NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don’t ever replace Orwell!!!!!!! Keep Orwell forever!!!!!! I love hearing that beautiful Caterpillar 3406B Diesel Engine it has!!!!! I love Orwell!!!!
Orwell is literally my reason for coming to the channel in a the first place. It’s super obvious that you take excellent care of the truck. Let the haters say what they want - Orwell is the coolest!
Hey, I am the driver that stopped by to say hi. I didn't stick around because you were still eating, and my break was over. Thanks again for the content. Be safe put there.
I too would love to see Orwell get a full restoration. Wheels, stacks, seat, door panel & anything else it needs. I also understand the difficulty of having time. Stay safe & thanks for the ride along.
You've got some of the best video; Orwell out in the snow country; makes your videos like no one else. I'm thinking your missing some sponsorship opportunities; like lubricants, anti icing treatments, and a thousand other products who would be proud to keep Orwell running over the years and over bitter cold conditions. Us old timers appreciate you
Truck payments get old in a hurry. Do you really want to use def??? I could see going w/a conventional for the ride, but nothing w/EPA problems attached. Saw a KW needle nose w/NY plates a couple years back NW of Milwaukee, flat top sleeper and side pipes, it was so great looking, stellar sound. Mind you, it was a bit of a beater looking but it was working fine.
@gary, RU-vid is real squeamish about sponsors these days, not to mention being picky about what you can say and not say. It would be neat for Peterbilt to pony up a bunch of new parts Steve could use to refurbish Orwell, no doubt! Allan in Columbia, SC
Orwell is the reason we're here! Excellent videos Steve, love the content and the style of your videos, the effort you put into editing them doesn't go unnoticed. Keep Orwell on the road and keep us entertained. Great channel 👍
If it's got tits or tires your gonna have problems with it Steve. Orwell just needs some heavy duty restore work. It's high time Orwell gets a much deserved make over. We don't want him replaced. Be safe out there driver and keep up the great work and the videos coming !
It doesn't matter what model it is theirs always some little thing that needs fixing that is part of trucking. The thing about cadovers your up higher and can see better. It's good to see the trucking community come together and lend a hand to Gentry & Sons Trucking.
That’s TOTALLY up to you! If you’re tired of fixing ( because that’s the problem of having an older truck) then up grade! If you don’t mind fixing the old girl, then keep running her. You two make a good team!
That's the joy of an older truck, Style , Class , Admiration and a whole buttload of time and money. back in the 80's my buddy had a 62 pete, it had the seminole paint and looked sweet, but it was always a battle keeping it on the road, and upgrading, the suspension, the cummins, the tranny, it was always something, but it was badass.
Definitely can't replace ORWELL but we can definitely replace the HATERS. Keep up the great work STEVE. Ps I see some straight 8in bull haulers in the near future...
G'day from Australia I watch all your videos sir. Love hearing that cat purr,400hp was considered big hp back years ago for roadtrain work. Now we have 700 plus to play with. Keep Orwell going sir 🙏 I look forward to seeing that 12V perform.
Orwell is irreplaceable and he’s pre-emission. What you need for a backup is a 389 Glider with a Detroit and a 13 speed with a 72” flattop sleeper. So you can alternate every 3 weeks. This way one is in the shop and getting a little love and the other is working. I’ll pinch you so you can wake up out of the dream. Great Videos Thank You 🙏
Clearly you don’t understand the cost of having 2 trucks and only running 1 every 3 weeks. Registration, IFTA, Heavy Use Tax, insurance and upkeep would defiantly not be worth it. If you have 2 trucks you need 2 drivers.
@@Realtrucker81 Yes I know how much it costs, I was just being kind. Orville needs to be retired but running a pre emission coe today is the shtick of the channel. Running as an independent is the hardest job in trucking whether it’s today or back in the day. My greatest regret not being an owner operator and driving the rig that I wanted.
Good video, Haters will always keep hating. Good old Pete Orwell has some days like new trucks with break downs. At least you don't have to deal with the hog piss (DEF) being injected getting messed up, breaking down or frozen. I love traveling those roads too. Take care Steve and keep the rubber on the road.
I don’t think you should “replace” him, but I do think he’s worthy of a full resto, and should sit when conditions aren’t ideal. Pretty him up, make him a complete head-turner. I’d pickup some basic older aero truck for winter duty. Your boy Gentry bought one out of the school in Appleton for a song.
