The 3-4 times I have gone to buy a Ford Lightning from a used car dealer the pump is not working for a few reasons. Awesome that you have the gauges set up. I love stuff like that.

Have you rebuild the old pump with the new brushes would really love to see that video I'm having this issue now and really wanting to rebuild my oem pump instead of buying it great video.

The replacement pump is a Bosch (Made in Germany) sourced item sold by Ford Performance. It is my understanding that it is a very common pump and is used in Mercedes, as well as some other supercharged vehicles - Darren

I got my SVT IAT gauge from the vendor that sells the basic kit. They are called Aeroforce Interceptor Scangage, google them up! You would have to check their site, but they offer the SVT logo as part of their Accesories, look under that menu, check Ford, and select SVT. They appear to still list at $10. what I noticed , is that my intercooler pump has not working since more than 20k miles, Im not a hard driver on the supercharger and the times that Push the gas pedal enough to put the supercharger to work have been only a few. how can I Know if the S.charger is damaged? , it still works when I hit the gas pedal. is the pump always working ? thanks great video
What kind of elbow and cold air intake is that? Looks very nice. I like the video also and yes my O2 pump is dead gotta order one. When you said you got a looking to see if swirling I got to thinking it’s been along time since I seen that happen no telling how long the thing is been out I’ve already replaced at one time with The Bosch. I figured no way it’s out again already but that explains why I blew the cap off the intercooler reservoir a couple times. I thought the Germans made better stuff than that just picking I know they do I got a bosch jigsaw
The elbow and cold air intake are all part of a JLT Cold Air kit for the 99-04 SVT Lightning. Mine is an older Generation 1 piece and is out of production as far as I know. The good news is the much better Gen 2 kit should still be available. I am glad the video was helpful to you and having a fully functional intercooler pump is very important to making best power and keeping your blower discharge temps safe. I just bought my 04 lightning in November 2020 and ive noticed a slight drop on boost performance. Would you recommend me having my Intercooler checked? I will look at the flow like you suggested in the video. Also how can you tell if your intercooler fluids are low? About how many miles should i check my intercooler punp and fluid? I havent changed the intercooler or checked if its plugged. Any advice?
Hi, congratulations on your Lightning purchase, they are certainly a fun and unique vehicle. They do have some notes on care and feeding, and managing intercooler temps is key to peak performance when you need it. You can visually inspect for IC flow in the tank, that is easy enough. If you are serious about it, look for a guage or other OBD2 reader that can give you real data. The truck will reduce power through things like ignition timing reduction as the temps get hotter as well. Check the coolant level using the marks on the side of the tank, there should be two reference marks for hot and cold levels. I would use a guage to keep an eye on the IAT2 (Charge) temps, and if they are higher than 135*F check for power at the pump, and pump function. The mostly likely issue is a failing pump if you observe any problems, the cores can get plugged, but it's far less common than pump failures. My recommend is to get a guage and start watching the temps, you will quickly get to know what is normal and acceptable, and what is cause to investigate. This is a great question, and depends on your intended use. Intercooler fans are an excellent upgrade if you are a drag racer or like to have maximum power available during city driving. The fans can also be wired to a switch to run even when the vehicle is cooling in the pits with the engine off. However in +35 mph cruising or freeway conditions the fans are of no benefit because the airflow will cool the intercooler as it was designed. Unltimately the choice is yours, and having IAT2 (post IC) temps that are cooler than IAT1 (ambitent intake) in traffic is an awesome thing. Thanks fir watching and commenting! - Darren

The IC pump is temperature controlled by the IAT 2 Temp (Charge Temp) I cannot recall what the on/off temps are set to, but that could explain why yours does not come on right away. Mine cycles, but it can be adjusted in the calibration if you work with a professional tuner. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Darren
Billy Cowan in my experience on the SVT Lightning and the Shelby GT500 neither vehicle will throw any sort of code or indicator when the IC pump has failed.

I clamped the flat part in a bench vice, applied some WD40 around the pump body and wiggled it loose. It's just a friction fit and should not give serious troubles. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Darren
Its a bit of a wrestle some times. Lock the mounting flange in a vise, spray the body of the pump with your favorite lube, and use your hands to twist the pump. Once you can rotate it, twist and pull it free from the GT500 mount. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Darren
