I have watched all of your grocery hauls this year and honestly I thought you would run out of food and not be able to do $200 a month all year. The last 2 years (since tracking) we are around $600 a month food/household for 3 adults but will continue to work on my budget. Thanks for bringing us these videos!

I bought that taupe plaid blanket at Sam’s last week! My husband was trying to get checked out as fast as he could before I grabbed anything else, but, luckily, they had that blanket display right beside the cash registers! I was able to run, grab and throw it at the cash register counter right at the end! It is sooooo soft and cozy and warm!

I am probably late to the yogurt tips, but last time I meal prepped I made yogurt popscicles and the kids loved them! I just scopped vanilla yogurt into molds. It is messy for toddlers though 😉

Hi, Merry Christmas! I have enjoyed watching your videos and love your sense of humor and affection with your husband and kids. I think you really do a great job. Your challenge and budget are very not easy. Things come up and happen in real life. I think you have done really well and what is most impressive is that you have ended the year with a really good inventory to start 2020. Have you thought of thinking like a business and take inventory at new years of what you have on hand to start the new year? My husband was in the grocery business his whole life and he shopped for me, so I learned to have my pantry with my basics and back up meals because he was a busy man and I could not ask him to shop every few days. Basically, he brought the groceries home on Saturday afternoon. I used to have him bring two cans of tomatoes, tomato sauce, tuna and things like that. It would be interesting to know how much would it you think it would cost to have a back up of four or five meals or a week for your size family? How many meals do you think is a good backup? Maybe you already covered this in one of your videos, but I don't recall. Thanks for sharing. Again, have a Happy Holidays!

We did Instacart for a while... we quit using it though, because they set their own prices, and will often remove products from their listing if the store has them marked down too far. We are using the grocery pick-up at our local store instead. We have to pay a personal shopper fee, but it works out to being the same or less than Instacart, plus we don't have to pay the $99 annual membership that Instacart charges

That Greek yogurt with honey is delicious. Instacart I like and dislike. They added $7.00 to my cost in case I made an upgrade on products. That money was not returned. Also I was charged before the end of month when I had a month free trial. That money was added back to my bank account.

Christine, does Smith's do the Cash Back program that Kroger does? It's like iBotta, but no receipt scanning involved. I access it from Kroger's actual website, then click Save, then all the way at the bottom is Cash Back. You Load the cash back coupon to connect to your account, buy it in store, and maybe 3-5 days later the cash back posts to your account. When you get up to $20, you can transfer it to PayPal, but you can transfer the money back onto your Kroger account so when you check out it will automatically take that money off. This morning I reached $20 and just transferred it to PayPal.

Your bacon prices are FANTASTIC! If I can get crappy Oscar Meyer bacon for $7.49 I'm 😊.

Albertsons is too expensive especially in SoCal! I would rather go to Ralph's (Kroger), Trader Joe's, or Sprouts (cheap prices for produce and organic food).

I sat here with my mouth open for most of this video and those prices!! Is this normal in America?? Here in new Zealand it is $10.50 for ONE large nutella and last Christmas I spent $55 ON SALE for the same size ham! Average grocery bill for us (2 adults 7yr old 3 year old) is $250 a week plus one takeaway dinner (mc Donald's, kfc, pizza hut etc) costing about $30-$35 using vouchers and codes

Of course you should tip Instacart drivers! They usually are the ones shopping for you too. Just like pizza or other food deliverers, they don't make enough money with out tips.

I’m curious for your $200 a month budget. How do you count things on Ibotta etc. do you count the price out of pocket at the time of the purchase or the price with the deduction that ibotta puts back in your account?

I'm confused. I've seen in several videos where you do grocery pickup and mention Ibotta. My Ibotta app will not let me do their rebates on pickup orders since you don't get a traditional receipt. It's in their FAQ section that they don't do redemptions on pickup orders. So how are you getting your rebates with pick up?

Have you had any trouble using Ibotta with the Walmart Grocery Pick up? My last receipt was denied they told me that Ibotta is only for IN STORE purchases and pick up orders will not be honored :(

Thanks for a years worth of inspiration. We only have three people in our home and it seems impossible to lower our food budget to $200 a month. As a former tip earner, please tip MORE than the mandatory tip. Employees who earn tips, provide a service and meet a need that would otherwise go unmet. The tipped employee usually fills the least prestigious, most physically demanding, potentially dangerous, and highest stress causing positions. They usually earn the lowest wage possible and depend on tips to make providing service a viable choice of income.

Don't use instacart if you don't plan to tip. I'm a shopper for instacart. We do all the shopping and delivering for you so just like you would tip your pizza driver, you should tip your shopper too.
