I just want to say how excited I was to find your channel. I was down and out because I had to sell my high end camper van to buy a home base. I was literally depressed about it, but I bought a Subaru Outback thinking I could still car camp or pull a teardrop. You’ve gotten me excited again! I traveled all of the country for two and a half years full time in my van, but now have new dreams. I’m an avid hiker and want to be able to camp near trail heads. I look forward to watching all your hiking videos! Happy trails!

😭❤️❤️ OMG. This msg!!! I'm getting ready to retire January 2nd 2025 and trying little by little to get my courage up to finally start stepping out. Like the commenter above, I just bought my retirement vehicle, a Subaru Outback (her name is Helen... Helen Wheels 😁 ) I want to start trying car camping come next year. I would do it this year but work is just too darn busy. But I am doing hikes here in Richmond through a local Meetup group. You have made a lot of videos, I enjoy them. Glad that is no longer a weekly obligation and burden. I am keeping an eye on a number of popular UK RU-vidrs to see how long they last. One left his job because of stress and anxiety and decided to see if he could be a full time RU-vidr instead. Sounds like a bad idea to me, far more stressful. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Wildlife is everywhere from your back yard, to cities or the mountains. I always say educate yourself to what's in the area you will be in and review safety precautions. But don't let fear stop you from doing what you want. Bears? Snakes? What is your fear? I rarely see either to be honest and I am outside constantly.

Thanks for stopping by Kaat. I was on my way out of state and this was near where I was traveling. So I thought I would stretch my legs from a 7 hour drive and do a short hike to get my blood moving before getting back in the car. I always like to shop small business's and support companies who give back to the environment. The sweatshirt was made from recycled water bottles. Recycling and repurposing at its best. I'm a good 2 -3 hours to the mountains. Not sure how far away you live. I happened to be on a road trip and this was a great stop to get out and stretch my legs before getting back in the car and continuing on. ~RVA~

Looks like a great hike! My husband would go for it since it is less than 5 miles. And you are right about the payoff. Beautiful! Was just in Shenandoah on the A.T. last week and saw you commented on the view we went to at Little Stoneyman in Far Out. I was like, "Aww! RVA!"

I would love to do all 250 miles of this trail. But it has to be in the spring before things get overgrown. I love Kepler overlook too. I camped up there for the night, but the bugs going through there were relentless. Luckliy I had my bug net with me to keep them out of my eyes.

@@nicks1088 Some sections are better than others. I tried hiking a section about 5 years ago and it was so over grown I turned around. I didn't want to be loaded with ticks and it was a lot to try to push through. I know a few people who maintain certain sections and they do a fantastic job.

@@ToddStull I am alas a ground dweller. I never met a hammock that was comfortable and that so I can actually sleep in. I need to be flat. Recreational Hamic’s to like just sit and take in the view or relaxin I can do those but I can’t stay overnight in a hammock. Team tents over here 🤣

Yes I’m great! I just got burnt out on making weekly long format videos. I needed a break. Honestly it’s just a ton of work and takes a lot of time to create & produce. I just needed a break. If your on Instagram I post about 5 times a week there of all the places I am backpacking, hiking and traveling to. I’m still hiking just as much as always. I have. But as I have talked to many ppl about needing liability in insurance incase someone falls or gets hurt and sues you. And it’s pretty pricey. I guess. That’s why a lot of ppl don’t do group hikes or meet ups. I would love to meet more of my subscribers and followers. This crazy world we live in. I wish things could just be more simplistic.

Sometimes those short hikes have the biggest views and that sure happened on this one and what a place to sit down and just breath in the grandeur of those awesome views. The Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and remember Laurel and Hardy singing about them! Cheers Alan

That overlook reminds me of Signal Point on the north end of the Massanutten Range. I'll have to see if I can connect that trail to others for an overnighter.

I didn't see any campsites in this section, but there could be some in either direction. I did see a shelter ahead on the sign at the very beginning. Let me know what you find out. I've thought about hiking all 250 miles of this trail. LOL! It's on my to do list. ~RVA~

So I've been trying to camp alone and I've been looking at tents. Do you have any recommendations on a one person tent? You can set up pretty easily? Do you have a video like that I think that would make a cool video

I don't use 1 person tents. I only use 2 person tents. 1 person tents don't have enough room for a backpack for me to move around to change clothes. I have a video on the Nemo Osmo Elite 2p that one is on the pricey side, almost as much as Zpacks duplex but I also use a Landshan 2 that is more budget friendly. Hope that helps. ~RVA~

No none along this stretch but it’s the Tuscarora Trail so there are for sure some places near here on either side of the parking area or on up head. Ppl thru hike this trail and there are shelters.
