OB Daz and Aidan reacts to Shohei Ohtani's brilliant doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers. Link to original video: • Have a day, Shohei!! O... Instagram: officeblokedaz
I never thought I would see such a player in my lifetime. I have to be thankful to see Ohtani. And what is surprising is that his personality is also perfect. He was not interested in money at all and gave all the money he earned from the Home Run Derby to his staff.
Ohtani is changing baseball, He is loved not only for his talent but also for his personality. Usually,an entertaining person and cute, humble and good-looking guy. His popularity is like a rock star or pop idol🥰 So we can enjoy watching youtube and TikTok other than games👍
In my opinion, Shohei Ohtani has only been in the major leagues for a few years but he is the best player in the history of baseball. Of course, they are players that are more accomplished than him, but just pure baseball talent, he is the best ever. The game has never seen someone that is both an all star worthy pitcher AND an all star worthy batter. There is simply no one like him in any sport right now.
This was a double header, which means its actually two games back to back. He threw the shutout in the 1st game, and hit the 2 home runs in the 2nd. That’s another reason why his performance is especially impressive. Daz, you can call them the Angels or the Halos, but never the A’s. 😂 No one is bigger that Ohtani, because no one can do what he’s doing as a two way player. He’s a unicorn. And he is very kind and humble. He sometimes apologizes for getting people out. He’s just sweet. 😊
He had 3 walks that game so he would have had a no hitter if he didn't give up that hit not a perfect game. Also he was removed from the second game after his second homer because he was cramping up. It was only the 4th inning so he could have definitely done a lot more damage if he stayed in. Hes easily the best baseball player of all time and arguably the best athlete of all time
His total WAR is 7.1. Second place is 5. He's 80 points ahead of second in OPS. He lost out on MVP last year when Judge hit 62 homers. Shohei is on pace for 60 - be crazy if he hit 63, was 16-8 with an era of about 3.25 and won MVP. He's the clear best hittier in baseball (excluding injured players from the argument), and is a top 15 pitcher. Top 15 is being conservative, and there's 32? teams, so that makes him an ace, the best pitcher on more than half the teams (oversimplified), and since he's also the best hitter on EVERY team, he's the best pitcher AND hitter on more than half the teams. Phew!.
If you take away his record against the Astros, his pitching numbers look a lot better. Oh, and the next day dude hits another homerun in his next at bat. If I'm the opposing manager I'm walking him every time unless it walks in the game winning run. At least for a week or two to cool him off. Bases loaded, we're up one run in the bottom of the 9th.... I walk him to tie the game. Better to face Ward in a tie game than give up a grand slam. I don't know if I do that when Mike Trout comes back.... but that's what I'd do today.
Complete game shutouts where a pitcher stays in the game whole time are fairly uncommon. Usually you'd want to bring in relief pitchers so your starting pitcher can rest his arm. They probably kept him in the game just so that he could have the distinction of pitching his first complete shutout game. Shoehei has to be in the discussion as the best baseball player ever, and probably best athlete in the world. Only others in contention would be Mbappe, Jokic, Jon Rahm, Alcaraz and maybe McDavid. Being a pitcher and a hitter is like playing 2 completely different sports, and he's dominant at both. The only two way player (A player that is a pitcher and a great hitter) in that realm is the legendary Babe Ruth way back in the early 1900s just to give you an idea of how rare it is to see this.
To put in context, the night before the Angels said they will not be trading Ohtani, a few hours later they said he'd pitch game 1 of the doubleheader... I think he decided to put the team on his back with Trout out and is gonna push for the playoffs...Trout will be back in about a month or so
4:06 You can see the pitch count right above the Angels score on the screen graphic 🙂 He threw 111 pitches Also this was a “doubleheader” meaning 2 games played back to back on the same day, with one in the afternoon and one in the evening
0.7% of games are complete games by pitcher. A one hitter, less, and a no hitter, rare, but while also hitting a home run, let alone 2, almost never. Last time was in 1971. Blessed to be able to witness greatness...
Shohei hit a home run in Detroit one night and the next day in his very next at-bat, he hit another home run in Toronto. I don't think any other MLB player has hit home runs in 2 different countries just hours apart.
Oi !!! NY GIANTS gear !! I subscribed. Current holder of NYG season tickets and these tix have been in our family for 50 years. Oh, and Ohtani is the greatest thing to happen to all sports in my lifetime.
there are games during the day during the week. sometimes its kinda random but usually if a game gets postponed they play a double header the next day, with the game that was postponed as a game that starts around noon in the US
It USED to be common for pitchers to pitch a complete nine innings. There was even a pitcher who was STRUCK BY LIGHTNING and still finished the game. Now, however, teams treat their pitchers with kid gloves. They're terrified that one of them will get hurt. Studies have shown, however, that this actually makes them MORE injury prone.
