Feels like 50% of Q&A questions these days is "Will 'this character' be in 'this thing', or in this case 'should he have been' . No wonder Lucasfilm seem to be prioritising cameos in a lot of recent shows if that's a big chunk of what fans talk about.
I don't feel like that's the case though in this instance. A cameo is usually something really quick and unexpected to a certain extent, i.e Luke in the Mandolorian. Commander Cody in this context though could've been a main character in the show being a perhaps high ranking purge trooper. That choice could've drawn some drama between our main character and his previous clone commander. Yes, Cameos can be annoying when shoehorned, but this inclusion could've built up the story instead of it being something to only appease fans.
@@thesharpercoder Just to clarify I personally wasn't suggesting it was a bad thing necessarily, a lot of the 'cameos' service the story, especially in Mando S2. Just feels like a lot of the Q&A questions are about character appearances, but that comes with the territory I suppose given the inter-connected story-telling
@@_thomas1031 Oh absolutely if Cody had been an integral part of the story then great, and I've nothing against cameos or legacy characters showing up. My point was more about the frequency of fan questions on these Q&As being about recognisable characters showing up, as it seems to be a big talking point atm. It was just an observation though, neither good nor bad, but like you say maybe this instance is a bit different to the usual.
@@_thomas1031 Having Cody in the show would have been completely shoehorned this season. There was no logical way to explain how and why Cody would be anywhere where Obi Wan was. Now if they do a season 2, they could logically come up with a scenario where he runs into Obi Wan at some cantina.
If Star Wars has shown us anything it's that the universe is the same as our universe just futuristic. In the Clone Wars we see a hospital on Mandalore, we've seen a few military space stations used to house injured clones and one of the Thrawn novels has chocolate shop so I imagine its the same with food. Theres probably a large Tesco somewhere on the higher levels of Coruscant, theres probably a Lidl space station somewhere in the mid rim, maybe Tatooine has a Co-OP somewhere in Mos Espa. You get the idea.

Maz Kanata was my favorite thing in Force Awakens, an amazing character, who could slot in anywhere in the past (like Yoda in the High Republic). There wasn't a place for her in TLJ, but she got a super fun cameo at least. The fact she's just....another generic background character/exposition pipe in Rise is....well, ok, it's not even in the top 20 horrifying issues with that film, but it's still a problem. And the fact she hasn't been used elsewhere is absolutely criminal. If we got a Rebels sequel series, she would've been perfect....unfortunately, all that's being thrown away in lazy live-action mini-serieses it looks like. So I guess my one hope now is Bad Batch.

I have listened to the original trilogy soundtrack countless times. I am not familiar with what you are pointing out. All of the saga films end with the “Rebel Fanfare” on the horns and strings.
@@thesharpercoder I definitely swear I aint imagining it. You can find the credits themes of ANH and ESB on here and compare the opening chords of the two renditions. Practically all Star Wars things that came out afterwards use the ESB rendition of the opening chords.
They just do, there is no real answer. There are differences in the opening and ending themes in all the trilogies from one film to the next. No need to overthink it

I actually headcanon the chip thing differently. How could Obi wan have found out about the chips when he was out of contact with everyone? So to me that moment where he shows compassion to the clone is him showing forgiveness and empathy even to those who as far as he knows wronged him and his people. And that's a very jedi moment for him especially that early on in the series.

Yeah, I don't really see how Obi-wan could have known about the inhibitor chips. It doesn't matter if the homeless clone willingly turned on the Jedi or not - the Empire left him out in the cold, he is no longer a threat and he's a living being who needs help.
If the second season will be more on Kenobi's understanding of the force, it would be neat if the villain, or antagonist or threat if villain is too much, were something more abstract.
Call them hyper-viewers. So impatient the tv or streaming viewers can be. Hyper-viewers want to binge on so much of one show that it leads to ruining or creating a withdrawal symptoms. The point of viewing shows week by week, helps the viewer to watch that part more than once to better understand than what you can miss by seeing it in a whole movie.

I love the perspective of Ahsoka not so much sensing Vader's death, but absolutely sensing Anakin's return to the light and then becoming one with the Force. I'd like to think that it would be a happy moment for her. And because of her strong connection to the Force it would be like having a long lost friend back from the dead.