Hi mate, try not to let these back seat drivers get you down.Like your videos, especially when we are in the cab driving down the highway. What makes it even better, is when you are talking. Doesn't have to be about trucks, but as long as you are saying something. Makes a man feel like he's sitting in the cab with you. Keep up the great work. John, Queensland, Australia
Take this for what it is from a Jersey guy. I realize the importance of you channel to you and many of us. Enjoy the content and people need to realize the issues you have are industry wide. Look what gentry accomplished without using the newest and most expensive you demonstrate what it requires to keep a small business running . The important thing is what you think because nobody is responsible to pay the bills
Steve, thank you for the cinematography of your channel. Your use of multiple camera angles is very well done. Orwell is almost 40 years old and probably has quite a few million miles on him. Plus a lot of the miles in snow and ice! Peterbilt 362 and Caterpillar 3406 B are a strong combination. Cat engines are rebuildable for good mechanics. The engine and truck are a reflection of your above average skills, knowledge, and abilities. Today’s Technicians replace parts with computer aided diagnostics. You are a true mechanic. People need to recognize that you are a rare breed with superior talents as a business owner, driver, mechanic, videographer, father, etc. No smoke just fact. Congratulations!! We appreciate your works!
Don’t let it get you down, sometimes repairs come in waves. Orwell is a sweet ride especially with the wheel everyone dogs about, I call it character. Hope one of these days I’ll catch you or Tim Gentry and shake your hand
Please keep Orwell, My suggestion is to move the right side stack to the left leaving the left there. I saw this on one of Gentry's truck where both stacks were on one side. You can make coal out of it again by Y'ing into the exhaust.
It would be awesome to see the 352 on the road, I’ve always referred to it as a bumble bee because of the color scheme. It’s also just classic and relatively unmolested from its original form. I love it
Orwell is doing just fine you have to do work on everything if its got wheels and a engine. That truck is a lot better than the newer ones with the DEF crap Orwell and the trailer only need a little time in the shop to fix the little things..Since you put the green APU on Orwell it starts great in cold weather it keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer while you sleep. So dont pay any attention to the hattets and Keep on Trucking with the cabover
NO WAY that truck is cool as hell a real head turner. So few cabovers left out there working! You have put so much time and money into it now you may as well keep going. Mechanically it's got to be close to done at this point. It seems to me you have replaced all the major and important components by now. She still needs a bit of TLC but sh'e a work in progress. Some paint, a bit of interior work and some wheels and she would be like brand new. It's only going to go up in value good 352 and 362 are getting hard to find in good road worthy condition.
Great job showing and telling, and yes I got one just a day or two ago. Yes it was a scammer, Tim done toll me about them weeks before well keep up the good work Steve see ya on the next video see ya soon see ya bye.
I love this channel! All the Great scenery and camera angles are killer! 👍 Yes, Please get the 352 up and running! That would be so Sweet! It would be nice if Orwell Had polished aluminum wheels, and new dual stacks. 😎
Don't replace Orwell. He's what started me watching your channel. Many others alike I guess. You do a great job with your filming. Keep it up. Thank you.
Orwell is a WORKING truck! Screw the haters, at least half of the reason I enjoy your channel as much as I do is because you DO show the real, day to day issues that impact actual over the road operations! Orwell is REAL, warts and all. I don’t watch to see a Hollywood picture perfect truck running a scripted perfectly edited show! I watch because you’re channel is REAL. THANK YOU!
YOU DO YOU AND DON`T ALLOW OTHERS TO PISS YOU OFF... HATERS WILL ALWAYS HATE... I WOULD BET THAT THEY DON`T TAKE BLAME ... IT IS ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE AT FAULT...THEY REALLY HATE THEIR SELF... KEEP ON KEEPING ON AND GOD BLESS ...STAY SAFE.
Steve, you bust your hump doing what you do. Driving, working on your equipment, and filming and editing your channels. The 9 to 5ers do not understand that you and others like you don't have the option to punch out and go home, if things break for you , you have to fix it or get it fixed in order to get your job done. Do your best to ignore the haters and just keep doing what you are doing!! Stay safe out there brother!!
Your truck But Orwell reminds me of the 1975 Kenworth cabover my dad had for about a year-and-a-half in the late 70s I'd like to see aluminum wheels all the way around that would save you about a 1/4 ton in weight off the drives Good idea swap stacks side for side for now When you replace them stay with stock sizes It just looks right in my opinion I think going Big diameter won't look right You might feel like you're chasing your tail doing repairs But keep in mind you work your unit I think you're about done whacking the unforeseen moles You've done all the majors Enjoy your channels Glad to see you go to help Gentry and sons
Hey Steve, thanks for letting us ride shotgun. Enjoyed the video. Keep Orwell running as long as you can. It would be nice to see the 352 running the roads. Stay safe.
Well Steve look at the positives. The trailor issues are hopefully behind you after Matt was able to help you get parts and help with some repairs. Plus you got your green apu to keep you warm at night while you sleep without the truck running. Life can always be worse but keep on keeping on man cause you got an awsome self drive.
