This story is said to be in the Babylonian Talmud. The carob tree is native to the Mediterranean region and the Middle East, and its fruits are used as food for livestock, but also for poor people.
We owe our forefathers a lot of things throughout our lives. We were able to build our civilization on the heritage they left behind. Like the old man in this story, I hope we all live with a mindset of helping our descendants.
