Hey guys! We are still workin on those left over calendars! Today we have two calendars that are actually pretty good??? Let me know what you guys think! Love ya💖
I have a question, 🙋 first let me just say I'm enjoying the series immensely. Love your channel! ❤️ So I have a very tiny Channel and I was wondering if you were open to talking more about how a channel can grow a little bit when first starting out? Not mentoring because I know you're super busy. But are you open to helping or maybe doing a video for smaller creators with suggestions on what we could do to try grow our community? Also with the Advent calendars? Could you possibly let us know if they're still available at the time of filming? (Oh I guess that's 2 questions I'm sorry🙏🥺) Cuz there's so many in the UK that we can't get in the states... at least I couldn't & I tried. I'm still unboxing my calendars because of the 12 Days of Christmas starting the 25th to the 6th of january. Yeah it's a whole cultural thing it's called The Three Kings or the epiphany. Anyway I'm a couple calendars short 😱 thought it wouldn't hurt to ask 🙏❤️ thanks so much always putting a smile on my face!
My ASOS calendar got lost in the post so they refunded me, it just showed up today haha, so perfect timing for this video, and at a whopping $0 very, very good value.
Both advent calendar boxes were really nice!! Oh and btw, every time I'm shopping online for makeup & see a Charlotte Tillsbury ( spelling?) product , I hear you !! Lol !!😜 saying it with your funny little British accent !!! Hahaha!! And NO!! I'm not actually hearing voices !!! Don't call the people from the "funny farm" just yet!!!😛 ( but I do think of you saying that!! Kinda funny 😁) oh and besides the fact that both boxes were actually good ... I was pretty surprised to see FULL SIZED tubes of product !! So all in all...a good way to start the day ...👍💕🙋 Thanks !!
Is it bad I’m honestly excited that this is still going??? I’m super curious to see how far we go into 2022 with advent calendars and I’m living for it!
I’ve always thought the perfect advent calendar would start with day 1 being cleanser, then working through a full skincare regiment, then move onto makeup. Starting at primer, and the last day be a eyeshadow palette. For the foundation they could use the Becca Zero which has no pigment, and would work for everyone. It may be closer to a 30 day advent calendar, but that would be awesome Edit- the perfect calendar would be “Cleanser, face scrub, mask, toner, serum, moisturizer, eye cream, lip oil, primer, brush set and sponge in one door, a scrunchy and a set of two hair clips in the same door, foundation (either no pigment foundation, or coupon to get the foundation in store or online in your shade), concealer (either one of those quads where you can mix and match shades to create your own, or a coupon to get one in your shade), translucent setting powder, blush, contour palette, highlighter/blush topper, lip liner, lip stick, lip gloss, mascara, eyeliner, setting spray, eyeshadow palette”
“Conker” (from the eyeshadow palette) is a game that kids play in England. It’s probably played everywhere but we call it conkers. When you put horse chestnuts on a string and hit them against someone else’s to try and break theirs 😊
“You know, the scent that every middle school girl had in their Dooney and Bourke purse.” I feel attacked. 😂😂 Alexandria you are one of my absolute favorite people to watch on RU-vid because you are unapologetically yourself. Thanks for keeping me laughing.
What middle school girl own's a dooney and bourke🕵🤔 I am 32 and didn't own my first dooney til I was 24 and even then it was pre loved yup my older sister gifted me me with her dooney because she thinks every female needs to own a lady like grown up purse. Before then I would just own random cheap purses excluding my baby phat purse I bought with my own money back when I was 20 and that purse cost me $100 total with taxes & all but I loved it til I damaged it with make up because I didn't take my mom's advice of putting lipsticks/lip glosses inside a zip lock bag😆 Otherwise I would've kept that purse til this day hands down. Hell I might look for another online to buy just for the hell of it because it was a gorgeous black "leather" purse with a beautiful shade of turquoise tealish type of color lining and the hardware was gold and it was shockingly a amazing work horse of a purse and perfect size as well... -Mercy(sorry for the name confusion I am on my dad's phone at the moment)
The Body Shop was surprisingly good. The product sizes were decent and the price wasn't insane. If you don't like any of the scents you can donate them or pass them out to homeless people in your area, save them for traveling, stocking stuffers, etc.
