Thank you so much Tiffany and James for this video! This was soooo timely when I saw the video I just said ' wow God! No way!'. My ex boyfriend got in contact and met up with me to tell me that he felt like he'd made a big mistake breaking up with me a year ago now, and that he wanted to know if I would give him a chance to try again at a relationship. We are currently back in communication and having dialogue about why we broke up, what our reflections are on our previous relationship and what has changed. He is clearly expressing wanting to make changes, he's looking into formal counselling/therapy, and organising to find someone at his church to be a mentor to him. I am meeting and discussing things with friends and trying to be obedient to what God's got to say. All of that being said I think the next few weeks of dialogue and being back in communication will be telling. I'd love some prayers to be able to keep a clear head during this time, to be lead by God and not just my emotions which I can feel coming back up. I feel I'm at a really good point of being able to honestly say I'd be happy to move on being single, but I think he's a really great guy want to make a good decision about whether to date him again. I want to pray that I'd lean firmly on God in this uncertain time of my life as I decide whether to try and work on our relationship again or whether we're best continuing on our separate ways and to fresh starts with different people. So great you guys, love everything you choose to share and say 💗. Idk if this makes sense outside of my brain haha but something I’ve found helpful (maybe more in retrospect once I’ve developed a less biased view on my own past situation), is digging more into the why you want to get back together with this person. You guys touched on this and I wanted to elaborate on another corner of it haha. Maybe there’s a part of you that feels like you failed because the relationship didn’t work out, or you’re jealous all your friends have serious relationships, maybe your mental health is bad and he was the only one who understood you, or maybe you’re simply exhausted of dealing with the pain of moving on and it feels easier to give up trying to do that and you just want to feel happy & cozy feelings with someone again. Or maybe you’ve convinced yourself that if you just try a bit harder it could work, again, not wanting to have “failed” relationship. But just like friendships, often relationships aren’t meant to be forever, and that doesn’t make YOU a failure. It could have still be a “successful” relationship (if you like thinking in those terms) because you grew, and maybe learned how to be more loving, and got to know someone and that time was well spent! Or maybe it was a really rough relationship and that’s normal too, and challenging to process. Whatever your situation remember why you guys broke up and that there was a really real reason for that, that likely hasn’t changed. But obviously maybe it has, and not two circumstances are the same so discern it with Jesus 😊
Oh WOW, is this video ever for me! Thank you so much for making this, Tiffany and James! Very sound advice. There’s also very few Christians speaking on this. The resources I’ve found for this question in the past have usually been secular, and they would almost exclusively talk about ways to be sexier to reattract your ex, etc. THIS was so refreshing! Hi Tiffany and James! I’ve watched a lot of your videos and love them! I feel as though your approach on dating and relationships is so grounded and less ridiculously pressured as some other “courting” or “Christian dating” advice can be. That being said I watched your video about the stages of dating and I think that it was great advice for someone you don’t know, but what about someone you have been friends with a long time (more than a few years)? If we are already past the not knowing each other phase, does that change how we approach dating? We aren’t just casual friends, we have actually been more like best friends for the greater part of both our lives. We are very interested in dating each other but I’m hesitant because we went on a few dates last year and I wasn’t ready for that. I feel ready now, but there is already a previous hurt tied to the relationship. I also watched this video about getting back with your ex and it helped some. We have already resolved the past hurt but I still think if for some reason this relationship didn’t work out, it would crush us both. I’ve already hurt him once and that makes me quite wary of testing the waters again. Also like I said I’m not sure how we need to approach this potential relationship. My second (ex) husband and I reconciled 11 days after our divorce was finalized and now we’ve been back together for 13 months....this question is different for everyone because every situation is different as to why you two broke up to begin with...meaning if you’re young and immature then there’s a chance of reconciling when you’re older and wiser...and so forth and so on but if you’re in an abusive relationship of any kind then leave and protect yourself and hope that the perpetrator gets help and love that person from a distance.

Yeah, I remember asking myself that question. I had only been asked out one time by a guy (happened to be my older sister's best friend) and broke up with him a few months later. After a couple years of NO ONE asking me out, I started second guessing myself. I thought to why I broke up with him, but there were things I also had no explanation. Good thing I talked with my sister because it answered A LOT of questions I still had, like why I felt I was ignored most any time we were together; turns out my sister was the one he liked but she put him in the "friend zone". So, she set him up with me which meant he had more reason to hang around... yup, I was used, TWICE, ouch. That was hurtful to hear and process, but it helped me move on.
Thanks, but I don't want him. He has matured and accomplished a lot, but he still has the same traits and problems that were there 10 years ago. One of the reasons I broke up with him was that we didn't have much in common and it was really hard to talk to someone who 1) wasn't actually interested in me and just wanted a girlfriend 2) cannot even converse on an knowledgeable, moderaltey intellectual level, which something I really need 3) would rather talk to any but me. The only thing I had trouble getting over was the emotional stuff.

Can you do a video on "taking a break" in a relationship? At first I used to think it was a very bad thing, but the more research I've done, I'm finding that they can be very helpful! I got back with my 1st ex-gf, a hot redhead and thought we would end up getting married; both of us had similar religious backgrounds, which is important, along with some other things in common. 'Jessi' gradually went selfish, broke my heart by breaking up with me the first time, then shattered the world I live in, by doing that again, then lied to me and even confirmed selfishness when I said something to her in an email. The 'reason' was that 'I'm not the man for her marry,' but there were no biblical reasons then or now, for saying that. She won't even have a logical discussion using legit reasons, wanting everything going 'Jessi's' way, 'to the greatest extent possible,' from my point of view. NO!!! DO NOT!!! get back with an ex. I wouldn't take her back, even if so many things changed. Plus, she's not a virgin, which I learned while we were distance dating, on #1 of 2 times, the 2nd being in-person, in Nebraska.
