Well my mom was from Gateshead and she always said geordies are humble in defeat. Or victory, So she's right about that we lost 1-0 to Manchester, no slagging them off or making excuses no you just. Aknowlege that it wasn't you're day , Great team just like Gateshead FC 👍 Good video Eddie
No doubt. Solid working class folk. I was at the 1976 League Cup Final as a kid, stood on a beer crate with my dad. When Gowling equalised, the noise from the 50k Geordies was something I'll never forget. Neither will I forget that the entire 100k crowd stayed for the lap of honour, City being clapped by the Newcastle end. City fans actually chanted for Newcastle as the defeated players came to the tunnel end. I'll not forget it. Priceless memories.
Lovely video that shows that banter can be warm and welcoming. I've always liked Newcastle and their considerable following, proper passionate supporters and used to bring thousands to Maine Road. Good luck for the season, especially against Man Utd 💪🏻
Glad you were looked after in the Mary D's pub that's how it should be. Thought the game was comfortable for us I expected more from Newcastle but I know you'll be back again 👍💙
Always enjoy your content with opposition fans Ed mate. Younger fans maybe don't realise but City fans also put up with plenty of shit over the years and stayed loyal like us. My fisrt visit to Maine Rd was our old 2nd div promotion season 83/4 when we were allocated 7k and won 2-1 infront of a crowd of over 40k. Happy days.
That season we whacked them 5-0 at SJP - Beardsley hattrick - and Waddle and Keegan, if memory serves. Yet we only went up in 3rd behind Sheff Wed and Chelsea. Man City missed out.
@@christopherwright8811 First season I did every away game. Our away support was off the scale. Always be my favourite season. God bless persil. Saved us a fortune 😂👌
Hey Eddie. I like it mate. The roving reporter always selflessly in the danger zone to deliver the vids - not even in camouflage and a helmet I add 😅. Fans should get along - the banter is part of the game. We should all be decent to each other, all human beings. Thanks again Eddie.
Have to say Eddy, that i too was a bit nervous about last night's game .... not least because I watched your game last week and some of your football mate was absolutely breathtaking, and reminded me of the fluent way that we used to play when the likes of David Silva and Yaya Toure were here during their heyday .... i was expecting the worst last night, and was hopeful of a draw, so to actually win it made me a happy chappie! All the best to you and Newcastle mate, i always watch your videos ....
City had nothing to worry about as they looked like champions, but give us a couple more years and we might be on a more level playing field with City. Great video Eddy and Helen
It’s pep who nobody is on a level with mate, not City. Same can be said for united, they went into the shit soon as Fergie left. That won’t happen to city, but pep is the reason for this dominance.
I think our defense looked very good, our midfield was non existent and our forwards didn't offer enough pressure or product. It's good to see Helen more, she adds a little something more on top of your usual commentary and conversations. You always get the best fan interactions too. Top vid.
Man City deserved it. You’re the best team in the world. Thanks for appearing in the video Steve. If you’d like to appear on match day at St James’ Park drop me an email ☝️👊🏻
Good vlog mate, You seemed to enjoy your time around Manchester. Iv been to a few aways at yours and stayed overnight a few times,Love Newcastle the city and people. Been in the Strawberry with my young son and it was very friendly,so its only fair for you to go in Mary d's. Good luck for the rest of the season.
Delighted to watch this vid and see the banter and welcome you got in Manchester. I love going to Newcastle and always feel the banter is great and always good fun
Newcastle fans have always been loyal, and like xity fans have followed their club and team threw some very dark times and try to enjoy the better days, and we city fans respect proper loyal fans, qnd ecen tho city may be successful in this era we srill never forget our roots and those bad days, and no matter what other teams or fans say, city are one of the most well supported and loyal fan bases in th xountry!! And un like the traditional cartel of clubs liverpool united araenal chelsea and spurs we are not afraid of new teams trying to break into that top end, and if newcastle are thay club i say good luck to you, it will be difficult cos these mafia clubs stopped it by whinging n voting ffp so doesnt matter now how rich ur owners are u wont get the turnover city have to compete and in my opinion thats wrong, i take it as a challenge teams trying to get better and its city job to keep improving to stay at the top as lon as possible, and ill enjoy the ride!! But be careful newcastle fans, the shite city get will be coming your way some day soon, but my advice is ignore them, enjoy the ride, mremeber rhe bad days and enjoy the good ones , and keep up your loyal magnificent support of your local georgie team like we do our boys in blue 💙 🔵 good luck for the season except ehen you play us, big respect for your fans, team and manager peace from all blues 💙🔵💙
Hi Eddy, am a Wrexham fan whose 2nd team is Newcastle living in Stretford, Manchester so it was interesting seeing you on Oldham Street in the Northern quarter as a used to always walk this way to work at the main Royal Mail sorting office a little further on. Great video as always. Think overall city fans are far less arrogant than Man U fans having lived here all my 54 years. Police very hard on Newcastle fans. They do themselves no favors when they behave like that. Keep up the good work!