Yeah the larger one is better value for money . But for the price here and scents I’d get I’d prefer to just buy the ones I like as some things I’d not use.. but I do love there stuff and have way to much stuff
@@DamonsMistrisVampire I'm a sucker for advent calendars and getting a surprise every day. Having a teen daughter helps ensure that everything gets used. :)
@@wombatnumbat989 there were 3 available for general sale, but there was also a 4th mega one (like the 3rd box but on steroids: £320 worth £495, 44 items, so many days had more than 1 item, though honestly looking at the list of items it seems heavily leaning towards their "drops of youth" range), it was limited to certain stores like big ones in London, although it now shows on their website but as out of stock; so idk if closer to Xmas they sold left over stock online or not. Having the different levels is awesome because you can choose your price point, but also what kind of products you like eg the cheapest one had all those small shower gels in and it seemed to me to have a better variety of scents, but the 3rd one had all big size items (except I recall one small shower gel, but I think that was balanced by some days having more than one item?), but while it also included their "drops of youth" serum the scents of other items seemed more limited/repetitive from what I saw (too much rose for sure and also i remember the avocado body butter, but none of my fave strawberry) and less shower gels. Sadly their website no longer shows the cheaper 3 so I couldn't do a full comparison, but I think the 2nd one was a kind of blend of 1 & 3. I think what I loved about the Body Shop one was that they are all items you can buy in store, no sample sizes that are given away for free or "we made this sample especially for the calendar and assigned a random price for it based on how much the full size one costs bs; which means the value they state you're getting is what it actually is - I saw someone unbox the 3rd box and did the calculations from the website & it was spot on.
I’m loving that there isn’t a single sample in the Body Shop Calendar these items are all available in the store for purchase, the bottles are the smallest size available - Chanel need to take notes!
I am not sick of Advent calendar!!! Bring them on! I have watched every single one of your unboxings of advent calendars and enjoyed every minute of it!!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
@@cobaltclam that’s awesome. I, too, love words, enjoy expanding my vocabulary and appreciate plays on words and when I can’t find a word, I create one. ☺️ Stay well, fellow word nerd ❤️
I used to use the banana shampoo and conditioner years ago. It made my (pool) chlorine and highlight damaged hair SUPER soft. It’s wonderful for damaged/dry hair.
I grow roses, and when you smell them, it's NOTHING like that, they're absolutely beautiful. I'm obsessed with roses. If I could have gotten the body shop calendar I totally would have!! I've now decided that's two calendars I'm going to buy at the end of this year!
So something that helps me with Olaplex is that the numbers are supposed to help you use them in order. Every number before 4 I believe gets used before you shower to prep for the shower. Then you use 4 and 5 in the shower for shampoo and conditioner. Then the numbers after 5 get used after your shower. Hope that is helpful :)
Yes, The Body Shop did run two business models. They ran a regular business model and an MLM. I know because I was a consultant. I don't know if they still do. I should look into it. I still have the wash cloths and bath mat towels with The Body Shop logo embroidered on them. We used to do GNOs (Girl's Night Out) as "parties" to try to get ladies to buy product. Like all MLMs, it was all about timing and building a team and the consultants were the customers.
thanks for the clarification! I was confused because I swear I remeber the body shop being a legit business and nothing more. But then there was an "at home" thing I was confused about and never looked into.
About 2 years ago I entered a raffle that the body shop were doing for charity and I won one of their big advent calendars. It was amazing, there were so many full sized items! I wouldn't have been mad if I had paid full price for it, but it was even better because it was free! We still use the box as Christmas decor as it's so sturdy and in the shape of a house. It's so festive!
