Should I Be Using Sinker Slides On A Boat While Catfishing?

In this video, I'm putting a new dragging rig to the test, inspired by a technique I learned from a Dieter Melhorn short video. The key element is using a snap swivel instead of a traditional sinker slide or 3-way swivel. I made a modification by removing the snap and utilizing my dragging sinkers that already have a snap attached. I also added the removed snap to my 4 oz river sinkers, allowing for easy swapping when transitioning to bottom fishing. Although I missed a couple of bites during the video, I managed to hook a catfish or two using this rig. Share your thoughts on this innovative setup in the comments below!

Another good video Billy, I only bank fish so use siding sinkers mostly but sometimes use sinker slides

Good video. I only use sinker slides while still fishing, whether it be from a boat or shore.

I still use my 3-way swivel but I have a snap for the weights. Easier to switch weights. A snap tied to my leaders. I can change or replace rigs quickly. My local bait shop sells the snaps without the swivel.

I stopped using the slides and just put a clip on a 3 way swivel. Can still change weights easily or go from bank sinker to dragging weight easily. Just my preference

Never seen dirty south dragging weight before. Is that only used if slowly dragging bottom or does it also serve a purpose when just casting and waiting like a regular sinker?

It's heavier that what I was using which is good for deeper water. Its still to keep you gear off the bottom. Here is a video example of the weights made by another RU-vid channel: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3UabOKZVonc.htmlsi=838MoR9a0YQq2c-k

I prefer sinker slides probably no difference when drifting when on anchor out of boat its virtually same as bank fishing with ability to move at will when the bite is slow.
