The average church that streams praise and worship loses approximately 80% of viewers in the first 2 minutes.

Thank you for answering that question! It’s been bugging me for about a year now & frustrates me when I watch a certain church that won’t post their worship at all. God bless you 🕊

I would love to hear more of the praise and worship coming from you all…. Sooo maybe can we set up a separate link for Encounter Today Praise and Worship??? 🤷‍♀️ I just found personally…. Now don’t get me wrong I am 100 percent on board with what your saying, I’ve been known to skip some praise and worship on other channels and go straight to the message, but when I am viewing live stream…. I am wanting to get everything you all are experiencing…. Praise and worship is powerful right now… it’s a great way to prepare yourself and your home for the word, and open it up for the Holy Spirit…. for those that stream from home. And man you all are powerful!!!! I’ve always wanted to know what the praise and worship was like while we all wait on you all to go live… so wish I was there to experience it all in person, but what I experienced Friday night, was amazing, granted I got the tail end of praise and worship, prior to arriving… 100 percent btw about fb and RU-vid!!! Spot on brother!

So true about the P&W... We used to post the whole service, but we were only thinking about people that go to our church that maybe just didn't make it. But as Evan has said before, we need to think about the big audience, we need to reach those 3 billion people. Stream it, then chop it out.

3 billion... The biggest mission field ever in history... And we add the church are supposed to reach out, not by sending missionaries to a foreign land, but by talking God's word that we get everyday and sharing it on social media... People we may never know or hear about... God's word will not return void!

Thanks Evan. You give us something concrete, and practical to think about regarding streaming our services. This makes sense to me long term, but might be a hard pill to swallow for others on our leadership team/audience. I will definitely share this video with my pastor.

100% I've spoken with many churches that say "Well my congregation has been asking where the worship went." And while I understand that, there are millions of people out there that need what is in your house. The overall answer is, be led. :) I appreciate you!

This is all easily taken care of if you add timestamps to your videos. That's what I do with my church is RU-vid channel. Time stamps are added from the very beginning through the praise and worship songs all the way up to when the actual sermon starts and also including any baptisms after the sermon is over. Just add the timestamps to the full video and let people know that there are timestamps available in the video description and as the first pinned comment

I 100% agree with you. This is what I recommend to most churches but lately I've recommended it less. This still causes the problem of low watch time and retention. The retention graph looks like it was shot a couple times lol There are certainly pros and cons. Great comment!

@@EvanDiDio yea, that's what we did for a while and still saw the same watch dump... It did show some people jumping to the message, but most still dumped. Trying the separate video idea now...

@@EvanDiDio I understand what you're saying and I understand how many of us view RU-vid differently than most people do, but whenever it comes to an actual church service and sermons and ministry from the pulpit, that's not simply content for RU-vid. So many content creators are looking for content and then people like yourself and myself at times look at the services and sermons as content as well, but they really aren't. Their ministry. They're the gospel going forth to reach the world and you can make an argument that you want that to reach as many people as you can but unless you format it in a different way specific to the platform itself it's going to be what it is. I've also experimented with keeping the full service on a channel and then just creating a sermon only version of the same video where everything else is cut out except for the sermon itself but I only did that for a brief time and I really don't have any data to give to you in regards to that. I need to work on it again this year with one of the church RU-vid channels that I work on to see how that affects things. But one of the greatest things that has affected one of the church RU-vid channels that I work on is a clear call to action that's in every video description and in every pen comment and our church has seen amazing gross by having a clear call to action and every video that's posted on RU-vid. Hopefully that will give you guys some food for thought.

