be twisting the knife, covering it in salt, then twisting it some more.
I told my friend 3 years ago to not use him in his P3P playthrough cuz he “ends up getting nerfed and his final build isn’t that great”. He never finished that game until P3R and he finally understood what “getting nerfed” meant.
I played fes before my sister got into P3P and she told me she heard he dies and I said "Nah, he's in The Answer" and she thought he was gonna come back lmao
@@ruekruzmy older sis got an inkling of the P4 bad guy thanks to a guide and asked me point blank if they were the murder. I’m terrible with spoilers but I told her they weren’t the “final boss” and that seemed to dissuade her a bit. Despite playing more of the games than I have she seems to be unaware that most bad guys are the penultimate bosses as she’s yet to complete them (course neither have I😂)
Not only that, he was technically meant to carry the player should they end up underleveled or ignore Tartarus. If you think about it, there were a lot of potential to softlock should the player not go to Tartarus or refuse to do fusion, for example.
@@neo_child This shit actually happened to me during my very first playthrough of FES lol (my first Persona game) After playing Golden I went back to FES but it was easier to just start over again
This man can plow through an entire monad passage w no more than two actions but I'll still struggle to take him seriously when he says shit like "their ass is grass" and "get rekt"
@@RepressedJokerthat’s a smart move tho. If you see him having much less moves in his skill set you’d think something’s up. By giving him the skills most people would never see, Atlus makes them think he’s a permanent member like all the others.
I remember watching butter buns beginners guide to p3 and her saying not to rely on Shinji since he'd be leaving not too long after he joins. For some reason I assumed this meant he had to go to college soon despite that never being stated.
It's crazy that they even let you keep him for the whole game. They should've made him leave in October or something so that you have to grind another character up.
Yeah he is the MVP a little Spoiler he learn heat riser and debilitate in later levels so he is not only the best damage dealer also the best support he carry me so much in the final boss
For anyone who doesn’t know- Shinjiro is cracked in the final boss fight so make sure to spend all your money on him and grind him like crazy as early as possible (also use all of your incense cards on him)
He was always OP In the orignal he was in "Great" status almost everyday which made him a Critical hit machine, he's the reason i beat the Megidola Table in just 3 turns
Even though I knew what was coming, I still took him with me, hoping that maybe there was a chance something was changed in the remaster. When he said "Dont rely on me too much" That confirmed it for me. Still enjoyed my time with him though.
Remake, not a remaster. Something like persona 4 golden is a remaster of persona 4 since it's built on the same foundation, but persona 3 reload is remade from the ground up therefore remake
I actually finished P3 way back when, and I actually completely forgot about October 4th, and silly me going "hey, I never recalled Shinjiro being this good, I wonder why I never really remember using him in the game" Good ol' Oct rolled around and I then found out why I didn't use him a lot in the game.
In the Hermit full moon operation shinji will carry you. Bro will land a crit every hit. Both in combat and out he was truly an amazing man, one of the best written persona characters
@@notanerd6838 Heat riser is single target, and if memory serves MC and ken are the only ones who get it. You don't want the MC blowing turns heat rising, and ken wants to do damage or heal. By the time you've heat risen 3 people, the first heat rise is wearing off. Unless you blow rare items that simulate heat riser, but those are items, not skills. Feels subpar.
@@DamnDaimenBloody Charge is self targetting and only self targetting you can't use it on others. Also Ken is kind of mid at both of those things tbh, when I ran the game he did more damage than Yukari but other than that he was the second or lowest damage out of all potential party members, Junpei, Yukari and Koromaru ended up being my team because Koromaru using Revolution turned Junpei and the MC into crit machines, Yukari just ended up being a heal bot who used her theurgy to buff spells if something was immune to physical, or to cleanse statuses.
@@notanerd6838 Bloody charge is charge and revolution combination. So its charge, but better. Use it turn 1, with one person casting attack up, and another casting defense down debuff, and you are gonna have a good time turn 2.
@@DamnDaimen Rebellion, not revolution - huge difference because revolution is for the entire party and enemies. It's still a self cast that you have to waste a turn for. If you run koromaru (which you should since he's clearly top 3 best party members due to revolution), him using revolution just makes bloody charge a worse charge seeing as how it takes 40% of your hp, but even if you don't realistically Bloody Charge is still less powerful than victory cry which is honestly the true winner from how much value you get from it - but even after that if you pull the "victory cry doesn't help against the final boss, reaper or elizabeth" then debilitate would be the biggest winner by a mile. General use bloody charge is overkill, I pretty much one cycled all the enemies throughout the game, but I wasn't playing on merciless - if I was Bloody charge would have been suicide. Now this isn't to say it isn't a great move, it's just not the best, most fun buff move would be a completely different argument though since it clearly wins that department.
Friend started P3 when Reload came out. I told him not to bother using Shinji because he sucks late game and he just goes “Oh so he dies then”. When I asked him what he meant he told me there were so many death flags for him that me telling him not to bother using Shinji basically just confirmed he was going to die.
Saiten Taisei as MC's persona, Koromaru, Aigis, and Shinjiro was a VERY dangerous combination that often ended in most of the shadows being critical'd by the end of combat. I will always miss that.
Damn he looks good!!! I just got to him and now that he’s finally joined the party I can’t wait to use him on my main team for the rest of the game!!!!!!!
I never used him when I first played Persona 3 Portable, but I wanted to see how he was in Reload. Got pretty attached to him cause I loved his abilities so I ended up getting him to lvl 99 and had him almost one-shot the moon boss in Club Escapade. Bloody Charge god bless 🙏🏽
You don’t even know i pissed i was when i found out how good he was and had him in my party, until he fucking got rocked and now i had to use another member 😭
I've played P3 but I forgot he and ken straight up didn't participate in october full moon boss I almost softlocked myself if not for theurgy attacks being overpowered lol
If i remember correctly the only person that could match shinjis damage output in the original game was aigis in orgia mode. All that time i spent leveling him up wasted
