If you've been disappointed by keratosis pilaris treatment options + natural remedies -- you're not alone!
Keratosis Pilaris (AKA Chicken skin) is a complex, poorly understood skin problem that can make you feel insecure (because of how it looks). It can also make your skin texture feel unpleasant + rough (potentially triggering skin picking).
I previously discussed keratosis pilaris diet concerns, and wanted to share more up-to-date info + treatment options that will hopefully help you on your journey to ditching chicken skin!
My guest today is Dr. Julie Greenberg, a licensed Naturopathic Doctor (ND) and Registered Herbalist RH(AHG) who specializes in integrative dermatology, holding degrees from Northwestern University (BA), Stanford University (MBA) and Bastyr University (ND). She is the founder of The Center for Integrative & Naturopathic Dermatology Inc, a holistic clinic that approaches skin and hair problems by finding and treating the root cause. She has presented at multiple conferences, teaches dermatology classes at naturopathic medical schools, and is a highly sought-after speaker at conferences across the U.S.

I've had KP on the side of both my calves, basically for 30 years. Carnivore for 2.5 months helped me with various small inflammations, and then added a lot more fat for overall health. This is when I was surprised to notice my KP has greatly diminished (maybe only 30% left) without me even exfoliating at all in the last few months. I began lowering my fat intake to add some select carbs for gut health and my KP clearing to asymptote. This was a great and super informative conversation!

Love Julie Greenberg, always so informative, such an amazing specialist!! I would also love to know about seborrheic keratosis that nobody knows anything about. I have tiny keratosis all over my belly (slightly darker than my skin) and back which started quite early in my 20s. I wonder if functional medicine/naturopathy has any theories/connections and if any solutions are available. Traditionally doctors claim it’s from the sun which is most definitely not the case with me. I hardly ever see any sun and if anything in my case it could be the lack of sun rather than the opposite. It’s also not genetic, nobody else has it in my family. I believe I “caught” it somewhere in a spa/massage place. It was very itchy when it initially started.