I'm surprised you didn't get Satsuma in the Body Shop calendar. That's one of like, their 'signature' scents. I'm glad it wasn't all British Rose though!
These were really good calendars. The not red lipstick was a great surprise and even better, it will go nicely with the eye shadow palette. Somebody actually put some thought into this. I would love to see the rest of the calendars. I enjoy them.
The Body Shop takes me way back to my Mall Days. 3 decades ago you could bring in your empty containers to refill. Or combine fragrances to make your own. It did progress. I now avoid the Mall causes it's so spread out. Our Mall burned down several years back & it has a creepy vibe. Thanks for all your videos. Happy New Years stay safe.
I remember being able to create your own fragrances! It was also nice being able to buy the unscented products. I was said when they got rid of Oceanus, that was a favorite.
I love the smell of tea tree oil, as a old person it smells like walking into the body shop. they had a big bar of oils you could buy and mix and stuff. I use tea tree oil on my hair because its dry and also because it smells good.
I really like the variety of scents in the Body Shop box. Have to admit I'm missing the Cucumber Melon of the 90s. And yes, I will watch each and every advent calendar you show. Might as well get the write off, right? (giggle)
I was so close to getting the asos calendar and I now have regrets! I didn't buy any beauty calendars, I did however treat myself to a bookish one which I adored. I don't think I'm alone in being completely willing to watch your advent unboxings for the rest of eternity 🖤
Those were really good calendars! And I vote for seeing more if you've still got 'em. I'm always curious to see if they, a) created a calendar that is unique for their customers, or b) used the calendar as a way to get rid of some old products and make some dough at the end of the year. It's very telling.
Love the body shop!! Those little tubes of handcreams I believe are actually their full sized version you get in the stores! The lip balm looks like it was a full size as well! Happy New Years!
Now I know what brand I am looking into for a calendar next year..those were probably the best I have seen for this year. It was nice they didn't separate the file from the nail product or the comb from the hair oil. Other brands should be taking notes.
“Ya know, the scent every middle school girl had in their dooney and Burke purse.” Giirrrll you called me ouuuttt! 🤣 that was my personality in 8th grade for a hot minute
That origins mask is my holy grail. I’ve bought it year after year for the last 5 years. I use it as a normal heavy moisturizer. It doesn’t break me out and it leaves my skin so nice/soft/hydrated
my mom surprised me this past christmas with the body shop advent calendar and i loved it!!!! everyday there was something that id actually use and have been enjoying!!!
I really think that these two belong at the top near Harrods. They both had almost all full sized items, and when you consider that the ASOS one cost around $100, it really blows a lot of them out of the water. Also that lipstick looks great on you. HEY! What serum are you using side your lashes look great, and also hate false ones⁉️
Honestly dont waste money on expensive lash serums...they are bogus...they no longer contain the ingredient that actually makes them longer (it's only available by prescription). That being said, all the serums are basically just a combo of nourishing oil and you definitely dont need to spend that much. I've been using black jamaican castor oil and it has made my lashes healthier (in turn, making them longer and fuller), it seems to also keep me from shedding lashes ..I rub my eyes a lot and would always loose a few when I did but the oil really has helped keep them strong. I got a bottle for $5. Seriously dont waste your money on stupid expensive products. If you want to get an expensive product, get a prescription for latisse (it contains prostaglandins which is what really does make your lashes grow).
Girl you made me laugh when you said you don't care to get sheet mask because they are a one time use product but so are the bath bubbles! LOL! Please open all of your advent calendars! I love your reactions to them!
I just bought myself a strawberry body butter from the body shop and let me tell you... IT'S AMAZING!!! TMI but I'm diabetic, so my feet are very, very dry and the skin cracks a lot... But this body butter is working miracles on my feet. They're soft and almost smooth. I'm absolutely in love with the body butter. I SUPER recommend them.
