Off comment but related. I swear ever since you defined chemical as organic and mineral as inorganic sunscreens the entire dermatology/skincare enthusiasts on line community started to use the same terminology. OG!
That SunBum SPF 70 is legit. I was on a tube ride in a river for 3 hours with the blazing sun bearing down on me and didn't get sunburned. I did reapply like halfway through the trip though
Dr. Dray, I am so thankful I found your channel. It was because of your channel I had my first annual skin check last week. I had a very small BCC nodule by my nose that was removed via Moh’s, today. Thank you so much for giving your time so unselfishly creating these videos. I truly cannot put the thanks in my heart into words. ❤
Great video. Neutrogena puts out so many sunscreens that I usually pass by because it's too confusing. I really appreciate you mentioning a few that you really like. I'm currently using Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Daily Sunscreen - I like it a lot. It states it has a velvet finish and it really is so much less shiny and tacky than many sunscreens I've tried. Have a great day!
Black Girl Kids is THE bargain for US sunscreens. Almost everything gives me eye sting and burn including mineral. Not so much with BGK. I only notice some discomfort when I’m cleansing it off. Never while it’s on during the day.
I’m a hairy beast of a man and I’m black so sunscreen is tricky for me. I’ve been using the Shiseido ultimate sun protection lotion SPF 60+. I use it on my face and body. Doesn’t get in my beard or hair on my body. I don’t love the price but it helps that I get a discount at work
Happy Tuesday Dr. Dray! I swear by Asian sunscreens with next generation filters. They're the only ones that don't burn my very sensitive eyes and have that luxury feeling! Bonus for me I finally have my 31 year old daughter wearing sunscreen every day. All I have to do is show her all the sun damage on my 60 year old skin. I'm so grateful for teaching me how to care for my skin!
I love the P Calm Water Barrier Sunscreen spf 50. It feels like a moisturizer and no scent whatsoever. I just ordered a backup. I'm hoping it'll be on-sale during Amazon Prime Day.
I currently use La Roche Posay Anthelios Uvmune 400 Dermo-Pediatrics Hydrating Lotion SPF 50+ and it's super hydrating and fast absorbing 😊❤. Loved the target sunscreen variety ❤😊.
Totally with you on the LRP melt-in milk spf 100!! It's my hands-down favorite sunscreen. It even works well under a light foundation. Walgreens has what they call Age Protection Face spf 110 that is not a dupe for the LRP melt-in but I find it to be great as a body sunscreen (it has a soft fragrance). If I'm wearing light colors, neither of these two sunscreens can be worn near the fabrics because avobenzone causes orange discoloration. To avoid avobenzone, I like Beauty of Joseon spf 50 for face and Banana Boat Sensitive mineral spf 50 for body. For lips, I completely agree about the Banana Boat balm and its Target dupe! I also like Coppertone Sport balm spf 50 in the blue stick. Stay cool, everyone!!
Happy 4th of JULY ! 🇺🇸🎆🇺🇸. I’ve been using Banana Boat Light as Air SPF 50 for my body, and Bondi Sands SPF 50 for my face. For an every day, non water resistant, Beauty of Joseon SPF 50 is my HG.
The Banana Boat lip balm has retinyl palmitate which gave my lips a horrible rash. I prefer the O'Keefe's SPF lip balm. I've been using it for years with no irritation, and it layers well under lipstick.
Stop giving me ideas because as a Canadian who is going to New York in September I know damn well where I'm going to end up. There's a limit of what I can bring home 😅
Hi Dr Dray :) My favorite facial sunscreen has to be the Drmtlgy universal tinted moisturizer. I use it often as a skin tint and no foundation or even as a base. Also like the Haru Haru wonder black rice moisture airyfit. I don't use any pure zinc type sunscreens - always feel too thick. Just realized none of these are from Target lol. Whoops!! I o use Bullfrog Gel for my body quite often...is that there?!?
Since Black Girl Sunscreen Kids was introduced by you a few years ago, that has been my go to! As well as the fragrance free BondiSands! Love your videos and thank you for all you do!
Not carried at Target, but I’m loving Bondi Sands for body. It’s is so nice and not filmy, doesn’t cake at my elbows like some of the neutrogena sunscreens.
I got the most affordable SPF 50 at target which was their big tube of up&up brand dupe for the banana boat sport water resistant body sunscreen. $5.50 for 10 oz.
I’ve been loving the Neutrogena Clear Face Serum SPF60 for my combo/oily skin! Doesn’t break me out, doesn’t sit heavy or feel greasy, leaves a natural glow finish. It’s great 😎
I am 3 weeks post mohs surgery for bcc on nose tip. Lots of redness but healing well. Would it be ok to use a cicaplast and or a tinted spf to mask the redness or should I stay with vaseline till the redness goes away on its own? Self conscious going into public..
