I can definitely see why some wouldn't want full MGSV controls to be in a faithful remake of MGS3. I have to admit, Venom controls like an absolute dream in MGSV though. I've played and replayed that game so many times since 2015.

"There are no rolling moves in MGSV" incorrect. If you hold the sprint button or R3 whilst prone, you can move either left or right. So MGS4's mechanic is still in MGSV.

I was referring to Dive roll and side ways rolls. Rolling from prone is a fourth of the rolling from mgs4

What I mainly want from Delta, aside from having the modern aiming and movement, is to make the Survival Viewer function in real-time, which is what I assume the "seamless user experience" refers to (as well as potentially removing loading screens between level transitions). The most painful part of replaying MGS3 for me is having to pause 10-20 times per level to do something, it's why the Octocamo in MGS4 was such a treat to use, you're constantly swapping camos like in 3, but it's not breaking the flow of gameplay. Treating your injuries, swapping equipment, eating food or changing camouflage while the game's world is still moving and enemies remaining a threat would make the survival elements way more interesting and give the game more challenge. I always felt like 4's CQC and core gameplay options were more technical but satisfying, whereas MGSV is streamlined but to a fault, being much more reactive and less tactical. I fully embrace the decision to give Delta the cover system of V as it doesn't require a constant directional input like 1-3 and isn't as restrictive as 4's. I think Delta needs a marriage of 4's much slower more methodical gameplay and tactical emphasis with V's modern conveniences and intuitive controls, it's a very delicate balancing act but I'm hoping Konami can pull it off.

I agree and think utilising the D-pad for Camo and Cure functions would be great, and then use a MGS4 style of controls for everything else. I also think having to deal with these in real time would add a huge amount of immersion -- imagine facing the Fear and having to decide whether duck away to hide so you can cure an injury or to push on in the hopes of winning the battle in time

Bro I forgot how advanced snakes movements were in mgs4, you got me wanting to pop that disc in now to take another trip down memory lane but I'd have to set up my ps3 and I don't feel like doing all that 😂

I did I just don’t think its gameplay style would be suited for a remake of MGS3 given what’s been confirmed about Delta.

​@@AustinQuest ​@AustinQuest not saying that the gameplay would suit, quite the contrary, but some details you pointed out about mgs5 are incorrect : On cqc grab you can change elevations, crouch or standing; By rolling moves i guess you meant the dive roll forward, which is missing in the way we saw in old games, still exist as a reaction for diving from a height and, in a lesser known fact, the cammo index still is present in mgs5, its just not in your face like in 3.

Also, you can roll in MGSV. Lie down, equip weapon, aim, and press and hold R3

@@ThisIsGlitchWell, then that doesn't mean he didn't PLAY mgs5. He just either didn't know about or didn't use those things. Stop being pretentious. Playing videogames and knowing everything about them isn't the achievement you think it is. Maybe go outside once in a while.

12:00 a small correction for this. Reflex mode is an option which can be turned off (not to mention the game punishes you with 5000 point penalty when completing missions)

You address concerns with some potential gameplay choices for the remake and provide antidote for them. Gives me hope that the team behind the remake should be considering them also! :)

MGS3 was already considered a step down in difficulty compared to what came before because of the updates to the gameplay and stealth so if the level design and enemy placement is going to remain untouched for the remake, i feel like MGSV's controls and gameplay speed is going to exacerbate this problem even further. a tuned, slower version of MGSV's gameplay would definitely have potential while keeping the parts that make it feel as good as it does (such as the visceral feel and responsiveness to inputs). that said, i really do wish the devs would have gone for a larger, grander, more modern reimagining of the original like the resident evil remakes.

I've always thought MGS4 had some of the best gameplay in the series. Its stealth is amazing to this day. I don't want to get my hopes up regarding Delta being like MGS4 or Ps3 Ground Zeroes, but that would be fucking amazing. MGSV is very streamlined and fluid but the mechanical feel of 3, 4, and GZ is just so engaging. MGSV is so fluid and fast that the game would need major overhaul in every single design aspect to incorporate it well.

just a curious information that I never seen people talk about, mgs3 on the 3ds updated the gameplay (as well as updating some character models, but this is not the main point) they added third person aiming and crouch walk, the 3ds version is by far my favorite version of the game, despite having some FPS issues

MGSV is an indy car in terms of handling and speed. MGS1 is a tank. 4 is the sweet spot imo and I reeeeallly wish they would have went with 4 style gameplay mechanics and broadened the gameplay segments of the game without changing the story at all.

I tried your control scheme in Subsistence and MAN... It feels perfect! I hope Konami will let us pick from various control schemes for Delta; including the OG controls would be nostalgic too. I completely agree that the in-depth MGS4 CQC/movement should be implemented in Delta as well! Keep up the good work, loved your video! 🐍🍴

You've definitely convinced me that they shouldn't put in MGSV reflex system. It's too forgiving and lets you easily play as an action game not stealth.

best case if the crouch is the same speed as the D-Pad walk/sneak, its fine, but the cover should not be active in this state.

