In this video, I head to the fishing village of Staithes in North Yorkshire to discuss shooting the iconic locations #landscapephotography #photographyforbeginners
Excellent vlog, John. Totally agree with you. Get out there and take a picture that pleases you not everyone else. Whether that means it’s an iconic one or not. There is so much snobbery in landscape photography. Some people act like they were the first person to shoot a scene and no one else should bother. You should always do it for yourself. It’s always worth it for the practice and the enjoyment of being outdoors. Cracking images, John Regards Tony
Nice walk from Runswick Bay to Staithes along a section of the Cleveland Way. Gives a great view of Staithes from the top of the cliff south(ish) of the village. I agree with your sentiments about taking iconic images, but there are some images that are done to death, especially those of "art" objects in the landscape (or seascape). When I was in Staithes last year I decided not to try the iconic shot, too many photographers there already and I had a walk to Skinningrove to do.
Totally agree mate, there are so many round here that people are always looking for something different and they ignore the classics but miss the conditions which you were so right about 😊👍🏻
It's iconic for a reason. If it didn't make a good photo no one would photograph it. It's also a good measure on your photography, are you capturing it as well as others?
