Because prison life and prisoners are overall childish. They act like they are in kindergarden, the only difference is that they are grown men with grown men weapons. So when they have their childish fights people die. But besides that they are chidren in adult bodies. They get told when to eat what to eat, when to sleep. Alot of the time by people who are younger than them. There is really nothing honorable about this. These people think they are real men, but they arent. Thats why it's not a hit, people don't wanna see this. It's cringe, and the people who like it have this fucked up childish idea that prison life is cool.

Yeah, the movie is awesome. Each scene is well paced, the movie as a whole feels like it goes by in no time at all. It really takes a look at what the penitentiary system in America produces. You either end up a victim or the predator. It is a little unbelievable a white collar everyday dude ends up a hardcore stone-faced killer; but essentially the fall from grace, the abandonment of all one loves for the benefit of the gang they work for, it’s all the things a person is forced to choose once they end up in such a situation. It’s sad that Money does what he has to, and he’s a standup guy, he holds a sense of loyalty to a world that chews up loyal men, and spits up snitches. But Money is the one who prevails. I definitely don’t wanna spoil this film, it’s worth watching.

@@InVinoVeratas Money accepts the fact that he joined the gang. He understands it was his only choice. Then he commits to distancing himself from his family for their safety. But he also learns how to assert himself. If you remember in the beginning he gets pushed in the basketball game, and he says he "has the best kneepads in the office" . The fact that he learns to be a warrior and uses his intelligence to develop a machiavellian strategy to ensure his family's safety is the other main plot element.

Great spot. I appreciate little details like that which is probably why I like this movie so much. I pointed out in another video that if you compare the two fights Money has that we're shown in prison, you see how he's adapted. Specifically how long it takes that mace to work.

Prisons were built for retribution. That whole Rehabilitation thing came much later, and many places clearly don't believe in it either, evidently. Guess what? The system isn't stupid, they just don't care. When they incarcerated Clyde, aged only 21 then, they put him in a cell with a well known prison rapist. Ended up assaulting Clyde on multiple occasion and Clyde later killed him. I bet the guards and sheriff got a good laugh out of it. And that's the perfect illustration of the prison system in the US.
