Having never been to Sweden before we really didn't know what to fully expect, however, Sweden really has something very special to offer to those wishing to travel here, not only the lovely Swedish people but the epic Swedish country itself is something else.
Make sure you Subscribe to get notifications and watch Part 2 of our Sweden
trip, you don't want to miss it!
Thanks to Swedrone for partial use of video content.
What are we doing and why have we called this trip an EXPEDITION? The word Expedition is used in all our video titles as this word means "promptness or speed in doing something, with a particular purpose, especially that of exploration" and this fits in perfectly with our plan to not only stay out of the UK for as long as possible, but to sample each country we visit to see if we want to come back for longer in our future travels.

10:22 Fun fact, the hooks, ladders and the white red ring can be used at all times. The hook/ladder is used so that the people in need can grab it and hang on to it instead of a person going to them so that the people rescuing don't fall in and get in danger as well, and usually the ring is thrown out to the water so that the victim can grab onto that as well, when you throw it you stand on the white little thing that's in the middle of the ring (you can take it out of the ring) and then there's a rope in it so you can pull the victim back to shore. This boat, ring, ladder and hook is something we see at every single beach/lake in sweden (pretty much). And of course it can be used during winter season as well if someone has fallen through the ice.

What's important to know when visiting Scandinavia is we all have "freedom to roam". I'm not 100% sure about the rules in Sweden, as I'm Norwegian. I know Denmark is a bit more restrictive when it comes to private land. In Norway; You are allowed to walk in any forest you want, you don't have to ask permission. You can even pick berries and mushroom without asking permission. You can camp almost anywhere (2 nights) as long as you're 150m from house/cabin if I remember correctly. In the high mountains or far from people you can stay more than 2 nights. You can also stay longer with the consent of the land owner. Park4Night is a really good app with many good places.

That snake is very common here in Finland, and is called a beach snake here (also called a grass snake in other places). We get them all the time at our lake cottage. Always give me the willies though, even though it's harmless, as the poisonous viper is not that dissimilar in size or colour, so when you spot one it always gives you an initial fright. I had one swimming towards me a couple of years ago, which was even worse, as I couldn't tell the species. My swimming sped up quick smart! I like the delight you have for the facilities in places. They are so nice in the Nordic countries. It always makes me ashamed of what public toilets and other public facilities can be like in NZ (where I'm from) and in the UK. Great to see you having a good time in shitty weather too. It's 100 times more amazing in Finland and Sweden when it's a good summer. Endless summer nights, swimming and bbqing.

@crabbypaddy5549
@crabbypaddy5549 2 года назад
Yep. that is a Snok and it s harmless., The other type (Huggorm) have a zigzag pattern and is a type of a viper that is somewhat poisonous to humans. Just take it easy if you get bit. Not really deadly but never the less a scary experience if they kiss you and you can feel a bit sick for a while but that is usually from the chock of the bite. :)
@RippanCSGO
@RippanCSGO 2 года назад
@@crabbypaddy5549 important to know that Huggorm can be pitch black as a Snok as well so don't go poking around if you not 100% sure. The easiest way is to check either the back of the head or belly of the snok, it should be white/yellow markings. A snok also have round big pupils while huggorm have the classic "snake eyes" Huggorm is also a spring/early summer snake, while snok can be found up to October/November before they go into brumation for the winter.

As far as the other wild life goes, the european brown bear is not just rare but quite shy, and usually stays away from roads. So you're extremely unlikely to see one. You do not want to have half a ton of moose entering through your front window at speed, though, so that's why you have those fences along the roads. To force them to only cross the roads where you can see them at a distance. There's a lot of them around, and roe deer too. The roe deer can often be seen on the fields, while the moose likes to hide at the edge of the forest so you may see them between trees.

The snake you found was a grass snake (Natrix natrix)and is one of two snake spicies that we have in Sweden, the other being common European adder/viper (Vipera berus).

John, you'll like our snakes in Australia :) I'd suggest a review of the bright colours theory though

I'm suprised you got into Sweden as they have had the borders closed to the UK until recently. Quite jealous as I need to visit there and have been waiting

Hello and welcome to Sweden! :) Just found your channel and absolutely love it, so wholesome and great work with the videos and editing. Traveling like that, discovering new places/nature/roads is luxury. I do that too but on a motorcycle and it's amazing. Looking forward to see more :D Btw, instant sub!

"Well, it's not horrible..." good to keep a straight face like that XD those cheese snacks are awful! Nice video you have and I cant help but think about all the things you go through to film your van driving! placing the camera, turn back,, drive past, stop, get the camera, hover with the drone over the car. Really nice shot video! Also, when south of dalarna, the only wildlive to worry about is boars and ticks. Farther north wolf and bear are a thing, but will run away long before you see or hear them. I will keep a lookout for more videos!

Yeah Sweden is an awesome country. Great social structure. Been up north a few times in winter. Great 4G almost everywhere. BTW just be aware you will need proper snow tires (by law) in December once you get to Norbotten. I thought there were restrictions on Brits entering at the moment. So well done! Changing on the 11th October for vaccinated.

Hello, nice video. We try to organize our Scandinavia trip for next year. So I will follow your journey to pick up information ... 😊. Short question, I believe I saw some pictures of flags. I did like those. Could you let me know from where you got them? We had different stickers on our T6 Ocean, which didn't look nice. Thank you.
