Looks like you were perfectly positioned. Very nice images, Gill and great to see you back! Filter helps tremendously and I always forget that I have one in my bag, lol! I am usually recording data (severe weather storm spotter for local area in Tampa Bay, Florida) but this year I am focusing (pun intended) on getting quite a few more images/video during our active storm season. Take care and thank you for sharing!!
I am very lucky to live rural so I get some good views ;) An ND is essential for the day time lightning - as is the Pluto. We have had some good storms the last week or two. We dont get a lot. Take care too and thanks for commenting :)
Hey Mark. Yes it has been a while...lol. I understand your hesitation. I am not sure about other Triggers?? Lightning was the reason I bought the Trigger in the first place.
Hi Gill, love the content, I'm using miops smart trigger for my shots . Not particularly successful so far for daytime shots. If only it was as easy as aurora shots!
Thankyou for your comment. I haven't used Miops. I find the Pluto does the job pretty well. But you are right - it is harder than the aurora. And just as rare...lol :)
Scott, You've found the same issues I'm having with your miops as my patchmaster trigger. (patchmaster is now known as miops after they were brought out) back in 2013 ish.
I have a patchmaster trigger, miops own patchmaster now so they're no longer a option. Night time lightning it's great, no wasted shots... However in the day with changing conditions you get alot of false triggerings, which gets annoying. It's my only gripe with the trigger. In the daytime, I don't bother setting the trigger up, just set to do a timelapse and only keep the shots I want. Lots of shots to go through... But it beats mucking about with the settings all the time especially on the trigger. Just my experience with the patchmaster trigger now called miops
Thanks for your comment. I dont have this trigger so haven't encountered this problem. I find the Pluto good at capturing the strike. The only time it goes haywire is if you move the camera. Then you just have to stop it and start it again. Certainly a lot less shots to go through...
It's been long ting time. Are you in NZ or Australia? I live in Sydney. expecting more pluto video and others Thanks. Stay in safe always under pandemic circumstance
Thanks Jay. Yes it has been a while. I think I dropped my bundle a bit over the last while. I am in SW Victoria. I will endeavour to make some more Pluto videos. To be honest - I have taken a lot of footage but not put them together to post. You stay safe too. Take care :)
So is the shutter release automatic? I am confused as to wheather I push the shutter button on the camera or pluto or phone! I am all hooked up and feel pretty good about the menus... Just not sure if the pluto has a sensor that sets off the shutter release automatically? Clearly a rookie here.
You're spouting dangerous nonsense about rubber tyres and not touching metal in the car. The reason the inside of the car is safe is because it's a faraday cage your tyres aren't going to do anything with meg-volts of electricity. Doesn't matter whether you touch the inside of the car or not. Charge cannot exist on the inside of a conductive object.