Don't let the critics drag you down... (especially ignorant ones) You've got plenty of viewers who care enough to follow you, and wait for your adventures. And as for Orwell, please yourself first. You're the one pushing loads down the road. If a newer truck fits your needs, go for it. If you prefer the classic life, more power. On the whole, best of luck and I hope to see you someday on the road...
I admire the way you do trucking. I trucked the Northwest for nearly 2 decades and there was always something to fix. Especially running through Oregon with that damn chain law blinking from entrance to exit. Endless tire repairs from everyone slinging the damn tire chains all over . Stay safe. Love your content and Orwell! She's a keeper!
No man keep Orwell she's a keeper. Love the sound & smoke, that's how a truck should be. The different camera angles are a killer. Really like the one over the cab watching the black smoke roll. I remember looking in my mirrors watching her smoke. Keep up the good work & safe travels.
Can I make a nice comment, we love you , love Orwell , and if ever your having a bad day and don’t fancy talking , GOD I WOULD love to listen for ten hours of Orwell’s great engine , so one day could you make a ten hour loop video for me to have as background sleeping music , what a trip from coast to coast , wow your a legend. Carl 🇬🇧
Steve, You're a true blue collar truck driver with old school work ethic like so many out there. Without showing the "back stage" actions, any common seance person will see you take what you have and succeed. I'm not a trucker but have been around them most my life and now feel I'm to old to get out there. You are inspiring and Orwell is an awesome powerhouse and you 2 are a great team. Keep the great content going, I love the way you film (including all the music), all the angles, all the views, and I really like and laugh along with you at the WTH are people doing or thinking comments. I know we will see great content in the future. You Rock Man !!
I think (knowing very little about trucks) that it would be awesome if you had the 2 Peterbilt cabovers in service. I'd love watching the 352's restoration and even you driving it now and then.
Never replace him!!! Just make him better. Start with some shiny wheels...😁😁😁 If I recall I thought Tim ave you some nice aluminum wheels for him? I would just love to see him working and restored more.
Hopefully that black cloud of things breaking moves on soon. I run fairly modern equipment where I drive, and even 2023 model year stuff breaks! But keep doing what you’re doing, I really do enjoy the content. I actually went way back and watched a bunch of your automotive content and also enjoyed that. Stay safe out there driver!
If it is mechanical, it will break. Only you know if the breakdowns are more time and trouble than a replacement would be. The truck you drive should be the one you want to drive. Best wishes on your decision.
Orwell is the truck you love and care for. It is way worth the time to keep Orwell happy. Because it makes you happier. All truck need TLC when you drive them. So keep your head up. And stay positive. Much respect for you and Orwell
Go for it with the 352 as a back-up truck. It will allow you (and your proposed driver) to keep earning while Orwell and the other principal truck are being serviced. Great idea!!
Just be sure to stay with the classics. That's what trucking is all abojt. Get one that the AC. Works. Keep Orwell for the truck shows. It needs aluminum wheels all around and then it is perfect! Keep up the good work!
Hi mate, John from Australia here. Personally I am glad you are filming this trip. I am no longer able to drive Semi's, due to Arsenic killing off my liver. It's not the actual driving I can no longer handle, but every thing else associated with hauling long distance. So am now using ATS, and Euro 2 Truck Sim. to get my daily fix of diesel exhaust. And of course guys like yourself. So please, the more I sit along with you in the cab, the better my day. God Bless, and look after your self and Orwell. John, Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺
Steve, keep up the great content! Sometimes videos like this are therapeutic, you give us the insight of your mindset, while at the same time it helps you talk out issues and think of solutions. Don't let the damn RU-vid Police get you down. They'll moan and groan about everything. Don't replace Orwell, just keep on keeping on.
Great footage and I thank you for filming, even though you didn't want to. Explaining to us what's going on too helps those that don't know. Sorry, things are going the way are going, but some day soon you will get there. I believe in you! Stay healthy my friend.
Do not get rid of your truck It is horribly expensive on a older truck your channel I will continue to watch can't wait to see your truck in my Hometown of Seattle welcome here
I drove my 82 K-100 VIT for 26 years over the road. You have to stay on top of it. Especially running Canadian winters. You learn what it takes to wear a truck out. I never abused it, but time and miles takes a toll. If I might offer up a suggestion, I’d change that seat. Your body will appreciate it. I parked mine in good running order in 2007, after I returned from my weekly trip to Winnipeg from Toronto. Just nosed into my spot and turned the key off. That was it. I sold it 2 years ago to a guy who already has a restored 82 just like it. He’s doing my old gal over now. So it still lives. The best dreams I had I’d be driving that truck, but I haven’t had one in a long while.
