Should I Pray Silently or Out Loud? Which type of prayer does God hear? 

Question KJV: Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. I am sure there are times to pray both out loud and in silent. If your praying over someone then yes you want them to hear you. God does ask us to be silent so we can hear him. I think praise and worship should be both quiet and loud but it's definitely something we should all seek God on seek the Holy Spirit on so we know when and how to do both for God's Kingdom all we do is for him!

When we pray in our head we are avoiding earthly ears to listen to our conversation with the Most High. Earthly ears could be anything from evil presence to things in which is alive such as trees and materials that have energy. Godbless..

I agree with praying out loud, but the Lord has answered many slient prayers of mines. Praise God, there is something very powerful in praying in slience. It's like the powerful verse in the Bible that says be still & know I am God.

Remember Hannah? The bible says this...Hannah was praying in her heart, silently. Her lips moved, but no sound was heard..within a year of that SILENT prayer ..God answered her..but Hannah also kept her promise that of God would give her that son she would dedicate him to God and give him back ..which she did..

I’m in my late 50s and all my life my prayers have only been silent unless I was praying with someone else. Lately I’ve been speaking my morning prayers quietly but not just thinking them. I feel with the way my mind can wander with thoughts that it gives better focus on what I’m praying by speaking and I really can feel a connection to God while doing so. On a side note, I think there is starting to be a spiritual awakening in our country right now. So many people are now speaking about the importance of God in our lives. It’s really an awesome thing that we need so badly at this time. I don’t think I’m the only person that’s noticing this change.

I prayed in my head while surviving in jury duty today. I had to be silent while the judge was talking but I also needed to reach out to God so I prayed in my head. I like to believe God heard me. I hope he did

Hi there. I was told: If you verbalize your prayers, wants and needs it is heard & known from "everybody and everything" around you which it's not always convinient etc etc etc. I know you understand what I'm trying to ssy here. When you pray direct to God in silence from your heart ONLY God can hear you. I think it would depend on what your prayers are.

Yep. Lol. When I first started praying it wss in silence. So many random thoughts would pop out of nowhere. I was rarely saying full sentences nor asking God full questions.

You don't pray the way this guy or anyone else says to pray. You pray the way God tells you to pray. It's all laid out below.

Everyone has an opinion and everyone has a different perspective and personality I rather pray in silence though I sometimes pray out loud when I've attended other church's I choose to pray insolence I do read out loud Oh well a game and praying speaking out loud

God works in miraculeus ways. When u can't talk by sickness or other reason you can still pray to God. Hanna prayed for a son, was not heard wat she was saying, she had to explain... (herself to Eli) Be lead by the Spirit of God not by expiriances. (Not even by feelings). !!How long you've been saved/ been a pastor does not mean more Wisdom!! But the purpose God designed u for; By the Spirit & willingness/ humility to be taught all things by the Spirit of God.

The evil one CAN not hear your thoughts, the evil one will whisper "A storm is coming" Whisper back "I am the storm"!!! Don't think it's a business transaction cause it's not. Earthly things don't work you can't buy your way in.

Thank you brother, I was having this real disturbing me, because when I pray in my head I don't feel my spiritual realm but when I pray loud I even get dreams, good and bad meaning the devil is moved by my words

I don't think there's a "rule" of when to pray out loud or in silence, I think it's something we do automatically as human being when we're being real. I think what God is telling is us is to be true with him, to truly express what is in our hearts, silent or Not. For Example, Jesus said when you pray go to your room and close the door and pray in secret to your Father...does it mean that when you enter your room and close the door you HAVE to be silent when you pray? I don't think so, It just means to go somewhere when you want to talk to your Heavenly Father in private or when your Heavenly Father wants to talk to you in private, having that one on one communication. Same thing with when Jesus said "when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him" does that mean you shouldn't pray long? Not at all because King David had some of the longest prayers in the bible. All this I believe is God telling us to be true with Him, to pour out our heart to Him for example; most of the time I pray in my heart but when things are really serious I automatically open my mouth without thinking, I just pray out loud like "God I'm really struggling right now and I need your help" lol, it's something we automatically do, when we speak to our friends or family members we normally speak in a low soft tone when we are just communicating but other times we yell "HELP" to them When we're in a tight situation or scream with joy when we won a game or something lool, do we do that out of rules? No, we just do them because.....we just do them, it's in our nature of expressing real emotions. So I believe it's the same thing with God, just be real with Him (with respect of course lol) and express what is in your heart, let him know how you feel no matter how long your talk with Him is or how short....as long that you are pouring your sincere heart to him. That's what I noticed about the believers in the scripture they were sincere with God, when you read their prayers you can somewhat understand what they must have felt or went through or going through, they really let God know what was in their hearts and I believe God loves it when we are being true with Him this is why it says "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" make sense because when you are broken hearted you express genuine sincere emotions, even your silence speaks louder then words.

Amen i agree but one thing that I wanted to ask isn't there some situations where you have to pray in silence so the devil doesn't know what your praying for or about? Doesn't God walk in silence in some situations & just takes action in don't tell us in we don't know until it happens then he'll take us to scripture in explain to us why it happened any how just thought i'd ask what your thoughts are thats been my experience

Your analogy only works so far. Extend it and you can see how illogical it is. If God hears mostly spoken words because it is like an infant crying. Then the loudest crier would get attention first just like the loudest baby.. Jesus had criticized loud pray-ers like the Pharisees. So by your analogy God would hear the loud tv pray-ers first as they pray their pharisaical prayers. Just take a listen to the pharisaical prayers they put on a show with at Trump rallies. The blasphemy is so,thick you can cut it with a knife. I don’t believe God hears you more because you are louder. That wasn’t the example he displayed when he instituted the Lord’s Prayer. You seem to be just promoting the type of prayers you like that your church does.
