In my opinion, I agree with that it is too early to call anything at this point. If by the time we get to the all star break that we dont see improvements then we can start making playoff predictions. But until then ,not data to make any hard predictions despite the abysmal start they've had so far.

I get that the Boston Braves 1914 team were the last team to make the playoffs with the starting record that the Astros currently have. However, one glaring omission that wasn't brought up, was that back in 1914, only the top team went on to play in the World Series. There wasn't 6 teams in each league potentially making the playoffs. There's plenty of time for the Astros to have a record good enough to make a wild card, or even win their division. They are only 6.5 games behind the Mariners. Compared to the 1914 Braves, the Astros will be perfectly fine, and will definitely make the playoffs somehow.

They will probably make the playoffs, but every run has an ending. Invoking the last eight years doesn’t make them inevitable; one could argue that the last eight years the brings the end of the run closer and closer. They were good not great last year; perhaps this year marks the move from good to pretty good. If they aren’t careful they will dig themselves such a hole that they’ll have to play Uber-great for months just to reach the playoffs. Inevitable? I don’t see it.

if their starting pitching doesn’t find form, then no. at this point they need to play at a 100-win rate (61% win percentage or so) to make the playoffs in the AL.

Ben, as an Astros fan you are right the pitching is a mess. However you are wrong when you say the offense has been good. Offense has been a disaster. Sure the batting average as a whole is ok but put men on base or in scoring position then all of a sudden they are allergic to hitting. It’s not called runners in scoring position anymore. It’s called runners in stranded position

The Astros should be burried, but the Rangers and Mariners have not taken advantage, so as bad as the Astros have been, thry are only 6.5 games back which is absolutely a deficit they can overcome, but they need to get things going in the next couple of weeks

I believe the Astros are done for the foreseeable future. I don't think the officially out of it just yet since there is no standout team. For example, if the Rangers were playing the way they did at this point last year id be like there no way. time will tell. Go Rangers!!!

Mookie's combined total WAR from 2021-2023: 19.0 Shohei's combined total WAR from 2021-2023: 28.7 (no one else comes close) But this isn't a Mookie vs Shohei debate. Ben & Alex have praised Mookie plenty in previous episodes... and Mookie may even ultimately win the NL MVP this season while Shohei is on the mend. The main crux of the matter is that you 'don't understand why', simply cuz you choose to be blind to that which is in plain sight.🙈

The Astro’s are not as young as they used to be. They’re beat up and they just got swept by a beat up Cubs team. World Series contending team don’t get swept by teams like that. They don’t look enthusiastic and they sure as heck don’t look like a playoff team. I think their 7 playoffs were their time and that has passed.

The Umpires in the MLB and their egos have gone ridiculously out of control like the tipping culture! Union or no union, Manfred and MLB should act!