Orwell is paid for (at least I assume and hope so). All the mechanical stuff is straightforward and you are handy enogh to fix. Only issue I have ever considered is if some places will not let you haul with an old rig. New stuff breaks a well and quite a bit of it requires extra equipment and skill. Interior could use a bit of work though.
I dunno, but I think you do a good job of keeping Orwell safe and road worthy. I think it's great that you are keeping the old COE on the road and earning its keep. Don't see COE's often these days.
Hi Steve, Orwell is a awesome looking Cabover the love you take in care of your Baby and the haters hate the world, sending a prayer of good health love happiness safe travels and may God bless all of you always your Canadian subscriber Kevin James Stout in High Prairie Alberta
1) Keep and drive Orwell 2) I have seen, but do not know how true, the price of a used truck is nearly half from a year ago. Buy a used truck that will generate income. 3) Repair/ Rebuild other truck. 4) Or, buy more used trucks if you want and if freight will allow. Keep up the good work, I enjoy your video's.
I'm here in Brazil, watching everyday, sometimes twice, ALL the vídeos. I bought New headphones Just to listen the Caterpillar Orchestra running. Thank you dude, there's a huge fan out here
You got a great view with Orwell....short wheelbase (maneuverability), it's paid for, you can do most of the mechanical repairs....I say keep it unless you have so many breakdowns that you lose money.
Keep Orwell I really enjoy your camera shots inside the cab and back of the truck never drove a cabover sure would like a ride in one sometime especially CL9000 be safe
Things break. Life goes on. Now you know where the weakest spot is on the stacks. Do they make a flexible joint that can also support the vertical weight? Your 'final' fix will probably make it a lot more stiff. Good luck.
I love watching your videos. As a fellow Wisconsinite that travels for work, it's great to see how much WI industry runs the world. And your channel brings light to that. Plus I love seeing cab overs on the road and orwell is the reason for that. You make great videos. Don't let these haters get to you!
Orwell is a working truck, so while it would be awesome to see a restoration, that means Orwell is down while being worked on. I make a point to watch every commercial that pops on your videos just to try and help a bit for possible funds for s restoration in the future. Stay safe out there.
love your videos, I'm a British trucker that emigrated to Canada as an OTR trucker but i could not do what you do is the the US and Canada for years and years, respect to you. I love seeing the roads that i recognize in your videos. Orwell is a great truck but whatever happens i will always enjoy your videos back here since i moved back to the UK. thanks for the great videos and all of the hard work editing to make these so interesting.
Hey Steve, the only reason I would get a new to you truck is the comfort of a conventional, and the savings of about half a mile or more over the cab over, always enjoyed cabovers, Freightliner with a 12 V 71 , with the air starter, once I got a walk in sleeper it would be hard to go back. We are now restoring a 1957 Kenworth conventional put a walk in sleeper and the back clip of a 2002 Kenworth with air ride. Also has a Cat 1693 engine with a 5 and 4 trans. Was watching you put in fuel additive, there was a video on 10 different fuel additives and was interesting that Howes was actually not very good, funny as many people use it. Cheers my friend enjoy your videos.
Replacing or keeping Orwell has to be your decision! The cabover I drove many, many years ago about beat me to death, that was my experience. You're the one repairing & driving Orwell so it's your decision. Ignore the haters!
Great job on trailer rewire, good idea on locating junction box in an accessible position. If you replace Orwell, it had better be with something better Steve 🥺🧐🤔😲. Lol. Great teaser topic. Thanks for sharing and stay safe all.
Steve love your channel. Keep up the great videos. Orwell is the reason why I subscribed. Love those old Pete's. Bob in Missoula Montana. 70 year old ex- trucker.
If you enjoy driving Orwell I'd keep him. I don't know how much you make on RU-vid, but Orwell makes your channel unique. You could get a new stepdeck. That would solve some of the maintenance issues.
Don't listen to the haters Steve, Orwell gets the job done! I have a small fleet with the oldest being a 1984 pete 359 and the newest being a 2015 pete 567. I run the 84 and there is up keep/ maintenance to keep her going but the 2015 is in the shop several times a year with issues. Issues that are expensive to fix and you have to go to dealership because of all the computer BS. I'll take my 84 over the 15 any day. The folks that are commenting negatively have no idea of what it takes chances are. Keep doing what you are doing brother, you're doing it right!
I don’t think you should replace Orwell. He is the last of the big dogs, the real trucks I wish you safe travels and keep on Truckin. Let me know if you ever make it through Birmingham Alabama. It would be awesome to meet both of you.