Blue lizard sensitive seems to be leaving non visual cast in my skin tone .. (few mins after application) Happy I found one finally! On a hunt to find more non-cast/less cast mineral based sunscreen since my skin doesn’t seem to like chemical filters and giving me bad dermatitis..
When I got sunscreen for my face at Walmart I saw an Equate Baby sunscreen for sensitive skin so I thought I’d give it a try! I noticed you didn’t mention CereVe face sunscreen.😁 Thanks for the great advice! ❤️
The Sun Bum Gel is fantastic, especially for oily skin types. For me it’s better than the Supergoop Unseen and similar formulations. As for the Vacation SPF, it’s my current favorite sunscreen brand for body. But, they are very specific use products…the Chardonnay Oil is great for leisure and relaxing by the pool. I love looking like a shiny glowing vacationer while I sip a drink lol. I certainly wouldn’t use it on a normal day. Their whole vibe is leisure and I think they want people to use SPF in place of tanning oils and such. So for that they are amazing.
I aged out of oily skin many years ago but I prefer gel sunscreens because I prefer not to leave visible sunscreen residue (white stuff and/or grease) here, there and everywhere around my house and car.
Yes! That happened to my first car (white residue stuck into the grooves on the steering wheel, on the door and dash controls), and I vowed never to do that again. Thank goodness for sunblock clothing and driving gloves, all the protection, none of the mess.
I was hoping for a Naked Sundays mention! I love the Collagen Glow 100% Mineral and the Cabana Clear Water Gel. They both feel like virtually nothing on once dried down.
As a woman with older skin, who also doesn’t like the smell of unscented or heavily coconut beach sunscreens, I loved the Chardonnay Oil for use on my arms. The fragrance is extremely subtle. I’ve been dedicated with my facial spf for years. Elta Md Uv elements 44. I bought every tube I could find when I heard they were reformulating. But I’ve been inconsistent wearing a daily sunscreen on my body. So the best sunscreen is the one I will wear. I like a fairly emollient, dewy formulation. It masks the aging on my arms, partly resulting from laying on aluminum foil looking contraptions in baby oil with iodine when I was a teen. When we know better…..The Bondi sands used to be carried in cvs. I didn’t like the smell, but it faded and it looked nice. The Vacation Lotion pilled horribly upon reapplication. Oh, the Chardonnay oil bottle leaks excessively. I believe the oil is formulated for sunbathers, providing an illusion of protection with a 30 instead of 15, 12, or 8 which are the usual for tanning oils. In that respect, it is a more comfortable oil than all the others. I am now using Hawaiian Tropic sheer touch 70. It makes my skin look better. I don’t mind smelling this way in the summer. Although I would prefer not.
I’ve been using a sunscreen from Walgreens, the Walgreens brand in the yellow tube. I started using it because it was a full 8 oz( I believe?)…used to get it for $3.99 and this year it was $11. I first could only find the SPF 50 but this year found the SPF 70. It is very moisturizing, very little if any caste and is ok on my very allergy prone face. Does cause eye irritation but if I leave a wide enough margin around my eyes to apply the Neutrogena SPF100 I can get by with it. Tell me your thoughts…
I have a question, if you go somewhere 6 days of a week, every day of your life for until you we die and they is a very giant room and all over the ceiling has those long lights with the plastic covers, which would be safer in protecting my face against all those about 100 or more long lights, I want to have a clear understanding, is it the tinted, don't use make up but I don't care if I have to use the tinted but I don't think they have a high number of protection, I really need to know, I thought it was the mineral sunscreen for the lights or for outdoors so I bought, it lives the white cast but these one not noticeable which is Sport Mineral from Coppertone 50 💯 Naturally sourced Zinc Oxide resists sweat heat water. Please I really need to know
Canadian here, love your channel! What I can get at our local Shoppers Drug Mart is different from your Target. I've been using the Neutrogena Dry Touch SPF 45 which is pretty good and doesn't look oily (though it does sting the eyes), but I'm looking at trying the Ombrelle Daily UV Anti-Aging SPF 60 which is a chemical sunscreen and is supposed to layer better under makeup.
I really want to love sun bum SPF 50 water resistant facial sunscreen but it stings my eyes no matter what I do and it is super oily/greasy. It’s a love hate relationship because this is the first sunscreen that I used up completely but as I stated i don’t like the greasy feeling on my skin and how it irritates my eyes. However that gel sunscreen intrigues me!!! I’m going to have to try it!
Hello, Dr. Dray. The intro got me, since I work at Target! Thank you for taking us along with you. Take care, stay cool. I can’t *wait* to see the vid on Vacation Oil, because _your_ _face_ at the end there!
Ive been using the neutrogena serum one- I enjoy it but it definitely stings the eyes and doesn’t seem water resistant. If Im going to be swimming I prefer to use something else.
I have that sun bum lip sunscreen at first it feels great kind of oily but in about a couple of hour my lips are dry and irritated. I have a hard time finding and spf chapstick that doesn't irritate my lips.