Can’t take anything away from city, they bossed the game. Foden was outstanding. We were poor passing, but good in defence. Considering Man City had 75% possession and only managed 1 goal has to count for something. On to the next game.
@@TynesideLife braver than me for going in a local fan bar. I looked it up on net and pyrotechnics are illegal at football grounds. 🤷♂️ No harmful intentions but they’d miss the match I bet.
Great vid, was at Newcastle few years ago towards the end of the season. Yaya toure master class 1-2 and we went on to win the league a few weeks later. Fell in love with toon fans that day. Proper decent lads
You'll be alright amongst City fans, great supporters, always welcoming, always game for a laugh ... it's that second rate crap from Old Trashford you need steer clear of ..... i live in that Northern Quarter by the way, cool place! You've got the scousers and rags to thank for the Etihad cops not liking flares by the way!
Flares are banned for good reasons: • Serious injuries, such as loss of limb or fingers • Severe burns, due to temperatures of up to 2,000°C • Breathing problems, due to smoke inhalation • Loss of hearing or sight, because of the explosive power
Great content again!!. It’s a mark of your personality that you were fine and accepted in that pub full of city fans, other you tubers wouldn’t have been as welcome I fear!. Keep up the great content and I look forward to my team getting a result on Sunday, sorry mate 😀
@@TynesideLife I’ll take a draw Eddy, especially as I’ll be in the lakes this week, 90% of the caravan owners on the park are from the north east, I’ll be out numbered!!😀
What a pleasure it is to to a football match in England these days. I remember the dark das of the 70s when the stadiums were slums and there was a constant threat of violence. Fans mix freely these days and enjoy meeting each other.
Eddie and Helen our own deadly duo, they go places others fear to go. Pity about the result, thought we would get a result but on to next week and revenge on Liverpool. One game does not make a season and we will probably be one of the few teams who hold city that close. We'll get our own back at home. Once the first 4 games are out the way we should cruise.
I think it was to our disadvantage that we beat AV that much. City were on their toes. They are fast, strong and have very good stamina. Also very fast feet and mind.
It's the only pub where they don't let away fans in but it's mostly the police who stop it. Shame because clearly, away fans are embraced by City fans apart from a couple of clubs (I'll leave you to guess who). Good vid, as usual
Cheers John. It’s not the police who stop it. They don’t have that power. There may be licensing laws requiring the owners to prevent away fans in 🤷🏻♂️ but that’s the local council, on advice from the police. There are door staff on who screen customers in the Que. I spoke to them and asked if Helen and I could go in.
Oh, by the way, you aren't the first to go in Mary D's as an away fan. In 2009 when the Toon played at the Etihad, I took my Geordie mate in before the game although admittedly, he didn't have his colours on
@@johnnisbet9129 then that didn’t count John 😃 Helen and I are the first in our colours to do that. You should have seen the looks 😂 they were bewildered snd of course I had the whole pub chanting at me
@@TynesideLife Well I hope you felt safe. Apart from a few noisy rowdies, looks like you were well received and quite right too. Geordies always welcome at City
@@TynesideLife fair play friend. I was at uni in Newcastle in the mid nineties. Great time to be around the toon as a football fan with the team you guys had.
I know they’re banned in the ground but not sure about outside. Nevertheless, an arrest was disproportionate and unnecessary to what was actually happening
@@TynesideLife Yes, mate. Tribalism amongst us proper fans has to go. It's a game. We have huge problems as a society, football is a release, an escape, even. Fans talking to each other is so uplifting. Anyway, Dennis Tueart, King of all Geordies, as our song goes. Lol.
@@superbia75es I completely agree mate. 1976 and that Dennis Tuart overhead kick is a defining year for me and a vivid memory. I was 10 and went to my first Newcastle game
@@TynesideLife I did it in the bad old days in the 80s and 90s from division 4 to the first division by train,as I said I/ we were never a threat, but no doubt If we were looking for it,we would of had trouble.
@@richardhenshaw5660 I’m finding that in general, the ‘home’ pubs have a general policy of no away fans so I have to blag my way on. Newcastle is different and all away fans are made to feel welcome 👊🏻
Love this! As a City fan I sometimes watch away day vlogs from fans coming to the Etihad. Well done for surviving Mary Ds - it's bonkers in there. Good luck for the rest of the season.