Q&A: In the Clone Wars series Season 7 we had a pleasure to see for a moment a new appearance of General Grievous. Also in that season we were able to briefly see Depa Billaba and young Kanan Jarrus. Later we saw the master and her padwan in the Bad Batch. Do you think there’s a chance to see the beloved general of the droid army in another animated series? Maybe in the story arc about Count Dooku in Tales of the Jedi or even in a flashback in the Bad Batch season 2. I mean, they probably wouldn’t create such a new beautiful model just to show it for a few seconds, right?
Q&A: rather than try and force future ideas that may backfire, couldn’t Lucasfilm perhaps start making adaptations of some of the best loved canon novels and comics? Whether they be live action, clone wars style animation or even anime. The Darth Vader comics (post revenge of the sith) as it’s own live action mini series? A movie adaptation of A New Dawn or Lords of the Sith? I mean, I may not be the biggest fan of the sequel trilogy but I really enjoyed reading the Phasma novel and would love to see that adapted into something visual.
Well you'd definitely create endless online discussions about which medium told the story better, aswell as freak outs over inevitable inconsistencies. So not entirely a safe route. Personally I think Lucasfilm should never stop pushing for new ideas. You can't only cater to the most popular demand, you'll miss out on so many opportunities to tell other stories that might possibly be better.
Q/A: how many people in the Rebellion (or the Empire for that matter) do you think made the connection that Luke Skywalker might have been related to the Clone Wars general Anakin Skywalker? It seems like a pretty obvious connection to make, but I don’t know if anyone has ever explicitly recognized it in canon material.
In the Bloodlines novel, it’s leaked and made known that Leia is the daughter of Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker. It wrecks her political career due to the controversy about it. Ben Solo learns of his grandfather through the media rather then Leia telling him and that frustrates him. I don’t believe they go much into what people think of Luke being the son of Vader. Leia was a major political figure so much more controversial for her

Personally, I think if Cody does return, it should probably be as a legitimate Empire supporter, no chip required. He's much more interesting that way. Anakin's rule-breaking led him to join the Empire but taught Rex to resist it, while Obi-wan's more by-the-book style kept him loyal to the Republic but taught Cody to stay with the Empire. I'm not saying that Cody has to STAY that way. You could do something where he's whole-heartedly embraced the lies about a Jedi coup because the alternative that HE betrayed the Republic is too horrific for him to deal with, only for something or someone to eventually make him realize that he's lying to himself. But we already have several clones turning on Palpatine after Order 66. I think it would be cooler to see one we like, who is a good man, be sticking with the wrong side.
I really liked the way Arcane had its release scheduled. 9 episodes, split into 3 'arcs' which spread over 3 episodes. Those 3 episodes would get released together and then it was a weekly schedule. Its a mix between the binge and weekly model, so you do get a chance to go at your own pace, but there is a lot of room for suspense and discussion. But I think Star Wars current model is fine also :)
With regards to people tuning in for Obi-Wan season 2, I think Ewan McGregor coming back to Star Wars will always be enough to bring anyone who has fond memories of the prequels back, I don't think him fighting Vader is necessary at all.
I actually prefer one episode at a time rather than binging though I know I am in the minority. I watch the first time emotionally then I rewatch for details before the next episode. Sure. And Anakin probably wouldn't have fallen to the dark side because Quinlan's force approach is not really fully the Council's approach. Anakin would've been more free to deal with his issues.

I believe that we're moving towards a live action adaptation of the Thrawn Trilogy, albeit with changes to make it fit the current Canon. We've had Weyland and Mount Tantiss confirmed, more and more Legends characters are being reintroduced such as Corran and his Jedi father in Kenobi. I think the big finale to what is currently kind of the Mandalorian Arc of the Star Wars canon will end up in some kind of adaptation of Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy. I do doubt that Mara Jade will be reintroduced, but I sincerely hope she is in some capacity, but characters like Talon Karrde I think would be easy to introduce. If there's some Canon information that I'm missing that totally rules this out, I'd be interested to find that out.
Q/A I was rewatching the last Jedi and it made me think when holdo does her hyperspace maneuver she crashes in hyperspace. Do you think that could have caused an emergence kinda like in light of the Jedi maybe not to that same scale but at least a few pieces here or there
I don't think so. I'm not sure, but if I remember correctly in "Light of the Jedi" the Legacy Run crashes while in hyperspace and in The Last Jedi the impact happens just before the Raddus makes the jump to hyperspace. So in this case, the "emergences" wouldn't be travelling through hyperspace.
Q&A: Will Legends fan service forever just be canonization of Legends characters, like thrawn and Revan, or do you think we could ever see full remakes of legends stories, that are still in legends? E.g. A new Zahn Trilogy comic adaptation.
You can’t just wave it away as like it’s something wrong with the fans though. I feel like the show has pacing issues because they had to stretch it out like an image in Microsoft word. I do agree weekly releases of episodes can be received wrong, but it doesn’t mean that it’s all on the fans.
I think there will be bad batch story things that would be spoiled if Cody were to be there with Ben. Maybe if we get a season 2 he and Ben can reunite.