I think maybe not like MGSV, but like GZ. The slower-paced gameplay but the heavily-expanded and -streamlined moveset could (and more likely would) make MGS∆ feel a helluva lot smoother. Going back to subsistence still feels clunky, even though it's one of my favorite games of all time. Rework the guards' detection alongside the controls, and I think we'd have a /solid\ compromise for a reworked moveset.

i think delta needs to be slower paced with emphasis back on stealth and infiltration, although mgsv's "tackle any mission any way" will be hard to turn away from

I honestly have to agree. I like MGS3 and MGSV for different reasons, and I think MGS3 being a slower paced game works best for it.

So what I’d like to see in Metal Gear Solid: Delta’s controls would be pretty much exactly what we got in MGSV. But I think just incorporate those missing mechanical elements from MGS3, (the camouflage index, the injury system, and of course you can’t forget your literal snake eating. Do that, and you already have yourself an awesome control scheme. Now I would also like to add the stuff from MGS4 you mentioned. That’s the only MGS title that I never got to replay or own because I never had a ps3. I only got to borrow one long enough time speed through it. So yeah, whether through this game or via The Master Collections volume 2, I’m just looking forward to revisiting the mechanics of that amazing games.

Why didn’t they interment the stealth mechanics from guns of the patriots to phantom pain! It would have made it more better then what was already in phantom pain, especially the crouching and tapping the soldiers awake instead of standing up to kick them awake.

I think I would be happy with everything from MGS4 and an added sprint-button, as it feels a bit slow to go back and forth in a level where you've taken out all the guards already. I think MGS5 has the most fun movement of all the games, but it might be too chaotic for Snake Eater.

it would be cool af but i don't think they gonna put effort in this release, its just a nostalgic move to get money from the players. I hate the camera angles of the old games. Anyway Ghost of Tsunima is coming out on pc in may.

You can do a rolling dive? Or sideways rolls from a standing position in MGSV? The only rolling I’ve seen is rolling from prone.

On the other hand, in the Silent Hill HD collection, the new voice-acting gets almost every single delivery wrong for both SH2 and 3. Konami probably reuses it for cost effectiveness, but at least they won't mess up the nostalia value.

Something that bugged me was that in MGS3 I didn’t know you could interrogate enemies and when I did learn that it became useless because I was just dealing by everyone or knocking them out with the tranq gun so I just hope that they make interrogations and holdups like MGSV more beginner, friendly, and you can just understand quicker that you can interrogate enemies for food or the location of a secret item if they put them in

I remember when thr pachinko machine cutscenes came out people were bitching and moaning that Konami should remake mgs3 on the fox engine (no idea why people are still obsessed with a decade old engine) and make it play like mgs5 and I always said that sounded terrible because mgs5 dumbed down so many mechanics and didn't emphasize the same kind of playstyle as 3. Now we're getting a proper remake, this time incorporating the new gameplay features from the 3ds version such as over shoulder aiming and crouch walking, and people are STILL upset. Solid video, I think those animation changes are likely signifying they're trying to make it closer to mgs4 in feel, which I think would work very well. Or, as you said, it's pre-alpha footage so maybe those are placeholder animations they used just for the trailer, we don't know yet

MGSV has almost all of the same things that mgs4, it's just faster and less precise in mgsv, such as the lean mechanic, in fact, it plays significantly better. who the hell used the side roll in MGS4? basically nobody, because you have to be aiming or using lock on, it's just odd. The only things I'd say would be extremely useful would be the classic lean mechanic. I'd say that you can remove snakes sprint from V and keep the classic weapon selection from the rest and it'll be ok. I bet and hope that they're going for a blend of 3, mgsv and peacewalker, rather than 4.

Apart from the camo INDICATOR, i see no reasons why mgsv gameplay would not be okay for delta. A lot of points you made about missing features are false, I'm replaying the game right now and i can assure you they are present in the game. The old weapon selection, i agree, should be brought back, but for a lot of other things, i just feel like you didn't like mgsv so you didn't explore it enough

I loved MGSV. Just as it’s own experience I don’t think it really fits in the broader sage of MGS in some ways. What features was I wrong about? In my play through of MGSV there was a lot of missing features compared to MGS4.

I think that the ability to sprint around and easily throw everyone at the ground felt too strong, even in 5. I would prefer slower, stealth focused controls to account for the smaller map sizes.

I like MGSV gameplay and I think some features will be more than welcome, like crouch walking or walk and aim. Still, I hope they dont mess with the stamina and survival features. MGS3 gameplay is outdated, it doesn't mean it wasn't good at its time, but for today's standards it's kinda painful to play. All they need to do is use MGSV gameplay but remove the infinite stamina, bring back old CQC, remove enemy markers, add a camo index and the survival elements

Delta having the mgsv gameplay would be TERRIBLE, it would go against the inmersion of the survival aspect of Snake Eater, and it would go against canon, MGSV Snake has way more experience, he's at his most powerful state, having unlimited resources. Naked Snake can still easily solo an elite unit of soldiers, but still, they need to keep things down.

It's already been stated that MGS3 remake won't run on Fox Engine. That alone will show you it won't be similar to MGSV
