Shooting and hunting with a black powder shotgun is one of the best kept secrets out there. And they don't play second fiddle to any smokeless gun.

Great showcase of a fine shotgun. It's great that they decided to offer this. Niche, it may be, but for those traditionalists, a great alternative.

Thank you for the video of the day. Years ago I read that the really well designed flintlocks had an ignition time as quick as the newer cap locks. It takes a lot of knowledge and skill to design a good flintlock. Diameter and position of the flint hole, ergonomics of the hammer and frizzen, powder quality, etc.

I have always liked and enjoyed Capandball postings on RU-vid. I have competed at MLAIC clay events and was pleased to hear of this SxS flinter, but was sad to see the type of locks they used when it came out! I had hoped Pedersoli were going to use locks similar to their Mortimer rifle & shotgun (both of which I have owned). I wrote to Pedersoli and told them how I felt! I used originals for MLAIC, but use repros for ducks and pheasants! Keep up the great videos "Capandball"

Many years ago I tried to hit skeet targets with a flintlock double. Never touched one but had a blast trying. It showed my weaknesses. This gun interests me however I would be afraid to cost one out in case it within my budget.

something I always wondered about double flintlocks; how common is a chain fire? With the first lock inadvertently igniting the priming powder in the second pan? I know the frizzen should keep it covered but you would think there would still be a chance of it igniting when there's that much flame right next door.

I hope it will be very much like yours with same chokes, shorter barrels and regulated multi leaf sights calibrated or regulated for shooting slugs through the unchoked cylinder bore barrel at various distances. The modified choke barrel should be for buckshot or "steel waterfowl shot". A true mixed bag hunting gun is what I prefer.*

Seems like the ignition is very rapid (to my untrained eye). Especially the left barrel in this video. You can definately hunt with this even if I would not care to take it to the Skeet. All in all a very beutiful gun, and it's fun that they decided to make a modern one!

Howdy CapandBall! I just wanted to stop by and thank you for your fantastic videos! I just recently found your channel, and immediately went and pledged to your Patreon! It's not much, but I hope it helps! I had a question for you regarding black powder cartridges. There's two things I absolutely love in terms of firearms: Black Powder, and high caliber! I've got a .50-90 Sharps on the way and a .577/450 Martini Henry is next on my list, but I'm looking for a revolver that will go nicely with them. I recently saw your video where you compared the .45 caliber Colt Walker against the 1860 Army and 1857 Navy in terms of penetration. The Walker is considered by some to be the most powerful revolving handgun until the invention of the .357 Magnum. Do you personally feel that to be the case, or did the likes of the .45 Colt cartridge guns overshadow it, assuming similar barrel lengths of course? Thanks again for the great videos, keep them coming!

beautiful shotgun. a 20g is wonderful to shoot, just takes a little refining at the range to understand how it shoots.

I have used sawdust, or not saw dust but this bigger chip of wood what comes out from woodworking in my brass black powder shotgun shells. I don't know would it be possible to use in ML. At least in shells the wood acts perfectly as a cushing and a fiber at the same time when it's pressed. What i put in the shell from bottom up is: Powder, cardboard, wood chips, cardboard, shot, cardboard+wood glue.

Will there be a do it yourself kit Version much like the percussion model ???

If there was ever a time you had to get the lock time down on a flint lock, this is it. Shooting clays with that thing must be a challenge.

Excellent video the same as all your prior videos. What exactly did you say was the pan powder, all I heard was it is finer than 4F?

Ooh! Ooh! I have an idea! :-) Why not teach us how to make ML shotgun cartridges? The only reason I've never brought my own muzzleloader to the trap range is that I don't want to delay the squad, the rest of whom use breechloaders, while I load for the next target. I usually have less than a minute to prepare for the next clay.