@Chris Hunter I see. Let me know if I'm understanding your thoughts correctly. You're saying there is a difference between a sermon, and content for RU-vid and for it to be considered content the format would have to be changed? I would ask 2 questions that may further clarify. 1. Why is a sermon not considered content? To define RU-vid content: YT content is a video that answers a question. (Which hopefully describes every sermon) I believe what you're saying is that there is ministry, and there is the sermon. The worship, and maybe altar time is ministry (which I would agree, is not content for all per say) Therfore yes, we would need to reformat the stream (which is the point of this video). 2. If a new visitor were to walk into the church, wouldn't we welcome them, and pray with them, and see if they need anything? I feel we are neglecting our online visitors while we should embrace them as someone who is in person. Of course this is all coming from the perspective of a media director of an average size church with a large channel (264,000 subs and 32 million views that are all organic) Does this make sense? I hope I am portraying this correctly :)

@@EvanDiDio “I see. Let me know if I'm understanding your thoughts correctly. You're saying there is a difference between a sermon, and content for RU-vid and for it to be considered content the format would have to be changed?” Yes, there is a difference between a sermon and content for YT, in my eyes. Maybe I should say that content for YT isn’t necessarily a sermon. Does that make sense? To me, a sermon isn’t determined by what the YT algo wants. Obviously, a sermon is what a minister receives or feels from God to deliver to his congregation. The process for making that sermon into content for YT is possible, but may not necessarily check all of YT’s algo boxes. To me, pastors aren’t content producers for YT, but their sermons (content) can be used as content for YT if modified appropriately. “I would ask 2 questions that may further clarify. 1. Why is a sermon not considered content? To define RU-vid content: YT content is a video that answers a question. (Which hopefully describes every sermon) I believe what you're saying is that there is ministry, and there is the sermon. The worship, and maybe altar time is ministry (which I would agree, is not content for all per say) Therefore yes, we would need to reformat the stream (which is the point of this video).” A sermon can be content, and is content, definitely. I just think that there’s a difference between being a YT content creator and being a pastor/minister. To me, the calling of being a pastor transcends being a YT content creator. I don’t ever go to my pastor and say, “Look, this sermon that you did on forgiveness is really hitting the YT algo, so can you maybe preach more sermons about forgiveness for the church YT channel?” LOL! (But you never know…the church may need more sermons about that quick, fast, and in a hurry! Lol!) Nor would I ever go to my pastor and say, “That guest preacher we had last week is a YT phenom! We need to get him back because the YT algo loves him!” LOL! “2. If a new visitor were to walk into the church, wouldn't we welcome them, and pray with them, and see if they need anything? I feel we are neglecting our online visitors while we should embrace them as someone who is in person.” Part of the reason that I keep the P&W in the video and add the timestamps is so that prospective visitors can get more of an idea of what our services are like before they come to visit. By cutting out the P&W, they’re not getting the full experience of the service they would come to in person nor would our church regulars that are unable to attend be able to know what’s going on with our church in regards to announcements, changes, etc. Also, parents love to see their kids sing and if you cut that out of the video, you have some questions to answer to those parents! One church channel that I’m working on, I did briefly experiment with keeping the full service online with timestamps and then cutting out the sermon and adding “Sermon Only” videos to the channel. Some of the church regulars appreciated that, but I didn’t see any bumps in the YT algo, but I want to try it again. Now that I have some more live streams added to the content library of that channel, I think that I’ll start adding more “Sermon Only” videos based on the most popular full services and experiment from there. I’ve also considered starting a second YT channel for one of the churches that I work on that would be just the sermons and also add clips from those sermons to the channel linking back to the full sermon. I really want to try that out because a lot of video podcasters are doing that with their long form content and it would be basically the same idea applied to sermons. “Of course this is all coming from the perspective of a media director of an average size church with a large channel (264,000 subs and 32 million views that are all organic) Does this make sense?” Uh, yeah, it makes sense that you’re flexing on me, bro! LOL! Sorry, I may be a bit scattered with the responses here. I think that I may have gotten a little defensive in regards to sermons not being YT content. In my mind, it lessens what the sermon is to me, but I know that no one ever said that in this conversation. Hope all of this makes sense!