Been watching you Daz for years. Not many angels fans in the world, I’m one of them that watches your content. Been a while though, been busy, started a channel of my own (different account btw). Love the video!
Ohtani is definitely bigger than McDavid since the NHL prioritized profits over exposure. Which is a shame because hockey has some real exciting talent coming up too, like Connor Bedard, Adam Fantilli, and Leo Carlsson just to name a few.
There's a really good video about a guy named Doc Ellis throwing a no hitter while on LSD you guys might like called "No Mas Presents: Dock Ellis & The LSD No-No by James Blagden" It's short, but it's pretty good.
Pitching a complete game is exhausting. Pitchers normally would start their recovery after the game. Shohei started getting ready to play the next game. He cramped up from over exertion. So he is human. He hit a home run in the next game.
MLB teams often play a day game on "get away day" or "travel day" which is the last game of a 2-3-4 game series between two teams, where one or both travel directly after the game to a new city to start a new series. For example, if my team, the New York Mets were playing the St. Louis Cardinals at home on a Wednesday and they were flying out to Los Angeles to start another series, the game would be in the afternoon so they could board a plane in the evening and head 3000 miles west. Usually, but not always, they would have the next day, Thursday, off and open a series with the Dodgers on Friday
It’s very unfortunate Ohtani plays for a team like the Angels who get zero national tv time. The MLB are massively missing out on marketing the best player to ever play the game
This is obviously not true anymore. Every baseball fan knows where he plays. Sports fans in general knows who he is. More and more non-sports fans are hearing about him. The Yankees haven't won sh*t in two decades and most can't even name more than two players in their line-up.
It’s a shame that the Angels are subpar & because of that have smaller crowds. Ohtani & Trout still attract fans & I think that why the Angels aren’t trading Ohtani this season. Tigers are in a rebuilding stage & that’s why it was empty. Right now is probably the best time to start watching MLB because numerous teams are fighting for a playoff spot! Large crowds (mainly for teams in contention) & every game literally counts!! Love the reappearance of the Eagles 🦅 jersey! (New Kelly green uniforms this season!!) Go Phillies!! ❤️⚾️
It blows my mind that the angels have arguably the 2 best players in baseball and they are as bad as they are it goes to show how much you have to have a complete team in baseball
A perfect game is a complete game pitched without a runner reaching base either by hit, base-on-balls, or error. It is one of the rarest feats in baseball and a subset of no-hitters. So not shown - he waled a batter or two - disqualifying a perfect game.
6:58 Well I know most people aren't AMA Motocross fans, but there's a Australian rookie rider by the name of Jett Lawrence who is about to have a perfect season and win every moto, and should be the best ever indoor and outdoor motocrosser.
Shohei Ohtani has never made the playoffs. The Angels have consistently had the best player in the world for the last 11 years between Trout and Ohtani and they haven’t made the playoffs since 2014. Ohtani signed in the off-season going into 2017. He will be a Free Agent for the first time this off season
You guys need to check out some of the Little League Championships for baseball and girls Softball going on right now and the Little League World Series that will immediately follow it. There should be lots of videos to react to now
As great a hitting/pitching performance Shohei had in the DH, there was one that was even better. On June 23, 1971, Rick Wise , a pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, pitched a no-hitter and hit 2 homeruns in the same game against the Cincinnati Reds.
The difference is, Rick Wise was not seen as a slugger. No one pitched around, or intentionally walked him like pitchers do to Ohtani. Granted, Rick Wise definitely had the better game, than Ohtani. However, people expect Ohtani to do this, whereas someone like Wise, there was no expectation. Ohtani is a special breed.
You're talking about exciting athletes in sport, I don't think Shohei is the most exciting athlete in Japan right now. I'd even say Naoya Inoue might be Japan's top athlete.
I think Ohtani is great for MLB & he will get like $500-$600 million this off season!! I don’t think of him as the best athlete but definitely the best (in versatility - hitting/pitching) in baseball right now. Best athlete, in my opinion, is usually shortstop or centerfielder (running, diving for balls..) You guys should react to Bryce Harper! That guy isn’t human!
Major League Baseball is run by a bunch of morons who for years have failed to reach the younger generation but this year's exciting games during the World Baseball Classic's exciting games and Ohtani have done the job. Since the WBC is only a short pre-season tournament, it's been all Ohtani throughtout the season arousing the interest of all-ages. Many who stopped watching the game have come back to watch him play or at least check on his stats. It's sad that it has taken the super-human effort of one playe to do so.
If football and/or basketball were in season right now there would be more hype around some other stars, but they aren't, so baseball is the big thing currently.
Patrick Mahomes Kansas Cty Chiefs QB . His unorthodox off platform throws are sick . He does what NFL QBs are taught NOT to do . And I am NOT a Chiefs fan but that dude ...
