To me the most amazing part of all that, is that there is absolutely no seam, it looks as If the block and the sleeves are one piece.
@lawrencejackson4001
@lawrencejackson4001 3 года назад
Some put oil or grease between the two and from the heat of grinding bonds together then when the top is cut it bonds them into one.
@UnyieldingSeraph
@UnyieldingSeraph 3 года назад
@@lawrencejackson4001 uh no, that's not at all what is going on. The heat needed to bond the two metals together would be much...much..much higher, and you don't really want oil or grease between two hot pieces of metal you're trying to bond together. It looks seamless because of the tolerances between the bored out cylinder and the sleeve being so tight, also the angle of the camera

I work in an RO industry for aerospace. You would be surprised how much we actually repair/overhaul. A big driver is likely parts availability and new part cost. Sometimes it's more cost effective to replace but many times it's cheaper to fix.

Walk into a shops lay your cards on table and ask if they are interested in giving you a go even just hanging around and sweepings the floors to start with.
