Working at Associated air at Love Field we did nice interiors of mostly airliners. The corrosion was terrible on many. We worked on Forbes 727 Steve Forbes came out several times to see progress on his aircraft.
When I was flying out of Cairo Airport, there was one old passenger airplane I saw on the ground (not landing gear), the roof looked like it had been torn off, the fuselage was broken in half and I could only wonder what happened that caused this. I also wondered why the airport left these demolished planes in sight. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence to see these wrecked planes lying off to the side of the runway.
Yeah, theres actually a L1011 somewhere in the world in storage, Should take a few repairs to work, Or you could get a random L1011 that somehow ended up in the desert as a tourist attraction.
Sigh this guy knows nothing about mechanical systems on a jet. Yeah, you can buy a 60 year old jet and save some money. Yeah, the interior maybe brand new but guess what! The parts arent!!!! That flap screw jack is still old as shit and been rebuilt 100 times. So when you need that 10 million dollar jet to get you to your very important business meeting... Guess what? Poof Asymmetry flap fail and you're grounded for days possibly. Then the mechanics find out the flap actuators are all messed up and they have to be sent out for O/H. Thousands of dollars down the drain... This is why it pays off in the long run to buy a new plane.
Chainspike101 When buying a pre-owned aircraft you need to seek professional advice because you could end up buying an aircraft that lacks spare parts...However, there are many 15-20 year old jets that can be refurbished and spare parts are not difficult to find. Take the Bombardier Global Express market, where right now a refurbished 2000 Global, with Batch 3.3 upgraded avionics can be picked-up for $8.5M. Of course you can spend $45M on a new Global 6000. As I always say, there are many different answers to the same question when it comes to aircraft sales, all depends on the clients needs. Seeking professional advice is key, also because it is not only about the jet, what about crew, flight operations. maintenance, etc.....
Good Day Fabrizio We are looking at buying a Jet in the near future. I really like the Falcon 50 & 900s. But I also like the Gulfstreams in the category as well. I like having a 3rd Engine in case one goes out. My nephew is a captain flying C17s around the world. He says that 2 Engines would be fine. There are less moving parts. 1. If I was going to buy a used aircraft from you, what would you suggest? 2. What would you choose for your family? Thank You and I Love the Videos. Have a Blessed Day!!!
It is not as simple as that. I suggest you give me a call and I after the conversation and with more info I will be able to direct you to the right jet. cal me on +44 7722 350017
If you and your company have that kind of money, sometimes you'd be better off buying new. Just like with a car, it'll depend on what you are going to use it for, and how much mileage you are going to rack up in a year.
thanks Mr Fabrizio but my comment doesn't reflect my financial status. so, I'm not in the market looking for a plane to buy. I'm just an aviation enthusiastic. I really enjoyed your video. thanks
Hi Gabriel, you are 100% right. The focus should not be on the price of the jet BUT on the business oppourtunities it will create by allowing you MORE flexibility in your air travel needs!
If you, say, were starting an airline with a first aircraft budget for under 600k, what aircraft would you recommend for safety, speed, comfort, and efficiency? Thanks.
A lot will depend on the type of flying you intend to do and location. With just $600K it will be difficult to start. Best thing is you give me a call so I can find out more. call me on +44 7722 350017
Good vid, but options are limited while buying old aircraft & the interiors done by previous owner maynot be suitable either. New one will cost more but will give more peace of mind, not to forget some good deals on maintenance packages offered by aircraft cos especially Airbus & Boeing. Also the depreciation benefit, if any will be far less in older aircraft compared to newer one
Unless you are going to be flying 600+ hrs a year and intend to keep the aircraft 5-6 years it doesn't make sense to buy new. Buying a 10-15 year old aircraft and fitting a new interior will cost a lot less.
I don't know how much you know about the current market. Four BBJs sold in last 10 days and a couple more about to go under contract. Besides those there are at least another 3-4 you can buy on pre-owned market. This is without talking to every owner out there and finding the off-market opportunities. This is what I specialize in. As I am based in Asia, I don't know what's happening in US. Some other aspects which we consider are - financing options which is far cheaper & easier for new, tax benefits which are more in new, warranty from aircraft manufacturer which is mostly absent incase of used ones, & running costs & maintenance will be far more (25-50% more) in used especially when it comes to big jets. Crew, airport charges etc. are all going to remain the same, be it new or old.
Parimal Raj this is very much a case by case basis: aircraft, used or pre-owned, financing, pilots, maintenance, management, are all different depending on the client. Happy to have a one2one conversation with you. Email: fab@orvilleaviation.com