They have a really good cream I used to use for my eczema I can’t remember what it’s called but it’s specifically for that so they would probably know in stores, but nothing has helped me more for dryness cause where I live is also super dry
In the UK the Conker is the seed of the horse chestnut tree. There is a children's games also called conkers where each player have one of these conkers on a string and you have to hit the opponents conker to try and break it.
I had read somewhere that the most common banana flavors and scents they use actually came from an extinct banana variety, and that's why most smell off to us. 🤷♀️
I might ask for the body shop one for Christmas next year if they do one honestly. That one seemed like a lot of fun and I love shower products. The asos one was really nice too, definitely seemed like it had good value
Started watching your videos a few days ago while I’m at home sick and I have made my way through the 25+ advent calendar videos and now I’m branching out to more videos😅. Love your content!!
I would just love to say that I’m so glad that everything that came in the box was in different scents! You just didn’t get the same scent in different products thank you for that. I would actually buy this
The body shop is the only place I have found where you can actually identify what the scent is of the product. The milk and honey scent is made for those of us that don't like a strong fragrance but also don't like non-scented products. The body shop is one of my favorite places to go to buy anything that is scented. The way that they do their sense there isn't chemical in it it is all arrived from plants and fruits and stuff. That's why you don't get that weird doctor sent like with other products that may say it's strawberry but when you put it on and it finally finished drying onto your hands it smells like rose.
Of all the times you exercised restraint on not buying the additional calenders, it was a good calendar. I'd purchase either of these two myself. Love your videos!
Wow, those were actually great calendars. I would be so happy to get these, and I'm making a note to look them up next yr lol. Please do as many of these as you will, Alexandria! It seems like the consensus is that we all love them :-D xx
WOW!!!! You're hair looks amazing so much less frizzy and dry it looks healthy! I too have very dry brittle thin hair and would love to know what you're using, I remember you said you had a new hair regimen going on so I'm very curious. Also you're lashes look amazing and thick what serum are you using! Please keep the advent calendars coming even if it's all next month I love it!!!!💕💕💕
I would actually love an advent calender a week/month in 2022 until they're gone. I don't watch for the products or brands. I solely watch for Alexandria's personality and reactions
Im from the uk 🇬🇧 and body shop and one other brand is all i use in my home for me and my daughter we love them we didnt manage to get the calendars this year as its very popular here and we have reps to that sell them online were you can win them i would allways recommend getting body shop my favourite is coconut scent stuff xx
It was pretty good, it's a tie with the Harrods one for me because the value in that was so good. However, for the $100, price point it's definitely up there as one of the best. It seemed like a little more thought went into it, especially the make up products veering away from bright red.
The bodyshop has an mlm component, but it's mainly an actual brand, the headquarters/main warehouse is in my home town, both my parents worked there, one still does, as a kid I went there several times,
I LOVE the ordinary’s squalane! I have super sensitive, super acne prone skin and this product doesn’t exacerbate either of those issues! I use it right out of the shower/after washing my face. Don’t dry your skin all the way (leave it a little damp) and then apply the squalane right on it. Then top it with your moisturizer. Sometimes I mix it into my moisturizer if I don’t have the energy to rub two products into my skin. It works both ways for me. I don’t remember exactly what it’s supposed to do, but it feels like it really locks in the moisture from the water on my skin and the moisturizer. My skin stays feeling freshly moisturizer the whole time I have it on
Adorable calendar, and nice stuff I would use, but the value isn't there. I've bought a lot of this stuff as gifts through Ulta, and they often sell for almost 50% off during the holidays in mini gift sets. BUT as a gift to someone, I think this is perfectly acceptable and fun.