Since the bad batch S2 trailer confirmed we're seeing Cody again, the rest of his story after order66 will most likely be explored in animation. So it's OK that we didn't see him in the Kenobi series. I do have a suspicion that MAYBE Cody dies somewhere/sometime between the timeline of TBB S2 & OWK... bcoz by the time we get to Rebels when Rex, Gregor & Wolffe show up, it was implied that Cody died ~ I hope we see his heroic death. Whether it's killing Rampart or Crosshair to save TBB or Jedi Padawan survivors ~ since we also see Gungi survived & seem to be defending himself with his lightsaber that we saw him construct under the tutelage of Ahsoka Tano & Huyang the architect & saber designer🤞🤞🤞
Guys...Obi-Wan as a character is one of the many things that is "beloved" not only by Stars Wars fans but literally world wide. Vader is a "nice to have" but clearly is not necessary to tell a good story. Obi-Wan vs the Inquisitorious would be a great story. The Emperor could direct them to find Obi-Wan and not inform Vader. That would be a great story. PS...Obi-Wan was a single flowing story, and I loved it. It was more like a mini series (remember thoses?).
I think Obi-Wan wasn't better received because fan expectations around original SW characters are too high. SW fans go into new content expecting the magic and wonder that the original trilogy provided. That magic can't be recreated. That's why The Mandalorian did so well, it was a new character with low expectation.
QA: since we now know Obi Wan did stuff during his exile, are we now to presume that Yoda also had some capers? Or was he in solitude from ROTS right through to Empire?
The part about Star Wars fans wanting to know things really resonates with me. I trace my love of spoilers and disdain for surprises on the comfort I felt watching Obi-Wan vs Jango Fett as a 6 year old and realizing that Obi-Wan can’t die in this fight. 😂

Cody in Kenobi would have been fine, but I think thematically he fits so much better in the Bad Batch. It's already gone quite deep into the chip thing, as has the Clone Wars before it, and from what we know about Cody at this point in time that's the next key part of his story. That needs telling in a series like the Bad Batch more than we need him showing up as a Kenobi sidekick.
That’s a really good observation about Star Wars fans lol I think they really are used to knowing things and also have PTSD of all the things they’ve worked hard to learn being changed overnight. I think those things together make for some fans watching everything angrily from the start with intense distrust.

Q/A: is it possible that Yoda spent time on Tatooine with Obi-Wan to teach him how to communicate with Qui-Gon? At the end of episode 3, he tells Obi Wan that he has training for him, and in the show Obi Wan attempts to communicate with him, so it seems like Obi Wan has had some training in that. So when and how did he learn that? Did he and Yoda communicate through the force?
What character would you love to see have a cameo in a future movie or TV show,not because they’re necessarily all that relevant to the story but just because it would be fun to see them again. serialized stories need to have a good ebb and flow of questions and answers. If all questions are only answered in the last episode, people loose interest. If answers are answered too early the payoffs seem cheap. Eg, as much as the reveal of what was in the basement in Attack on Titan was really good, it took too long to get there, same with Reva's backstory
Why do you still say Obi Wan needs to stay on Tatooine? The way the season ended with him learning to let go of his “control” of Luke leaves the door wide open for him occasionally leaving the planet to go on adventures helping the rebellion or the path.
I agree that people are too impatient, and are too quick to say things are plot holes, discrepancies, or lore breaking. Your video that points out how things in Kenobi are not contradictions is a good example. If people stop and think about things rather than just call everything bad writing, maybe they could enjoy the show more, or better accept that this is not for them and move on.
Kenobi was poorly written. Nobody wanted Revas story and they played to fast and loose with leia….. her time with Kenobi did not seem consistent with originals. People wanted more Anakin…. More Kenobi and we got less of them for Reva
That clone on the planet begging for credits should have been cody and not know with kenobi and he's do desperate for credits he left it. Cody didn't need to be a big part

Q&A: What do we think about the idea in Shadows of the sith, that makes it sound like palpatine’s compassion is what caused his undoing? He seemingly allowed his son to survive as a successful strand-cast despite him being ‘useless’ to him in the sense of his power passing down to him (granted I have not finished the book yet!). This led to Rey and his ultimate final downfall. Without her he would of turned Ben successfully and potentially taken back over/destroyed the galaxy. It’s in stark contrast to him being so ruthless and emotionless in all his other decisions and machinations.
In regard to Obi Wan knowing about the chips, I’m presuming Anakin must have told Obi Wan what Fives told him before his death at the hands of Commander Fox .

Not at all. It’s clear the live action stuff needs to appeal to a broader base of people, which includes people that didn’t see the animated shows. So including a character while well known by the hardcore fans but not necessarily the broader Star Wars fan base majorly into a story about a universally BELOVED character that casuals know about would just add unnecessary confusion and change the tone of the show. If they do Season 2, then Cody makes more sense.
I know it's your job, but pretending anything in Kenobi was meaningful is absolutely insane. His "arc" was just a cheap copy of Luke in The Last Jedi, but minus the reveals, clear state and stakes, and gradual opening back up that was done there so well. Also, it's not based in Obi-Wan's character at any point in any existing media. He's at the exact same place mentally at the end of RotS as he is in ANH. So this story just invents a new character flaw out of nowhere, just to lazily erase it (even though he did no work or growing) after 6 episodes to put him exactly back where he already was a decade earlier. Only now we watched him let a kid get lynched, continue not caring, and blindly destroy the underground railroad just cause.