Transparent Labs has two absolutely amazing sunscreens, affordable and free shipping on everything ! Love the clear Elf too, it doesn’t dry me up like most sunscreens. Happy Tuesday ❤
I love the 100spf from la rosche posay, I have a horse with a very pink nose, I definitely notice the higher spf has helped protect him significantly more, but he is a horse so I’m not re applying every 2 hours 😂
Loved the video, great information. I've been using haruharu wonder for about a month, and LOVE IT! High protection, goes on like butter, doesn't burn my eyes, and it acts as a moisturizer, too. Can't ask for more!
The neutrogena invisible daily is so great but it’s breaking me out a bit in my forehead since I get oily there. I will have to try the new clear face one. I have a hard time finding water resistant sunscreens that don’t break me out and that aren’t heavy physical sunscreens. Thanks for all your info!
I tried the Target lip balm with sunscreen. As soon as I put it on, my throat and inside my mouth started itching. I wiped it off right away and washed my lips! But I got a rash around my mouth as well. I have no idea what was in it that I'm allergic/sensitive to, but I can't use most organic sunscreens. The only one that works for me is the Kroger tinted sunscreen that you've recommended. I love that, and it's organic. Back to looking for a sunscreen lip balm!
The sun bun sunscreen spears to have coconut oil/fragrance in it. It’s like a primer consistency. Honestly - it broke me out because I have very acne prone skin and it always gets clogged when using coconut oil.
Dr. Dray Thank you so much for your wonderful advice. Your tutorials have cleared up my skin greatly and you have saved me so much money. Thank you, thank you thank you. Hope you come down to the bay area for a convention one day.😊
I like the Vacation dupe for Bain de Soleil but only put on my legs. Face is Neutrogena serum or Haru Haru or Agency tinted. Body - using Blue Lizard but don’t love it. Used to use Hawaiian Tropic but even at SPF 70 doesn’t seem to protect well. My husband likes Black Girl or Haru Haru. Thanks for all these great recommendations!
I've been liking the Eucerin Age Defense SPF50! Been wanting to try their oil control sunscreen, as well, but just haven't felt the need to make a switch yet
I love the sun bum daily body spf 50 in the pump bottle! 🧴 the pump makes application so much more convenient. strong coconut fragrance, however, I personally don’t mind it for summertime. for my face, it’s GOT to be a korean sunscreen. I’m loving haru haru black rice I got from stylevana.
Love ya Dr. Dray!! I’ve tried the Elf spray sunscreen they call it also a primer. It is VERY greasy. Ick ! Wow that was a fail for me. I love the Differin Oil Absorbing SPF. Very nice.
I am loving the Kroger sunscreen invisible gel! I also use the tinted version but mostly when hiking. It’s got glow that I need to powder down. Really love them both. You talked about them last year!
I just placed a stylevana order last week and fingers crossed it arrives before my current tube of biore watery essence runs out, it`s the last tube left from my previous big order! I got a couple more of the same, I`ve heard good things about their most recent reformulation, as well as a few I haven`t tried before, a cosrx one, a skin 1004 one, and that tocobo stick so I can reapply at work before walking home, even if I`m too busy to stop and wash my hands and find a mirror. I`m so excited for them to arrive! And thanks to you, Dr Dray, I used your code even though the main promo has passed, and I still saved a couple bucks! Thanks, Doc! 😎🌻🌞
may you do a skincare routine before and after the gym, i’m starting to go and don’t know to clean my face 3 times a day or to use hypochlorous acid spray before or after reapplying sunscreen
Appreciate the shopping trip. I always like hearing you talk about different sunscreens. I do enjoy trying something new occasionally and these videos are always helpful. Happy Tuesday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a nice evening. 💚
Dr Dray, I am one of the people OBSESSED with the Vacation SPF products haha I use daily the face mist, and the chardonnay lip oil. Not gonna lie, when at the beach, I don't mind the oily sensation on my skin lol so I am dying to try the chardonnay SPF body oil. I definitely want to see your video reviewing their products.
Just a note about the lemon eucalyptus for insect repellant. It can cause a reaction. I put some on the other day for my walk and my skin was burning within about ten minutes.
Loving the CeraVe tinted. No eye burning, blends well. I have very sensitive skin and eyes, can't do the chemicals. This one is great. Neutrogena tinted is good too, but prefer CeraVe consistency.
Just tried that Neutrogena Clear Face SPF 50, and it irritated my eyes plus my whole face. I only used it for 2 to 3 days. I’ve switched back to my regular cetaphil spf that works just fine and doesn’t irritate me, but man, now I’ve got to wait till my skin heals from being rough, irritated, and inflamed. I know many other people like that spf, it just didn’t work for me unfortunately. Also I usually always wear a mineral spf around my eyes and a chemical spf on the rest of my face like Dr. Dray said in the video. But I just wanted to see if the neutrogena one wouldn’t irritate my eyes, but it did, like all chemical spf’s do for me.