The Body Shop has a "mlm" like system in the UK and I think its coming to the US or is already here... But it existed without the mlm structure for a really really long time I think. Anyway, I hate rose scented things but for some reason I love the British Rose from the Body Shop
Oh my gosh I hate the strawberry scent but love the Rose scent lol- I have a Paris guest bathroom and it’s all roses and it smells delicious when you walk in there and everyone always tells me how much it smells like heaven
I find labelling products 'rose scented' a bit confusing. Roses have such a wide range of natural scents that it's a like calling something 'fruit scented' - is it going to be tomato or orange? Even more unusual is that the same rose can smell very different to two people. When I was selecting roses for my garden (I was going for scent over colour) the ones I liked my mother would turn her nose up at and the ones she found delightful smelled like cat pee to me. Apparently there's a genetic component to how you perceive roses, a bit like how cilantro/coriander tastes citrus-y to some but like soap to others (me included)! That's today's TED Talk over. 😂🖤
@@recoveringsoul755 It sure does. That's why I never buy a perfume for someone unless I know they already use it. What smells great on one person can smell foul on another. ☺
Love watching you. I laugh and enjoy these videos and your personality so much. I get it. Congrats on your engagement. Thanks for doing these for your fans, and sacrificing yourself to those bad past boxes.
I'm the other way round, my fave is the strawberry and 2nd the satsuma. But they both smell so good. They had 4 tiers of boxes, i don't remember the 3rd having any strawberry in because I'm fairly sure if it had (either that or satsuma) then I'd have probably bought it, instead they had far too much rose items. The biggest box had strawberry body butter (which I always think smells too delish to put on my skin) and lip butter, which I've never tried (idk if it tastes as good as it smells, because if it does I'd be afraid to use it lol). I didn't know they did a hand cream in it till this unboxing though, I might have to get some to try.
@@hawkeyescoffee6399 I love strawberry scented anything. Flavored, too. I'm awaiting an order from Delight Naturals...lip balms, I am just a (n obsessed) fan...pb&j with strawberry jam. My go to food. I am seriously obsessed with the lippie. I haven't used Body Shop's body butter. I'm like you, everything is too delicious smelling, I might forget and lick my arm or something. LOL
"Another GIFT for my aunt" like you just can't wait to get rid of it. I hate rose scent as well. But loveee watermelon, strawberry, coconut and tea tree. Mommy. My body wash has tea tree oil in it.🥰🥰
I almost exclusively use The Body Shop. And all of those hand lotions and body butters and shower gels go for $6 a pop in store in Canada, so considering How many of them you got, and how much you paid, you definitely got good bang for your buck. Personally my favourite lines are their tea tree line, and their hemp line. A full sized Hemp body butter is almost 30 dollars on its own. Definitely a good box!
Lavender is for me what Rose is for Alexandria - almost all of the products from This Works are not useable for me because they just smell horrible to me. Luckily I have family that loves it.
Me too! I adore rose as long as it's not cloying but just seeing the word lavender makes me shudder. It's funny because I love real, fresh lavender. Something about turning that into an artificial smell makes my head ache. It's repulsive. We must be in the minority because they put lavender in EVERYTHING.
@@amandabeachum188 I'm actually allergic to lavender, so I definitely shudder and run away when I smell it, but also, ignoring the instant sneezing and runny nose it gives me, I also hate its smell 😂 so I agree
@@hailyjohnson407 I’m allergic also! I have such a hard time finding products I love lately because of the “everything has to have lavender in it” trend. I can’t do heavy or over saturated scents at all though so rose and most floral is really bad as well as fake pine/cinnamon for fall:Christmas. But I’ve never met anyone who understands my lavender aversion.
Lavendar is my kryptonite too, I'm so allergic to the scent that I can't even be in a smaller shop that has something with it out on display; I've never got as far as getting it in contact with my skin, I dread to think what it would do to me. My mum is the same. Rose on the other hand, I just don't really care for it...I think that goes back to being a kid trying to make homemade perfume from rose petals lol. ETA what is it with them putting lavender in _everything_ these days, anyway? Especially things that are meant to be "relaxing". I just don't get it.
@@hawkeyescoffee6399 I think I tried to make some of my own homemade beauty concoctions with flowers when I was young. Never could figure out why they were so horrid. 😆
